An Unexpected Revelation

The power of the Melynxs was their energy which they could release from their body. There were different power levels of the energy which the Melynxs could access.

Four gears. Only the Master had access to the fourth gear because when a Melynx becomes the Master, he receives power from the chiefs of the regal families allowing him or her to access the fourth gear of the energy.

The power given to the Master by the chiefs did not affect the energy of the chiefs so the Master was made stronger and the chiefs of the regal families did not get weaker in any way.

It was a process done with only the Master of the melynxs and no melynx had reached the fourth gear without becoming the Master.

Thirty years ago when Andrea was fighting to protect Athriel, he had already accessed the third gear which is why his energy was red but Lumian had only accessed the second gear in which case his energy would be white.

However, now Andrea had no energy because it was taken by the Master and Lumian had now accessed the third gear of his energy.

Andrea's nose was still bleeding but he had put a handkerchief on the nose with one hand to reduce the amount of blood that was flowing out. With his second hand, he pointed the black sword at Lumian, holding the sword in the air steadily.

"Let's be civil about this." Lumian said, though he was clearly satisfied with the headbutt he had given Andrea a moment ago. "And you are bleeding out on my floor. These carpets are not cheap."

"So why don't you tell me where Jake is?" Andrea said.

"You're his father, are you not?" Lumian replied, calmly stepping away from the glass and alcohol that was everywhere on the floor. He called for some workers in the house and they immediately began to clean it up. "You could have easily come here and simply asked for my help in locating your son. I'm his uncle after all so of course I would help."

"Some uncle you are." Andrea said. "You want Jake and Sky here on Vaxoryn so you can train them and make them fight the humans for you."

"That is not true." Lumian said. "They will inevitably fight the humans. I just want to assist them in any way I can."

"How about you stay the hell away from me and my family." Andrea replied.

"And who's going to stop me? You?" Lumian asked, mockery evident in his tone and on his face. "I'm sure you can't even fight a basic human child and win. Talk less about stopping me in any way.

"If I become the next master, you can say goodbye to Jake and Sky forever because then I would have the backing of the entire Melynx race and you will not be able to do anything about it because you are pathetic. And you call yourself my elder brother."

Andrea threw away the handkerchief he put on his nose and was about to grab Lumian again but Lumian held his wrist and swung him to the side, making Andrea hit some chairs with his back and fall to the ground on his side.

"You came here seeking the location of Jake." Lumian said as he put his hands on his hair and tried to style it back again. "Are you not concerned with what happened to Athriel? And your unborn daughter?"

Groaning as he got up from the floor, he spat the blood in his mouth on the floor and stood straight. The workers immediately moved towards the blood Andrea spat on the floor and cleaned it as well.

"What are you talking about?" Andrea asked.

"I'm talking about the fact that for all you know, you could have a thirty year old daughter out there. And you never even bothered to find out." Lumian said, his smile becoming wider at this point.

"I asked you millions of times over the years about what happened to Athriel and the baby. I pleaded repeatedly but you never gave me a clear answer."

"But I did give you answers didn't I?" Lumian replied.

"Tell me clearly now. What happened to them?" Andrea asked.

"I am not inclined to answer any question you may or may not have. But, because I am a good and kind person at heart I will tell you something. Your daughter is alive and well."

Andrea was overcome with relief and he was happy to know that his daughter had survived. "Where is she? How is she alive? What happened to Athriel?"

"I'm tired of this conversation." Lumian said with a fake yawn then took off his blue overcoat which was immediately collected by a worker. He went to take a seat and said, "You can see yourself out can't you?"

"Lumian please, tell me where she is."

"Would you recognize your own daughter if you saw her?" Lumian asked. "If you took a moment and looked into her eyes, would you know it was her? Did you know she works for me?"

"What are you talking about? Just tell me where she is."

Suddenly it hit Andrea. The realization that he could have actually just spoken to his daughter in front of the house and he had failed to know it was her.

Now that he thought about it, she had the same blue eyes Athriel had except Athriel's eyes exuded warmth and showed a bit of timidity but the lady that was outside, Kalvrie, her eyes exuded strength and absolute order within chaos.

"Does our father know about this?" Andrea asked.

"I should hope so." Lumian responded then crossed his legs. "He is the one who ordered that the child be born before Athriel is punished."

"And none of you thought to tell me any of this." Andrea said.

"Why should we? We are not obligated to tell you anything. I sure am not."

Andrea returned the small knife back to his sleeve then stormed out of the house. He knew he had to immediately start looking for Kalvrie who he was almost certain was his daughter (Lumian had practically told it to him but he did not specifically say Kalvrie was Andrea's daughter) but he had one place to be first so he could be certain that Kalvrie was in fact his daughter.
