When the vehicle that brings the adventure team arrives at the Kremlin, the foreign minister Andrei Gromyko has already been waiting outside.
Also waiting outside are the Soviet honor guards.
The Soviet guard of honor stood in formation, leaving a path between them, clad in their distinctive Soviet military uniforms. With stern expressions and unwavering discipline, the soldiers formed a precise line, holding the red Soviet flag with its golden hammer and sickle.
The guard of honor consisted of soldiers from various branches of the Soviet armed forces, showcasing the diversity and strength of the military. Their winter uniforms were adorned with medals and insignia, signifying their achievements and commitment to the state.
Soldiers stood at attention, their breath visible in the chilly air, as they awaited the arrival of the foreign adventurers.
As the car stops, the first who comes out of the car is Chernov, who opens the door for the adventure team.
Just the moment Marcus steps out of the car, all the guard of honor salute them uniformly.
Their head turns as the guests move.
Gromyko immediately wants to give out his hand to greet the guest.
However, the guests make a fist with their right hand, place it on their left chest, and bow slightly to show respect.
Seeing this Gromyko can only take back his outstretched hand and bow slightly in response.
Then, both of them have a brief introduction to themselves.
Earlier in Sevastopol, the commander has already told them that the USSR want to have a diplomatic relationship with Karak.
But they have no idea who will meet to do this, even Chernov has just told them that the General Secretary is waiting for them.
"I am sorry Minister Gromyko, Colonel Chernov has told me the General Secretary is going to meet us, but may I know what exactly the General Secretary does?"
Gromyko smiled for a while and said.
"Captain Marcus, well the general secretary is the supreme leader of the Soviet Union, to show our sincerity, he decided to meet you all by himself. If you have more questions about us, maybe you can ask later, now let us go into the meeting room first."
Listening to what Gromyko said, a question comes to Marcus' mind,
[ Why would their supreme leader want to meet us?]
In a diplomatic relation, rarely and dangerous for the leader to directly meet someone that the country knows nothing of.
To answer this question, Marcus sends out a message to one of his subordinates through mental communication.
[ Use your ability, check out what this foreign minister thinking, and make sure that there is no conspiracy that is against us. ]
The one who gets the message acts like nothing from the outside, but at the same time starts using his mental ability to check on Gromyko's mind.
[ Is this even a good idea? Meeting unknown individuals with magics that could probably read the minds or mind control the highest-ranking officers of the Soviet Union. Just really don't understand why is general secretary wants to do this.]
The subordinates quickly send what he reads to Marcus.
[Seems like the General Secretary does not seem to be smart. Read the General Secretary's mind later, if nothing special, control his mind.]
Soon, they entered the meeting room and saw an old man wearing a suit that was attached to medals sitting in the middle of the table.
Only 8 of them entered the meeting room, the rest of the mercenaries were brought to another room and escorted by Chernov.
"Welcome everyone, let me introduce myself, I am the General Secretary of the Soviet Union, Leonid Brezhnev, and today I will want to represent my country to build diplomatic relations with Karak."
Another round of greeting.
Brezhnev is the highest ranking in the room, then Gromyko and the rest are all men from the Foreign Department.
Wait until everyone sits, Marcus gives his men a look, and the guy replies to him with a slight nod.
Mind read immediately used on the old man.
[ This man looks so ugly, this one looks so dumb ... ]
???
As Marcus Man sends back, he immediately knows something wrong.
[ The General Secretary is an idiot? Impossible, there must be something wrong.]
[Wait, I understand, this guy is not the real one.]
Meanwhile, in the bunker,
the real Brezhnev is together sitting with Ustinov, Andropov, and the other high-ranking officers, looking at the big screen in front of them that shows the image in the meeting room.
Around them were hundreds of soldiers using various instruments.
To trick the adventure team, they did not even tell Gromyko about their plan.
And the purpose of this plan is to identify what can the people from Karak do to them.
"Sir, we have spotted some special signal from them again."
"Can you identify where the signal comes from and goes to?"
"Yes, a few of them are between the adventure team, some to somewhere that is a thousand kilometers away, and one of them goes to the fake general secretary."
Andropov received reports from the soldier and asked the opinion of Brezhnev.
"Comrade General Secretary, should we stop them or should we just continue to pretend we do not know about it."
"Stop them, at least we should let them know we can find out they are using magic. And they would not know how we found out that."
As real Brezhnev gives out the order, the orders go to fake Brezhnev's ears through micro earpieces that are developed by the KGB.
Fake Brezhnev immediately stops the meeting that is going to start.
"Stop! Gentlemen, to be honest, stop using your magic on me or my foreign minister. You guys may find out that we Soviet Union does not have any existence of magic, but this does not mean that we do not have a way to due to it!"
People here are scared by the sudden anger from the fake Brezhnev.
Accompany with fake Brezhnev shout, soldiers outside rushed into the meeting room, pointing their guns at Marcus and his men.
Marcus quickly stands up and apologizes to Brezhnev.
"I am sorry Mr General Secretary, there must be a misunderstanding, we are just communicating with our country which is far away from here."
To prevent themselves got killed here and giving the Soviet Union an excuse to invade their country, Marcus can only explain to them half-truthfully.
"Stop lying, I can feel some of you are trying to do something on me, are you guys trying to assassinate me and start a war with us?! If this is what you wish so, the Red Army will be happy to accept your challenge!"
Listen Brezhnev wants to start a war with the Karak, and Marcus has now become anxious.
He has received more detailed information about the Soviet Union from Karakum and also King Aric's order which must be in alliance with the Soviet Union.
He knows that the Karak has no chance to resist the Soviet Union if war begins.
"I apologize to you, there must be some of man did not listen to my order, I beg you to give me five minutes to settle it. The Karak did not mean to start a war with the Soviet Union."
Everyone in the room looks at Brezhnev, waiting for him to make the decision.
Brezhnev nodded his head, Marcus only felt relaxed a bit.
Leaving Gromyko and his men aside who knows nothing about what happened.
They were then led to the place where the other mercenaries were stayed.
Just entering the room, Marcus starts punching the man who read Brezhnev's mind and also gives a message to him through mental communication.
[I am sorry man, I need to do this, they are watching us from somewhere. You will need to stay here until we have done everything. Report to Karakum what happens here, they will need to re-evaluate the Soviet Union and rate it higher, this country is just stronger than we could imagine.]
Five minutes later,
the diplomatic representative returned to the meeting room.
"Captain Marcus, have you solved your problem?"
"Certainly, Mr General Secretary."
"Good, you should do something, it is not good when your subordinates do not listen to your order. Well then, let us continue our meeting."
"As you wish."
The meeting lasted for another few hours, and Marcus represented the Karak sign many agreements with the Soviet Union.
Both sides will establish embassies in both countries.
The Karak will provide all the information about magic and also the orcs and undead.
Also, they will send military advisors to the Red Army to provide magic knowledge in the war against the orcs and the undead.
In return, the Soviet Union helped the Karak to build more advanced infrastructure, for example railways, airports, ports, and others for future trade agreements.
Under Brezhnev's order, the Soviet Union will also send different types of raw materials to the Karak, as also oil, which people in this world called 'Faguang', to help the Karak improve their army so that they could launch an attack on the orcs.
"Oil, Oil, Oil. Why do creatures in different countries and different worlds all so like oil?"
This is what Brezhnev said when he found out that the orcs and undead invaded because they wanted the oil from the Soviet Union.
But, the problem is, will Brezhnev be so kind, using so much of resources to help another country to build and develop their infrastructure and army?
