We soon reached the underground docks, all the 1st years slowly and carefully got off the boats and onto the mainland. We all huddled together as we followed Hagrid hulking figure up the cobble stone path way until we finally reached the castle entrance.
The half-giant rapped his knuckles on the giant wooden doors and it was soon opened. The person who opened the door was Mcgonagall coming through the door with her tall posture albeit still not as tall as Hagrid.
"The firs' years, proffess'er Mcgon'gall" Hagrid said as he handed the first years to Mcgonagall.
"Thank you Hagrid, I can take care of them now, you may leave" I heard her stern reply, sheesh harsh, or is she just stern?
She fully opened the doors and allowed into the courtyard of the castle, it was massive but the thing stood out a lot was the giant stone knights lining the walls standing rigidly with swords imbedded in the ground in front of them. Weren't these the knights that came alive with a spell in the final battle? I observed them.
Stone Knight Golem Lvl ?
While everyone else was smiling I was slightly frowning, why wouldn't it work? Were the levels to high? Was it a glitch?
Just to check it wasn't a glitch I observed Mcgonagall as well.
Minerva Mcgonagall Lvl ?
Just in case, I checked some other 1st years levels as well,
Hermione Granger Lvl 4
Susan Bones Lvl 5
Draco Malfoy Lvl 6
So I can only observe those around the same level or is my observe level too little? I need to experiment.
[Observe] lvl has risen by one
While she was giving a briefing of the houses and how to behave according to them. I had to hold back a scoff, this system of separating them is good for a bit of time before the houses start wars with each other.
We were soon taken to the great hall, all of us first years slowly shuffling in, looking at everything like it was new, which it was. There is so much to explore, I haven't even learned everything about my system.
A few students were panicking, I could pick out Hermione muttering facts from Hogwarts: a history to anyone that was next to her. I need to get more books I idly wondered, I had already read a lot of them.
I heard screaming coming from the back of the group, what I saw was some ghosts flying through the past us. I took the chance to observe one.
Bloody Baron Lvl ?
If I remember correctly he was from around the founder's time, and had committed suicide because he killed his lover, at least I think. I saw him wave his sword past some students, while cackling madly.
Mcgonagall was still walking briskly in front of us then came to a stop next to a stool that was near the front of the room, with a dirty grimy hat sitting innocently on top. We followed Professor Mcgonagalls lead and stopped as well. All of the students stopped and watched as the hat began to come to life.
It soon began to sing, and I must say as a past singer and musician, that that was horrible for my ears.
After the hat finished singing their horribly horrifying song, Professor Mcgonagall fished out a roll of parchment and unrolled it. Soon she began calling out names:
"Abbott, Hannah" a small girl shyly walked to the front where the stool was located, sat down and put the hat on her head, the hat immediately screamed:
"HUFFLEPUFF!" just like the book she was sorted into Hufflepuff.
I watched as a few more students were sorted into their houses, and were welcomed with warm gazes and pats on the back.
"King, Allen" oh it's my turn.
I felt the gazes of all the houses and professors on me as I went up the podium. I picked up the hat and sat on the stool. I put the hat on my head, it was big enough to slide down till my nose bridge. Well it did belong to an adult.
'Oh, a very well-guarded mind I see' a gruff masculine voice remarked next to my ear, I felt a shiver run up my mind. It was like having someone there but not knowing it at all. "Suppose you wouldn't be able to turn it off by any chance? I cannot exactly sort you"
'No I can't, sorry it is not an ability I can control' I mentally replied hoping it could at least read my surface thoughts.
'Then this is a bit of a problem, eh?'
'Ravenclaw would be fine, thank you' I told it? Him? Let's go with him for now.
'That's not how I sort you children into your houses' he replied.
'As I said Ravenclaw is fine, it is the one I have chosen and it is the one I will stick with' I mean, there isn't another house I'd rather go to.
'Quite stubborn, eh? Well if that is what you have chosen then… "RAVENCLAW!"
As I opened my eyes I saw everyone staring expectedly at me and the Ravenclaw table burst into a round of cheers. As I put the hat on the stool and walked over to the Ravenclaw table my uniform started changing matching the black and blue of the other Ravenclaws and my tie change to the blue and bronze of the Ravenclaw house.
I was greeted with the cheerful handshakes and pats on the back by a lot of the older year students.
I soon learned that I was talking with the hat for a very long time compared to others, so they considered me somewhat special. I was also known as a 'hat-stall' as the hat usually doesn't stall when making decisions about which house they should go to, well I didn't feel the need to correct them so it's fine.
The sorting was pretty fast, I was joined by 8 others, 4 girls and 3 boys.
I greeted them all in a welcoming and warm manner, it wouldn't be bad to make connections now. Even if I already knew who the girls were.
I introduce myself again and the others also introduced themselves, the girls introduced themselves I already knew so I just sat through it. The guys' that joined were Michael Corner, Terry Boot and Anthony Goldstein. Including me there was 9 students that joined Ravenclaw this year.
Dumbledore then gave his yearly speech, he then ended the speech with a clap of hands which, followed by food appearing on the long tables in big platters.
I ate a bit of everything as I wasn't hungry which was weird since I hadn't eaten all day except the candy from the trolley lady. The food was pretty good, seeing as it was made by house-elves that had to make it every year I guess it should be. Food was something I had a great passion in eating, a lot of the time I wasn't doing something I would learn how to cook which was a request from my mother as she wanted to eat food I'd prepared myself so I tried to perfect the food the best I could.
After dessert, the headmaster stood up and warned of us to never go to third floor. Why would you tell a whole school of mostly pubescent's to not go somewhere? This also left me wondering how much EXP would I get if I killed fluffy or Quirrellmort? If I could I would but for now dismissed it as I wouldn't be able to get away with it.
We were soon led by our prefects to the fifth floor, where we travelled through a tight spiral staircase until we reached an arch shaped bronze door with an eagle as a knocker.
We were soon told we need a riddle to get past, when one of the prefects answered the riddle given and led us inside.
We then entered a large circular room, with royal blue and silver silk hanging from the ceiling and walls. Delicate arch windows littered the walls, allowing us to see the currently night sky outside. The ceiling was a dark blue dome painted with different stars and constellations. Tables and chairs were put near the edges of the room and book cases lined the walls. There was a fireplace to the side and a mini library on the other, the floor was covered in blue, bronze and silver carpet.
But the thing that stood out the most was the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw that guarded Ravenclaw tower on the other side of us with 2 stair cases leading up from behind it.
I laid down on my bed still in my robes,
'I should probably try to become friends with them' I thought
"Hey" I said as I caught their attention,
"Since we'll be together for the next seven years we might as well become friends" I laid the facts down.
"So let's talk and actually introduce ourselves, what we like, hobbies etc. who wants to go first" I asked, hmm no one's going to put their hand up if I don't.
"My full name is Allen Arthur King, I like singing, playing musical instruments and learning new things" that should be enough.
One raised their hand, Anthony Goldstein, eh? He looked a bit above average height with flat blonde hair and brown eyes.
"Hi, my name is Anthony Goldstein I'm a half-blood wizard I like hanging out and generally learning new things"
The next one that raised their hand was Terry Boot, he looked average with short brown hair and dark eyes a bit taller than Anthony.
"My name is Terry Boot, I like hanging out with my friends and making new ones I'm also a half-blood wizard" he cheerfully exclaimed.
The last one to put their hand up was Michael Corner, he had a more regal appearance compared to the two others with neat slightly curly wavy black hair that went to his nape, pale skin and dark eyes.
"My name is Michael Corner, I'm a pureblood and I like reading new books and learning" he talked while reading a book that he was currently holding.
Soon we all started conversing and I could say by the end of the night we did become pretty good friends.
As I was there trying to sleep I couldn't, I came here but what for? What is my purpose? Am I to just live my life with no purpose in sight? Actually how did I come here? Who knows, maybe I'll learn one day but not for now. As I was wondering a memory came to me that was buried deep inside of me:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was there with my father's hand on my shoulder and my mother hugging me, tears were streaming down my face. I was only a child at the time around 10 years old, we were standing in front of a grave. The grave belonged to my childhood friend Sakura Chiba, she had died in a car accident. She was my only best friend and my crush, she was going on a vacation to a spot I told her about. The world seemed grey as everything was blocked out, tears poured down my face mixing with the rain, I didn't care that i was wet, how could I? At the time it may have been irrational but I truly believed should I had been different I could have somehow saved her, it was irrational but I did believe it. My mother and father consoled and told me that no one is perfect, it was the only thing I heard before I droned out again. The feeling didn't go away, it caused me to pick up different things, karate, judo, kendo etc.
But… maybe if I was perfect maybe I could've thought ahead and told her to go another day, it was heavily raining on that day. Maybe if I was stronger, smarter, better things would've been different.
I let out a heavy sigh, I look over to see everyone else asleep. I bring my fist out and clench it, determination burning in my eyes. This time I will be the best, the strongest!
