Tunnels

Orgarkov is now on a plane returning to Moscow, most of the armies have reached the border with the orcs, and awaiting his order. But at this time, he suddenly received an order from Moscow asking him to return.

In his hand now, is the latest battle report from the Belarus and Ukraine Front, they have already launched a series of fire reconnaissance and exploratory attacks. The situation does not seem to be as good as how he thinks.

The majority of the orc's country is built in mountains and forests, and natives here call these mountains the ten hundred thousand mountains, as it is full of mountains. The Belarus and Ukraine Front stopped advancement after they crossed the plain and reached the border with the orcs until not long ago the Baltic Front had defeated the undead.

In Orgarkov's original thoughts, these would not be a problem for the Red Army. The orcs are weak, and with primitive weapons and tactics, mountains would not be a place for them to stop the Red Army.

But now, reports prove that he is wrong. Both fronts sent battalions to enter the mountain for reconnaissance, and all suffered heavy losses. Soldiers state that the orcs appear from nowhere, and when they do, they come in large numbers. Many do not have time to react, and vehicles find it difficult to enter due to poor road conditions, resulting in many being killed.

They then did something to react to this, the Ukraine Front used large amounts of Incendiary bombs to burn the whole mountain meanwhile the Belarus Front used chemical weapons and tried to force all the orcs out. They find these are not efficient, no orcs have been observed running out from the mountain or burning to die.

For safety, the Ukraine Front this time sent a whole division to reconnaissance the mountain, soldiers formed tactical formations to prevent ambush from the orcs. Yet, they failed, many have stepped into traps, and by this time the orcs will rush out and attack them. But something useful has also been known, the orcs built tunnels in the mountain, from the recon by now, it seems to be a massive construction that connects not only one mountain but more.

Soldiers who entered the tunnels were immediately repelled back, the complicated road inside and many traps again stopped their steps. A whole division with 8000 men only 2000 leave the mountain without any injury, the rest, many have temporarily lost their ability to fight.

Ukraine Front did not want to give up, they then launched a small-scale attack on the mountain, using three divisions, and even used a bunker bluster bomb carried with a nuclear head to do it. The whole mountain was blown into a plain, exposing all the underground tunnels.

Meanwhile, the Belarus Front try to throw chemicals and biological weapons into the tunnels, using water to flood them, pouring fuel into it trying to burn all the oxygen inside and force them out, but all are not effective. They did not observe any vents, what they did just seemed to be useless to the orc's tunnel.

Orgarkov feels very troubled by the tactics of the orcs. The power of the Soviet's mechanic waves was already limited since this time they would be fighting in mountain terrain, now they were using these types of tactics, and heavy casualties could be due if they still attacked. There are also not many ways to do with the tunnel tactics, superior firepower is limited, Iwo Jima, Korea, and Vietnam, all use tunnel tactics to fight against enemies with superior firepower and cause them heavy casualties.

Unless the Red Army can do what the Ukraine Front has done, nuke every single mountain that contains a tunnel, but how long does it take? At what cost? Well the USSR do have the ability to produce ten hundred thousand nukes and bunker bluster bombs to do it, but it will take a very long time.

Orgarkov decided to take a rest after reading all these reports since he did not know when would be the next time he could have a good sleep.

"Comrade Marshal, we have reached Moscow."

Does not how long has the time passed, Orgarkov wake up when someone calls him.

He tidied up himself and looked outside, he had reached the Zhukovsky airport near Moscow. The airport was often classified. It primarily served as a testing and research centre for Soviet aviation and aerospace technologies.

He doesn't mind where they landed, he already landed here many times. But today something else has attracted his sight, a big, white, huge plane, that was half-built has been pulled out, and seems to be waiting for him.

When Orgarkov walks out of the plane, he sees Ustinov, Aleksandr Koldunov the Marshal of Aviation, who commands the whole Air Defence Forces. Besides them, is an engineer-looking person.

"Comrade Orgarkov, it's been time I have not seen you." As soon as they met, he came over enthusiastically and hugged him.

"Same to you, Comrade Ustinov and Koldunov. Ustinov, may I know what happened that the Central Committee called me back so urgently? "

"Well, actually it is not that desperate, we will have a meeting tomorrow, and by that time you will know what happens. Before that, let me introduce our deputy chief engineer of supersonic aircraft, Valentin Bliznyuk."

"Great to meet you, Comrade Marshal." Orgarkov shake hands with him.

"Have you seen the big plane there, it was designed by Bliznyuk."

But Orgarkov felt confused, he was only in charge of the ground forces most of the time, why would Ustinov bring him here to meet an aircraft engineer?

"I know you must be confused about why I did let you here, the answer is obvious, you are the one commanding our troops in the front, and also came out with the idea of information warfare, it would be best if you could give some advice to our next generation strategic bomber, which will be in supersonic."

The group walked towards the plane while talking. The closer they get, the more surprised Orgarkov is, this plane seems to be a little bit bigger than the TU-95, but its four jet engines at the tail show that it will be faster than it, according to what Ustinov said, it will even be in supersonic.
