Chapter Sixty Nine: The Old Ones

As they sat there listening to the old lady both penny and raven found themselves any curious position. They had now learned that somehow, Ravens ancestors, and Penny's for that matter, had something to do with the prophecy and fate of the world. They wanted to know more but the elderly Witch was tight lipped about disclosing more details.

" We just want to know what you are talking about. How do you know that Raven is different? And how do you know her ancestors.." Penny questioned as the Elder Witch shook her head.

" If you do not know, then I cannot tell you. This knowledge is forbidden even for me to know now. They couldn't erase what once was, but they did eliminate what would become of us" The Witch explained which only increased the concern from Raven and Penny.

" Listen, if they silenced talking about it, then I understand you are putting yourself at risk by telling us. But if these people, are of my kind..then I deserve to know more than anyone " Raven tried to reason.

" And what do you mean by her kind? Is she not a Witch? " Penny added. There were several different forms of Witches but most were completely common. The only uncommon ones had almost completely died out, even long before Ravens time.

" I cannot speak of it, to even speak the names could bring hell upon this home however I can tell you that the answers that you seek are far below this kingdom. Closed off from the modern beliefs that we have come to accept" the Witch warned.

" But, to access that, you would need alot more than what you have with you. And by doing so, even if you could, would surely bring doom upon us all" She added.

" How would this bring doom. Even the darkest of magic can have benefits weilded by the proper Witch, with the proper intentions" Raven argued which seemed to upset the elder even more.

" The knowledge, the power that is down there is beyond any intention and cannot be weilded. It can only be as it is" she explained and then stood up in an instant and began waving her hands frantically, motioning for Penny and Raven to leave her home.

And though they tried to reason with her to allow for more answers, they were met with a quick shove, a slammed door, and locks signifying they were no longer welcome.

" Well this isn't what we were looking for, but this could be helpful" Penny pointed out.

" It could be, but it could also paint a bigger target on our backs than we already have. Nevertheless, I think we need to find the truth that the Royal family doesn't want getting out to the public. And why it is so horrible..and why I am so.." Ravens mind began to trail off to the treatment she had recieved whilst at the Kingdom. She knew she was an outsider despite being a Witch. And she knew something was always different about her but to learn that her history dates back to possibly ancient magic..this was something she couldn't help but be curious about.

" But I thought you didn't want to go into the castle? " Penny knew that bringing Raven inside would be a huge risk, Raven was the most hesitant when they arrived and yet now, Raven seemed determined and disregarding of the risks involved.

" Well, I guess we will have to see how bad they want these secrets kept" Raven looked towards the giant castle at the center of town, and knew that she was risking her freedom by returning. But this was a risk that she was willing to take.
