How Does He Knows?

"Your majesty! I don't agree with what you just said!" Ngu Lao voice behind the king.

The king slowly turned his head. His eyes got colder, and his voice deeper,

"What did you just say?"

"Your majesty. I think don't my master has to be punished for what I did is wrong."

The king surprisingly calmed, asked, "Go on."

"Your majesty, even though prince Hung Dao is my master, that doesn't mean he can control what I do or say. You can not control a dog's action, let alone a human being."

The king looked at Ngu Lao with interest. No one had ever dared to be this straightforward to him before. "So you are saying that I am wrong?"

"With all my respect. Yes, I think your approach is wrong."

The king looked at Ngu Lao again. The beautiful lotus pond felt like hell.

"Is that all you have to say?" the king finally spoke.

Ngu Lao was surprised that the king can read his mind. Since he has come this far, he doesn't have anything to lose anymore.

"No your majesty. I have one more thing to say. I beg you to listen."

"I am listening."

"I also strongly believe that letting princess Thien Thanh to Toghon is only a short term solution. Sooner or later, Yuan will find some reason to invade Dai Viet."

"Do you think your king is that stupid? Of course, I know that" the king said.

Their faces: Ngu Lao, Hung Dao, Thien Thanh, were shocked to hear that.

"If … If you know, why did you still do that?"

"How dare you to question your king!?" the king suddenly got angry.

"I'm… I'm sorry, your majesty," Ngu Lao lowered his head so fast that he hit the ground. He was hurt so much but wouldn't dare to make a sound.

"Because you are new to the palace and loyal to your country, I will forgive this time," the king finished and walked away.

Hung Dao, Ngu Lao, and Thien Thanh still kneeled on the ground even after the king left because they were still traumatized with what just happened.

"Thien Thanh, let's stand up," Hung Dao was the first one to wake up from the nightmare. He lent his hands and helped Thien Thanh stand up. "Are you good?" he asked.

"Yes, I'm fine. Thank you for worrying about me," Thien Thanh replied with a smile.

"Ngu Lao, you should stand up too," he called Ngu Lao.

"Ah, yes my prince," Ngu Lao also stood up.

"I'll help you go back to your place. You should go back to father too, Ngu Lao," Hung Dao finished and left with Thien Thanh.

Now, the only one that was on the lotus pond was Ngu Lao. He stood there for a long time to processed his conversation with the king because there is something he can not understand,

"How does the king know that I'm new to the palace?"
