‘The spot’

“Will you tell me how you are related to Neha? She used to tell me everything, but she never mentioned anyone with the name Siddharth. So, I am asking you the last time, who you are,” she asked when I sat still there for quite some time without saying a single word. What could I answer her for the question that who was I? How could I explain to her that Neha never mentioned my name to her because I was not there in her life two years ago, at least not when she was alive? Was there any way that she won’t think of me as some crazy person after listening to me?

“I need to tell you something, Arushi, but I am not sure if you will believe any of my words because I myself am not sure how to accept that as true,” I replied without looking at her. She was standing nearby me, and I still was sitting on the step of those stairs.

“What is that?” she asked with some concern.
