Mobile Group

Tartu, Estonia Soviet Socialist Republic.

Last night, Chernov and his KGB special forces arrived here just a few hours after the end of the battle of Leningrad.

Tartu is now half-surrounded, leaving only one road that is connected with the outside.

The first thing he reaches here is to carry out the order from Lubyanka, removing the duty of the Baltic commander and his Chief of Staff.

"Comrade General Colonel Aleksandr Mayorov, by order of the High Command, you and your Chief of Staff will be relieved of duty in the Baltic Military District, as you have lost most of your territory to the orc's hand."

"However, due to your performance in Tartu, the High command decided to give you another chance."

"The Tartu group will be formed, and it will be under the Baltic Front commanded by Marshal Orgarkov."

"Do you understand?"

Mayorov did not say anything when he received the orders from Chernov, accepting the orders calmly.

"Yes, I understand."

The change of Mayorov's duty does not affect him much, his troops still block the orcs like a nail.

Even though the forces in the Baltic Military district are limited, their equipment is much more advanced than in other districts.

Most of the troops were already fully equipped with the second-generation MBT, the T-72.

After giving the order to Mayorov, Chernov walked out of his command post and got back to his position that had been arranged to rest.

The next day, surprisingly, he met his uncle's comrades in World War 2.

They named Viktor Reznov and Dimitri Petrenko, who were also the ex-KGB special forces.

Both of them survived the brutal war from Stalingrad to Berlin.

They together with his uncle participated in the assault on the Reichstag in the Battle of Berlin.

His uncle, who has the same name as him, Chernov, dies before the moment they get the victory.

He is a private soldier who holds the Red Flag of the great motherland and gets burned to death at the entrance of the Reichstag.

Petrenko took over his Red Flag and planted it on the top of the Reichstag with the help of Reznov.

Three of them, have been awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union after the war ended.

When Chernov got to his post, he saw two men holding AK assault rifles, wearing Soviet ushanka fur hats, and Soviet military coats waiting for him.

"Little Chernov, such a long time since I have not seen you, how are you ?"

As soon as they met, Reznov came up to greet Chernov warmly.

Chernov sighed and replied to Reznov's question.

"Not Great, Uncle Reznov and Petrenko, I have lost more than half of my brother in Leningrad."

Listening to what Chernov has replied, Reznov starts to say what has happened to him in the past.

"I am sorry for the news Chernov, but you will used to it, this is war."

"During the Nazis invade our motherland, me and your uncle Petrenko have lost many comrades in every single battle."

"Look at our little Chernov has already become a Colonel at such a young age, how old are you?"

"28."

What Chernov said seemed let Reznov to have fall into some kind of memory.

"Never thought of fighting another war with my old friend nephew, I still remember your Chernov uncle's sacrifice in front of Reichstag at your age."

"I believe he would be pleased knowing what you have achieved today."

"Petrenko, why don't you come to talk with our little Chernov?"

Time has changed many, but it doesn't seem like changed Petrenko.

As usual, Petrenko does not like to talk.

Chernov did not mind and asked Reznov about the situation in the front line.

"Uncle Reznov, how is the situation now?"

"Things are getting better, the orcs have no way to get into our line."

"Their advantage in number has been limited since more and more reinforcement has reached."

"And also the geography."

"The orcs are attacking us from the north and south of the city."

"In the west, they are blocked by Viljandi Lake."

Reznov continues to tell Chernov about more detailed information in Tartu.

"I got news from one of my old friends, we are going to assault Riga a few hours later."

"We should start preparing, we might be appointed to be the special task force."

Chernov feels a bit weird, assaulting to Riga?

When the city is still surrounded by a few millions of orcs?

However, the order is not to be doubted, but to execute.

This is something that they taught since the first day they joined the army.

"Any friendly forces will join us?"

"Yes, as I know we are going to carry out the mission with a tank battalion that is fully equipped with T-72. Well, just wait for the order to come and we will know."

A few hours later,

Chernov saw a bunch of IL-76 transport planes and helicopters fly above them, in the direction of Riga.

Then he realizes the time has come, he and his special forces are going to move again.

"Chernov, the order from the Tartu group Command has come."

"We are going to form a mobile group with the new arrival 4th Guards Tank Division, and assault Riga."

4th Guards Tank Division?

They have already reached Tartu in less than one day?

Chernov was a bit shocked by the speed they arrived.

But he did not question it, he believed that the motherland could do that.

"What is our target today?"

"Well, they expect us to reach Valga before midnight."

Valga?

Chernov thought that the commander was not knowing what was happening in the front.

"Breaking through the village occupied by orcs and pushing forward for 70km in a day, do they think that our enemy is that weak?"

"We have prepared nothing, can our logistics be followed?"

Seeing Chernov's doubtful look, Reznov decides to tell him what happened in Riga.

After knowing what has happened in Riga, he finally knows what is the purpose of the mission.

"Well then, let's not waste the time."

He orders his special forces crew to check for final preparation.

Half an hour later,

with the cover of artillery and MLRS, they began to rush to the first village outside Tartu.

The battle is extraordinarily smooth, it only takes another half an hour to break through the orc's defence in the village.

The remaining orcs will be cleared by the follow-up troops.

Even though they are special forces, what they doing now is nothing different from normal infantry or even field army.

Perhaps this is another special tradition of the Russians, taking VDV, naval infantry and special forces to fill the front lines during World War 2, or even in Ukraine in another timeline.

The mobile group has progressed very quickly.

They have got support from the Mi-24 helicopters or even Su-25.

Until 10 pm in the night, they are only a few kilometres away from the Valga.

During the battle, Chernov notices Reznov and Petrenko and is shocked again about how they have fought.

Both of them are now more than sixty years old, but times have not made them weak, but instead stronger.

Today's battle is far more went well than yesterday.

At least from what Chernov heard from others, the orcs aren't as weak as today.

This makes him becoming curious.

Sitting on a BTR-70 armoured vehicle, he thinks this might be the effect of the nuclear warhead, thinking the nuke can make both orcs and the undead weaker for some reason.

Even there is a different reason why the undead and orcs have suddenly become weak after the nuke detonated.

However, the incoming battle in Valga gives him no time to think about it.

But, unexpectedly, the BTR and the other vehicles stop outside Valga.

Chernov immediately jumped down from the vehicle, alerting for a potential enemy.

"Comrade general, what happened?"

Chernov found the division commander, Major General Yury Momotov in a UAZ-469 vehicle.

Momotov recognized that the colonel in front was a KGB officer, making him not dare to hide any information.

"Comrade Colonel, our convoy now lacks ammunition and fuel, we are waiting for the air supply."

"General, then why don't we take down the town first, you have two regiments here, I believe the other one would have enough ammunition."

"I am sorry colonel, I have already let both of the regiments fight to take turns fighting. Now both of the regiments are already out of ammo."

"But general, it is dangerous to let our troops stay outside the field without any ammunition."

Momotov does not seem like has listened to what Chernov said, he says contemptuously,

"Relax colonel, these orcs would not be able to do anything to us in the night."

"You joined the battle today, and you know how weak they are, right?"

"They are just a bunch of monsters that have strong bodies but useless brains."

"Believe me, colonel, nothing gonna happen tonight."

After finishing speaking, he does not give the chance to argue, asking his drivers to drive away, leaving Chernov on the spot.

"Cyka Bylat!"
