THE RESCUE BLUES (The Rescue Blues #1)

It always starts as a "girl meets boy, boy meets girl" story when unbelieving Ray Carter meets Lily "The Stiff" McQueen, but after a drunken night of partying and an unexpected result in the school's "The List" popularity poll, it becomes an unexpected spark, a shot in the dark, in the good old, small town of Fram Hill. One is a rebel who wants to run away from the troubles of the past and his family name, and the other is an outsider, who wants to fit in. He is enchanted by her. She likes his best friend instead. She hates his guts but he is crazy about her. He resists. She insists. A tragedy will bring them closer together as they deal with high school, friends, family, and dreams. Their attraction is a start. Doubts creeping in, the cause of alarm. The past haunts them, a call to action. Will they come to each other's rescue? *Weekly Update: Mondays / Tuesdays **Book cover created using Canva SOCIALS TikTok: @themerrytroll YouTube: @themerrytroll Twitter: @TheMerryTroll Discord: Bones#7882 (themerrytroll on Webnovel) ***For inquiries/collaboration, please email mssuncheese@gmail.com.

THOUGHTS AND SIGNS

Ray Carter.

He was one constant thought that Lily hoped would leave her be. Though he did neither say nor do anything to her since they arrived back at the Three Elms lodge earlier in the evening, he was doing a lot of repeated appearances in her mind. She attempted to understate that fact.

Why was she thinking of him? Why was she letting him invade her inner space, her peace? She swore not to welcome his piercing gaze on her and return the favor. She was not ready to meet his blue eyes.

Jean poked Lily's arm. "Are you okay?" They were both in their assigned accommodation room in the lodge, readying for dinner.

Grateful for the distraction, Lily smiled at her best friend. "My mind drifted away."

Jean observed Lily's face, a little longer than she should have. "Uhu. As usual."

"It's not like that. There is just a lot on my mind."

"Let me guess. You can't help but marvel at how gorgeous I am."

Lily rolled her eyes but appreciated the cheekiness. "No."
