Moving past the bouncer at the gate who had to make a call to confirm about letting Smith in because he didn't have an invitation card, Jake and Smith were amazed at how grand the house was. The house was a massive mansion with two large swimming pools, a huge gazebo by the side and other things Jake could not begin to start listing. Going into the house, the music being played was booming so loudly you could barely hear someone talking.
They saw Kevin who signalled to them he's going to meet them later because he was currently dancing with a girl. Shaking his head and moving towards the counter, Jake ordered drinks for himself and Smith. "Relax man." Jake said to Smith. "It's a party, have some fun. Go find yourself a girl to dance with, like Kevin."
"What will you do?" Smith asked him.
"I'm going to see if Cat's around. Trish had to have invited her." Jake said raising his voice in order for Smith to hear him better.
"Okay but don't take long." Smith told him nervously looking around.
Leaving the counter and heading to the back of the house, Jake was still searching for Cat when he bumped into a girl making her cup fall to the floor. "I'm so sorry." Jake apologised to the girl.
"It's okay," the girl said, "but you owe me a drink."
"I think that's fair. Hold on I'll get it for you." Going to another place at the back where drinks was gotten, Jake got drinks for two and went back to the meet the girl. "Here." he said as he got to the girl and gave her one of the drinks.
"Thanks." the girl said as she took the drink. "Wanna dance?" the girl asked him already pulling him to the dance floor.
"I'm not really a good dancer." Jake said to her.
"Come on, just move your body and try to sync with the music." Dancing to the music, she grabbed both of Jake's hands and was trying to get him to move with the music.
"I think I'm getting it now." Jake said to her after a while of her leading him. Lots of minutes later, they both went to take a seat due to the exhaustion from dancing. "I don't think I've ever danced so much in my life." Jake said laughing.
"I've danced for way longer." the girl said. "I only stopped for your sake."
"Well I appreciate it. I'm Jake."
"I'm Violet."
"Nice to meet you Violet. I don't think I've seen you at school before."
"That's because I'm a senior. Hold on I'll get us drinks." Getting drinks from the same place Jake went, Violet came back and gave one of them to Jake. "As I was saying, we seniors aren't usually in school. We're always going on expeditions to different planets."
"Seriously?" Jake asked surprised. "No wonder I never see any of you guys. What are the expeditions for?"
"Training. We've already learnt all the book stuff in our previous years so the last year before we graduate is for training us to learn how to protect ourselves and making us aware of how much we're yet to see."
"That sounds cool."
"No not really, some..."
"Damn it!" Jake exclaimed. "I'm sorry I gotta go. I came with this friend of mine who's very shy and I forgot all about him." Jake told her referring to Smith.
"No problem. Go ahead."
"Okay, I enjoyed the dance." Jake said walking away before turning around and coming back. "Hey, give me your number." Jake said giving her his phone to put in her number.
After that Jake went back to the front of the house hoping to still find Smith there. Reaching the counter, Jake looked around but couldn't find Smith. "Where is he?" Jake asked himself while moving around trying to find either Smith or Kevin. "Shit! I forgot about Cat too." Not finding any of them there, Jake climbed the stairs going to the first storey.
Getting there, there was another place for drinks and there were also games to be played. Jake saw people playing games like pool, darts, chess and lots more. Seeing how much larger this place was, Jake gave up. Instead of running around looking for them, Jake decided to send a message to them.
Jake: Hey Cat. Are you at the party?
Cat: Yes I am. Where are you?
Jake: I'm on the first floor, where are you?
Cat: I'm on the second floor, close to the arcade games.
Jake: Don't move, I'm coming to meet you.
Cat: Ok.
Going to the floor above him, Jake saw lots of people drinking the alcoholic beverages which was clearly available in abundance on this floor. Looking around, there were lots of people who Jake had seen only once or twice in school.
"I guess today must be a free day for them or something." Jake spotted the arcade games and went over there. "Cat." he said when he got there and saw her.
"Jake. When did you get here? " Cat asked slurring a little.
"A while ago." Jake answered. "Are you drunk?" Jake asked surprised.
"What? No." Cat said still slurring a bit. "Okay maybe a little, I only had a few drinks my friends got for me."
"Hello there beautiful." said a guy coming from behind Cat putting his hands on her waist.
Turning around Cat removed his hands and told him "Don't touch me."
"What's wrong babe? A guy can't see something beautiful and appreciate it?" he asked putting his hands on her waist again going lower this time.
"Hey," Jake said grabbing the guy's hands and throwing them off. "She said don't touch her."
Looking at Jake, the guy laughed. "And who are you?"
"I'm a friend of hers. Now back off." Jake said pulling Catherine behind him.
"Looks like we got a hero in here." the guy shouted over the booming music attracting the attention of people close by. "I'll tell you what, if you can lay a finger on me I'll leave your girlfriend alone. But if you can't, you see that room over there?" he said pointing to the first room that was down the hallway. "Your girlfriend is going in with me." the guy said smirking. "So, what's it gonna be?"
