Mai could not stop fawning over Midori on their way back.
"Gosh, Ojou-sama, you were so cool!" She cried out in excitement. "The way you handled everything. You are my heroine, forever and always!"
Midori chuckled.
"Silly girl. You better learn from my bitter experience. Do not let any family abuse you for three long years."
In Midori's defense, it was the original host who endured all the hardships without a word of complaint. They might share the same name, but Midori never wanted to be a bully victim, not even for a day.
Mai's face quickly fell when she heard Midori's words.
"I am not as strong as Ojou-sama," she sighed. "If I ever find myself in the same situation, I may never find the strength to escape the wretched life."
"Oh, don't say that," Midori smacked Mai on her back hard. "We all find unexpected strength in our most desperate moments."
