It doesn't matter in what form, but if you eat or kill the essence, you will be able to absorb a part of the soul's memory, which is called "Experience Points," the receptionist began to explain while the typewriter was doing its job.

- On this card, the experience points that the adventurer absorbed will be shown here. Your level corresponding to the absorbed experience points, it will show how strong you are at the moment. As experience points accumulate, all creatures at some point become dramatically stronger, and this is called a level increase... Simply put, increasing the level will give you all sorts of advantages like skill points, due to which you will be able to learn new skills. So please work hard to raise your levels.
