Phenex knew what he was doing was just an attempt to temporarily escape from his sorrow by indulging himself in pleasure. And yet it wasn't only about that.

He had long since held affection for Kinvara and while this might have been sudden, it also felt right.

Holding her close to his body, gave him back a sense of reality. It calmed his troubled heart and brought his mind back to the present, banishing the overwhelming grief he had been drowning in.
