Origin story and Creatures you should not forget.

Somewhere, deep in the forest lies the unknown. The kingdoms divided into three.

The outcasts , Obscurum and Augurium.

For nineteen years, the kingdom of Auguruim forgot about the twins born to Augurium and the curse of the spirit Duana.

Only a few people remembered.

Not far from a barrier that separated the human world from the unknown, a girl and her family move back to their home.

In that family are members of the unknown under the guise of being human.

But two are important members of the unknown.

One cursed with the spirit of Duana and the other, the lost crown princess of Augurium.

After a few hard times, the two discover who they are and they part ways. The lost princess is plagued and it leads the kingdom to believe she is a hunter, her past rendezvous does not help her either.

The kingdom then causes an uproar on hearing she is to be queen in such a rushed manner.

And when she finally announces the curse of the spirit of Duana is back, she discovers that not all stories that were told were true.

The Odious Queen is back and the only way newly crowned Cordellia can get rid of her is to fight the legend.

Will she be able to defeat the legend that even the gods fear?

So you don't get confused, I'm adding things you need to know about the book. Felt it was necessary.

For starters, let's go into history of the unknown.

History of the unknown

Long ago,it was one kingdom,led under a king called Abner who was loved by his people until his step-sister Duana had declared war on him. She had decided that since she was older, she deserved the throne.

Unknown to them, she had joined hands with dark forced and they had secretly created a kingdom called Obscurum.

She had defeated Abner and had rulled the kingdom of Augurium which she called Obscurum with an iron hand. For years, no one dared to go against her despite the hatred they had for her. She truly was an Odious Queen that even the gods feared her.

There was a rebellion, led by the Holland family who had been against her rule from day one. They were scorned against and casted into the list of outcasts for that reason and also because everyone in the family was an hybrid of creatures.

One night, the goddess Selena visited Praelia, the third child of the Holland family and blessed her. Goddess Minerva came shortly after and god Ares came to bless her too.

Praelia was a hybrid of wolf and Fae but had never shifted in her twenty years of living. That night, she had shifted and everyone in the kingdom could feel the power in her howl.

Duana felt threatened by the howl and did something forbidden. She let the dark magic take over her in her quest to be the most powerful.

Her body was not prepared and she could not handle the process so when Praelia suddenly declared war on her, she was defeated so easily.

However, it wasn't that easy to get rid of her. She placed a curse on kingdom for her spirit to never leave and always find a host each time a queen was to be born.

After her death, the monarchy changed and the gods decided a queen would rule the kingdom and she must be a hybrid or more of creatures.

But must have the wolf blood in her.

Two queen's rule passed and no one with the host of Duana's spirit showed up, making the people think she was bluffing.

The curse of Duana was soon forgotten and it became a legend until September 24, 1990

Creatures you'll meet in the book.

Fae- humans call them fairies but in actuality, they are far different than what they are told to be. All true Fae citizens are naturally pale, possess emerald green eyes, and an unnatural beauty. All Fae possess the gifts of tongues, glamour, spells, fight, and limited shapeshifting. The leader of the Fae is Lord or Lady. A Fae gone to the other side is called a Dark Fae.

Werewolves - these creatures can shift into their animal alterego at will or when scared and threatened. They live in packs like actual wolves and have a bond strong enough to hear each other's thoughts. The leader is an Alpha or Luna. Only the leader is allowed to communicate with their wolves in words. A werewolf gone to the other side is called a Rogue. All werewolves have enhanced hearing and sense of smell, quick reflexes and agility. They aren't that great at combat as they prefer to fight in wolf form.

Dryads:

Thеу аrе creatures thаt dwell іn thе trees, preferably Oaks. Mess with their tree and they'll haunt you for life. They do not live together and are independent. They cannot procreate and are usually grown like plants. They are considered outcasts. Dryad's have the ability to cast spells but to a limit. They have the ability to change their appearance from their tree-like forms to irresistible looking humans.

Nymphs:

A type of fairy from Greece, said to be very seductive and are more of a classification of fairies. There are wood nymphs, water nymphs, tree nymphs, grove nymphs, etc. Have a reputation for being obsessed with sex, hence the term for someone addicted to sexual activity. Nymphs are considered outcasts too because of the power they possess. They have enhanced speed and hearing, agility and are surprisingly great at combat. Some have the ability to speak to animals but it is considered as a myth.

Lycans- they are an amplified version of werewolves. They have a longer life span and bigger wolves.

Kappas- means 'river child's They are typically depicted as green, human-like beings with webbed hands and feet and a turtle-like carapace on their back. Kappa are usually seen as mischievous troublemakers or trickster figures. Their actions range from the comparatively minor, such as looking up women's dresses if they venture too near to water, to the outright malevolent, such as drowning people and animals, kidnapping children, raping women and at times eating human flesh. They are one of the many reasons a barrier was put between the human and unknown. They are obviously outcasts and are sometimes found in Obscurum.

Elves- they are strongly associated with magic and nature. They are often seen in clans and due to their history, are always seen serving royalty. Due to one of the effects of the curse of Duana, most of the elves lost their magic and are left with their connection to nature only. Elves are naturally beautiful and one of their beauty marks are their sharp pointed ears. They are trained to adapt to any situation they are found in. Elves gone to the other side are the complete opposite and are hideous creatures called goblins. They can slip through the barrier and often borrow magic from unsuspecting Faes to glamour themselves and lure humans to their doom. They are awfully obsessed with money and it has been found to be their strength and weakness.

Banshees - they are creatures that were created along with the forbidden magic. They are believed to come from the other world to warn people of an oncoming death. They are outcasts and do not stay on either side of the world as they do not belong there. They are known to plague the human as much as they plague the unknown.

Spirits - are creatures blessed with abilities and Serve as guardians to people. They are often believed to be the lost souls of dead people.

Witches- the embodiment of magic themselves. They are usually found in groups called Covens. They make use of spells more than anything. Some are believed to have flight but it's really just spells. Are good in combat and seriously loyal. Witches gone to the other side are Dark Witches who make use of Dark magic.

Sorcerers - an advanced version of witches and are feared by even the strongest of all. They are ruthless and are mostly feared because of their connection with the forbidden magic. Their power is too extreme for the other creatures and are said to be too toxic to stay around. They feed on any creature in sight and are outcasts.

Vampires - creatures who are believed to be only active in the night but it is not so. Vampire leaders are called Lord or Lady and the royals possess each a unique ability to help keep the kingdom safe. Vampires have advanced hearing, sight, speed, ability and have a reputation for making potions. They also have a terrible reputation of being addicted to sex and when starved of it, can go to drastic measures. Vampires do not really need blood to survive except during a particular time of the year. Vampires are naturally outcasts but are working their way into both Obscurum and Augurium.
