The knight's faith

''Are you all right my lord,'' Eiden watched a worried Arin's face.

Eiden grinned at him ''Oh I'm just peachy, but next time you try to work behind my back, it will be the last time you do so.'' He made sure to really accentuate the last six words.

Arin got to send shivers down his spine, ''I'm sorry I don't think I understand what you are saying my lord I would never do such a thing.

''Save it, captain, do you find me a fool, you told that boy to take a dive and now you are looking me in the face and telling me you don't know what I'm saying. You try that again and see how much patience I have pretenders.'' Said Eiden, with anger in his eyes.

Much like Gary, Arin was also presented with an impossible decision and now the one who was at fault for his state of being is giving him a really hard time. Being someone's dog when being beneath that person's power is one of the great injustices most men have to endure if they want to survive in the world, but knowing that made his current injustice feel no less bitter. ''I'm sorry my lord all I was trying to do was keep you safe.''

Eiden stood up, he was 6ft tall, 10 inches above the captain's height, so he was looking down at the frightened man. He thought to himself in some novel in his homeworld, the villain would stab the poor captain just to satisfy his sadistic tendencies. But Eiden despite not being a jolly good fella, still wasn't needlessly cruel and wasteful. After a few minutes of staring the man down, he took a deep breath and exhaled. ''All I want in the future is for you to do what I tell you to do, I also want you to honestly advise me and during that, you can tell me all the reservations you might have, but when I tell you to do something you do that thing. Am I clear?''

''Yes sir, crystal.''

'' Good, take this and have a drink or two with the men,'' Eiden tossed him a few gold coins and turn to Gary. He offered to him his hand to stand up, and the man gladly took it.

So here is the thing Gary, I congratulate you for your promotion and a pay rise and also my condolences for your face, well to be fair it's not exactly an improvement but not a major setback either.'' Said Eithen, while trying not to burst out laughing.

Gary was too relaxed by the sudden good news he blurted out, ''Well to be fair sir, you are no looker yourself at the moment. There could be heard a collective pin drop as soon as he said that, all the eyes were on him.

''Oh is that so? You dare insult your master's visual appearance?'' Eiden's face turned into that of pure fury. ''Somebody gives me a sword and I mean a real one.'' As soon as he asked, the captain quickly yet reluctantly gave him one. The Kidd is a moron through and through, he thought. First, he endangered the life of a young lord, and then on top of that he even insults him. I would be lying if I said that besides pity I don't feel a certain degree of schadenfreude.

The young soldier after seeing the sword quickly fell to his knees. In a shaking voice, he spoke,'' my lord, I'm truly sorry for my impudent behavior, I have no words with which I could express my sincere regret, I truly hope my death could grant you that which my life was unable to do.

Eiden touched the soldier's neck with the blade of the sword, and then rose the sword above his head. There was extreme quietness in the moments before death notice Gary, started moving slower and everything seem less real than normal. It was as if he was put in a trance and all he could think of was how one mistake would cost him everything, the honorable, high-paying position, the chance to speak again with a certain delightful young girl he loved dearly, and most importantly his future. But the thing that hunted him the most was the image of his father receiving the news of his son's dishonorable death. After being accepted amongst the knights the first time his father told him that he was proud of him and now everything was lost. He closed his eyes, and the blade fell.
