Fight for Love

The wedding for princess Thien Thanh was scheduled to be in three months after that night. The ambassador went back to Yuan on the third day, and palace lifestyle went back to normal. At least that was what it seemed like. Secretly, the king ordered Hung Dao and his father to train the soldiers aggressively. No one knows the reason for this except the king, Hung Dao, and his father. Using this as a training opportunity, Ngu Lao was put into training as well. With his charming personality, Ngu Lao quickly became friends with other soldiers and they started treated each other like family within few days. The continuous cycle of training day after day went on for three months. Without realizing the time, the day before the marriage of princess Thien Thanh had come.

"Are you well my prince," Ngu Lao was concerned about Hung Dao.

"I am fine. Go training. We don't have much time left," Hung Dao finished and locked himself in his room. Ngu Lao knew that he could not say anything to ease his prince, so he went back to training.

That night, Ngu Lao was going back to his room when he saw Hung Dao shadow through the window. The figure was drinking. Ngu Lao stood outside to guard so that no one could see his prince like this.

"Ngu Lao," the figure inside called.

"Yes my prince," Ngu Lao answered.

"Come in."

Ngu Lao hesitated, but he walked in anyway and closed the door behind. Hung Dao's room was surprisingly simple compared to other royal members. There was only a bed, an eating table with some seats, a working table, a bed, a hanger for his sword and armor, and bookshelves full of military books.

"Sit down here," Hung Dao said, and Ngu Lao sat. "Ngu Lao, if a girl you love dearly has to marry someone else, how will you respond?"

This was a difficult question for Ngu Lao since he had never liked any girl before, but when thinking about his mom, he answered, "My prince, I will probably feel very depressed and wanting to fight the guy who will marry her. But that is only a natural reaction, after that, I will think seriously about who she is marrying. If he is a good person, I am happy for her and wish for their future well. If he is a bad person, then I will fight to my death to have her."

"Hm. Very good answer. I am thinking like that as well," Hung Dao nodded. "Do you think Toghon will be a good husband?" Hung Dao asked again.

Ngu Lao closed his eyes to analyze all the information about Toghon that he knew, "My prince, you know that I am an honest person and won't sugarcoat anything right?

"Yes. That is why I am asking your opinion because I know you are honest," Hung Dao said.

"Then here is what I think. Toghon, from what I heard, is a very ambitious and calculated person. He had never met princess Thien Thanh marry him, most likely he will only treat her as a pawn for his plan to conquer the south. From that alone I think Toghon will not care and treat princess Thien Thanh well," Ngu Lao explained.

"So what do you think I should do then?" Hung Dao asked. His eyes were full of intentions. Ngu Lao saw this and went along.

"If you and her are normal people, I will encourage you, as a man, to give it your all and fight for your love," Ngu Lao said.

"But?" Hung Dao asked.

"But you two are not ordinary people. It will be treason and you could face your death."

"Ngu Lao, what can power be if it is not used to protect the loved ones."

Ngu Lao immediately understood Hung Dao's intentions. He kneeled and said, "My prince, you can not do that, not only will it be treason, your name will be blamed in history forever!"

"Ngu Lao," Hung Dao called. "Will you think of me as history will?"

"No my prince. To follow you, I have acknowledged that you are a good person."

"Then there is no need to talk anymore," Hung Dao smiled.

Ngu Lao raised his head up, "But…"

"How can you serve a master that couldn't protect his loved ones? Ngu Lao, your master is not a weakling," Hung Dao smiled again.

Ngu Lao didn't respond. Instead, he stood up and put his hands up to follow Hung Dao's command.

"Let's sneak into the princess room," Hung Dao calmly said.

"What!? My prince! That is ins…" Hung Dao unexpectedly fainted Ngu Lao using his martial arts. He carefully placed Ngu Lao's body to rest on the table.

"Sorry," Hung Dao closed the door and left.

The next morning,

"Ahhh!"
