Chapter Twenty Four: A New Setback

Kara found herself still alone with the darkness. After her screams, Gwen had dissapeared. And Kara was all alone. Kara knew she was harsh, but she stood firm and confident in the words she spoke. In her heart, she blamed Gwen for what had happened. If she had not met her, she would have never crossed certain boundaries. She would have been kept pure. She would have been able to give herself completely to Gabriel. Something she could never truly do now. She had been tainted by Gwen's touch. And she felt disgusting because she had ever let things go so far with her. Though, she had wished she could have apologized in the past, she now no longer wanted to apologize. All she wanted was Gwen to be as far from her as possible. Whilst she was a world apart from her now, Kara knew she would return back to the Underworld someday. This was a reality that Kara knew all too well. She would have to face her in the future. The encounter would be inescapable. It had to be done for the sake of the Underworld.

" I don't care " Kara says to herself. " If The Underworld dies..let it be. I just want My Gabriel back" Kara knew that The Underworld needed her, and without her, it would die slowly but surely. Though, if she could not have Gabriel, then the world wasn't worth living in. She didn't want to return without him.

Kara opened her eyes and awoke in her bed, starving. She wasn't sure how much time had passed since she tried the meditation but she knew she had to find Gabriel. She walked through the city, searching for Gabriel but found nothing except faces that of the inhabitants that she did not recognize. She passed by and noticed Margerat through the window of the shop. "Maybe she knows where he is.." Kara thought to herself as she entered the shop and tapped Margerat on the shoulder.

" Oh..it's about time you woke up" Margerat said to Kars as items were placed on the counter for Margerat to take. And with the exchange of a few dollars, she took the items and turned back to Kara. " Where is Gabriel? " Kara asked, much to the annoyance of Margerat. " I don't know, but you both missed the meeting...supposedly he left town" Margerat walked past Kara. She didn't have time to deal with the drama of their relationship and needed to keep moving. She had far too many things to do.

" He went to fight the Vampires on his own then.." this caught Margerat's attention. " How do you know that? " She asked, knowing that if Gabriel went after the Vampires by himself, he would surely be overwhelmed.

" He told me he was going to do that.." Kara sighed as she made her way out of the building and down the street, now being followed by Margerat. " Wait..why would he go by himself and not take you? He can't fight them himself" Margerat was worried that this was not going to end well.

" Because he ended things with me. And he doesn't want me around him. He hates me right now. And he isn't alone, I'm almost certain he took that Lycan girl with him to go fight them.." Kara said as she continued down the street, Margerat trying to keep up with her. " Wait, Lycan girl? Ended things? He is going to get himself killed! " Margerat expressed as she tried to avoid bumping into people on the street.

" He probably would, but I'm going to ensure that doesn't happen" Kara explains. She had every intention of following Gabriel, despite his warnings to go back home. She wasn't going to leave his side. Not after everything they had been through. She would make him see reason. " Whilst I would normally say you should respect his boundaries, he needs all the help he can get.." Margerat says. "I will gather my people and take you to him " Margerat offered as she turned to walk away. " No Need.." Kara tries to teleport to Gabriel but finds that she is still in the same city. " What..? " She questioned as she tried to teleport again.

" What is wrong? " Margerat turns back to Kara. " I don't know! I'm trying to teleport and it's not working..." Kara panics, this was never a problem before. How is this such a problem now? " I will get my people together and we will make our way there" Margerat Sighs and heads the opposite way down the street

" I still have my magic...so why isn't this working.." Kara tried to teleport again and again but nothing seemed to happen. Nothing had really changed unless this had something to do with Her and Gabriel's relationship. " But my magic is separate from that..it wouldn't make sense" Kara was puzzled and deeply concerned.

" I know that me and Gabriel's bond has been affected but that has nothing to do with this. What if I can't get to him in time? What if I can't save him? " Kara panicked even more at the thought of losing Gabriel again to death. A future she refused to face.
