Chapter 30
“Good afternoon, Marianna,” he said, “may I present Dr. D’Argenzio and Dr. Rosati. They’ll be coming to work here in the near future and would like to meet Dr. Sanderson.”
She picked up the handset of her telephone, punched a button, paused for a second, and said something unintelligible into the handset. She replaced it and said, “Dr. Sanderson will be with you in a minute.”
A full thirty seconds later, the door to the inner office opened, and a tall gray-haired man came striding through it. “Hello, Trevor,” he said, “I gather you’ve brought some distinguished visitors.” Without waiting for a reply, he extended his right hand and continued, “I’m Malcolm Sanderson.”
Dani and I introduced ourselves as we shook the proffered hand.
“Pleased to meet you,” Dr. Sanderson said. “Come in and make yourselves comfortable.”
