Magic Training Begins

"Morning." Sky said to Jake as he got down from the stairs and saw Jake already having breakfast at the dining table.

"Good morning." Jake replied.

"Hey can I get a picture?" Sky asked.

"You want another picture?" Jake asked him.

"Yeah."

"What for?"

"Nothing. I just want another picture." Sky said.

"Will you at least let me finish eating first?"

"Sure." Sky said as he got his own food and sat down to eat. "Has dad left for work yet?"

"No."

Coming down the stairs in a hurry, Andrea was still knotting his tie. "Morning boys."

"Dad, looks like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Sky said.

"I'm in a hurry." Andrea replied while drinking a cup of coffee and still knotting his tie.

"I think you should slow down." Jake said.

"I can't, I'm already late." Finishing his coffee and leaving the tie knotted halfway, Andrea headed to the door. "Good day at school today." he said as he left the house and got into his Glist.

"Are you done eating?" Jake asked Sky.

"Yeah let's go." Picking up his bag, Sky was already leaving the house behind Jake before he stopped him. "Wait."

"What is it?" Jake asked.

"The pic."

"Seriously? We might be late to school."

"Then we better take it quickly." Sky said.

"Fine."

After snapping the pic, Jake and Sky left the house and headed for school.

"Any luck with your magic yet?" Sky asked.

"Yeah. I actually used the healing magic I mimicked last night."

"How'd you do it?"

"I just used Dad's tips. Used an emotion as the trigger."

"Can you use the magic again?"

"I think so." Jake replied. "Why?"

"Show me."

"I should show you?"

"Yeah. I wanna see you use the magic."

"You know it's called healing magic for a reason right?" Jake asked.

"Yeah." Picking up a stone from the ground, Sky made an injury on his hand.

"What did you do?" Jake asked.

"I made an injury so you can heal it." Sky answered.

"I don't even know if I can do it."

"Well try."

Placing his hands over the wound, Jake focused on using his anger to trigger the magic. He knew he wasn't supposed to use anger as a trigger, but he didn't see any downside in using it as a trigger for healing magic.

When he saw the green light coming from his hands, he stopped using anger as the trigger and switched to using the happiness of doing magic. Using happiness to keep the magic flowing, the wound on Sky's hand healed up in a couple of seconds.

"That was amazing." Sky said after the wound healed. "A healer has used the healing magic on me before, when I fractured my wrist, but knowing that soon I'll also get my own magic is so fabulous."

"You'll get your magic soon?" Jake asked.

"Yeah, when I become a third year."

"And that's soon?"

"Do you really have to kill my joy right now? Let me have this moment." Sky said.

"Alright."

Getting to school, they each went separate ways to class. Going to the hall where his group was selected by Miss Anna, Jake saw some members of his group along with the teachers who had introduced themselves the previous day.

"Hey guys." Jake said as he got to where his group members were sitting. "Where's Max?"

"He's not in school yet." Diane answered.

"What are we waiting for?" Jake asked.

"School hasn't started yet." Kevin responded. "There's still a few minutes left."

"Have you seen Cat?"

"Yeah I saw her at the back with her group." Kevin said.

"If I'm not back when they're about to start, call me." Jake said as he walked away.

"What are we, your servants?" Kevin asked.

"Smith call me." Jake shouted.

Reaching the back of the hall, Jake saw Cat's group and went to meet them.

"Morning ladies." Jake said with a smile.

"Jake," Nikki said as she went to hug him, "is it just me or do you look cuter today?" she said when she stepped back.

"Hey Nikki. Where's Cat?" Jake asked.

"She went to the lavatory, she'll be back soon."

"I never asked you Nikki, what's your magical ability?"

"I have something called Desire Sensing." Nikki answered. "I will be able to telepathically read the greatest, innermost desires of people."

"Well that's dangerous magic in your hands." Jake said.

"I know. I can't wait to learn how to control it."

*ring* *ring*

Taking his phone from his pocket, Jake saw it was Violet calling him. "Excuse me." he said to Nikki.

Going a few steps away, Jake picked the call. "Violet, how are you?"

"Jake, I'm good." Violet replied. "I heard you third years have gotten your magic now."

"Yeah we have."

"What magic do you have?" Violet asked.

"Wouldn't you want to know. Tell me what your magic is first."

"But I asked first." Violet protested.

"That means you wanna know what magic I have more than I wanna know what yours is."

"Fine. I can create a magical dimension."

"What do you use the dimension for?" Jake asked.

"I can put anything inside it, and I can also go inside it whenever I want."

"That's very nice, but I think mine is a little bit better."

"You don't say. Well what is your magical ability?"

"Magic mimicry." Jake said.

There was silence on the other end of the phone for a while until Jake spoke again. "Are you there?"

"Yeah I am." Violet said. "I was speechless. Magic mimicry is a very good magical ability congratulations Jake."

"Thanks. I'll talk to you later." Jake said as he looked towards Nikki and saw Cat with them. Walking back to meet them, Jake tiptoed behind Cat and grabbed her by her waist then whispered into her ear. "Good morning beautiful."

Smiling and turning back to him, Cat locked her hands around his neck. "Morning." she said as she gave him a kiss on his lips.

"Hello?" Nikki interrupted. "As cute as this is, Summer and the teachers are getting onto the podium."

Getting a text on his phone, Jake looked at it and saw a message from Smith.

Smith: The teachers are about to start talking.

Jake: Thanks.

After replying Smith, Jake turned around to face the podium with one hand still on Cat's waist.

"I am sure all of you know which teacher is going to be training your group, each teacher is going to lead you to where they will be training you from now on. When the teachers call out their groups, follow them to your training room."

"Groups M, N and O." Mr Nilt called out. "Follow me." The groups followed him as he went through a door next to the podium.

"Groups B, E and G." Miss Anna called. "This way." Following her was Jake, Smith, Kevin, Diane, the now present Max, along with members of Groups B and E. They followed her into a very large room with lots of equipments.

They could see a treadmill, a large doll standing on the floor, a red machine which was by the wall, a large television screen with some devices on the stand beneath it, different weapons such as pairs of gauntlets, swords, bows and arrows, spears, guns, and lots more hanging on a board placed at the back of the room. Beside the board for weapons, there was another board for shields and armours.

"From now onward, this will be our training room." Anna stated. "We will not go home when classes are over for the day, you stay here and train until I say you can leave. Do you all understand?"

"Yes ma'am." they answered.

"First thing's first, what are your magical abilities?" Anna asked.

"Force field generation." Max said.

"Poison secretion." a person from another group said.

"Regeneration."

"Possession."

"Transmutation."

"Healing magic."

"Colour magic."

The students kept on saying what type of magic they had and Anna was nodding until she heard one of them say something that got her attention.

"Magic mimicry."

"Wait." Anna said. "Did you say magic mimicry?"

"Yes." Jake answered.

"Come with me." Anna said and walked away from the other students to a corner of the room. "Have you figured out your condition?" Anna asked Jake when she was sure the others couldn't hear them.

"What condition?" Jake asked acting ignorant.

"You don't have to play dumb with me." Anna told him. "I know Dr. Thomas told you there's a condition you have to meet to be able to mimic the magic of others. Do you know what your condition is?"

"Yes." Jake answered.

"What is it?"

"Sorry Miss Anna, but I can't tell you that. Telling others my condition puts me at risk."

"You're a smart kid. You're absolutely right, you shouldn't tell people the condition for you to use your magic no matter what."

"So you're not mad I didn't tell you my condition?" Jake asked.

"No, that was a test. I wanted to see if I was right about you." Anna answered.

"Were you?"

"Yes I was."

Going back to the other students, Anna kept on listening to the names of the magical abilities the students had, while Jake decided this was a good time to check if he had mimicked Cat's ability. He skipped the messages about him meeting the condition for mimicking magic and went directly to the screen where he would see his mimicked magic.

[Mimicked magic: Empathic Telepathy]

'Looks like I mimic magic definitely through touch, and I can only mimic one person's magic at a time for now. Now I have to figure out how long I have to touch the person before I can mimic the magic.'
