CHAPTER 9

Some days after, there were chatters heard among the workers in his company, if they weren't a manufacturing company, they would have been known as the news company because they spread news like wildfire before it even came to the ears of the public, this time they were talking about Miss Tan and her daughters death, no one would have been able to suspect that the anonymous gift killer was the culprit because he had no reason to kill her and his method of killing his victims were totally different.

"This is horrible! Who would do such a horrible thing to Miss Tan and her daughter?" Ha Na said with a twisted face of contempt and sadness.

"Maybe she was owing a debt to someone and the person killed her out of anger for not paying." A middle aged man concluded and they glared at him.

"Will you just shut it! Nothing you ever say makes sense, I wonder how you got a job here." Ha Na yelled angrily at the man.

"I heard her daughter's head was brutally crushed, how scary." A young lady chipped in. Miss Tan's and her daughters death were sad news to the employees of the company since they frequented the place regularly and had become close customers to the owner of the bar.

"The culprit must be a sick psycho!" Ha Na exclaimed with eyes widened.

"She was just a little girl, I feel bad for both of them." The other lady continued. Dae Hyun smiled inwardly, 'they acted like they really cared when all they cared about was something to gossip on', he thought inwardly as he strode to the elevator.

"Sir!" He heard Ha Na's annoying voice call him and he rolled his eyes but he quickly replaced it with a smile as he turned to face her. "Did you hear the tragic news?" She asked, skillfully trying to make him notice her boobs that threatened to spill out of her tight top, he laughed inwardly at her ignorance and stupidity.

"What tragic news?" He asked with a purely curious expression on his face as he adjusted his glasses.

"Miss Tan and her daughter was murdered about a week ago, so horrific." She said with an exaggerated sad look on her face.

"Who are they?" He said pretentiously with an oblivious look on his face as if he had no idea of who they were.

"Don't you remember? The owner of the bar we went to, to celebrate Mr Park's baby's birth." She explained.

"Ahh..I see..I don't really frequent the place but its sad news indeed, I hope they find the culprit." He said hopefully as he turned to leave but then halted before turning to face her.

"Please dress more appropriately next time you come to work." And with those words he left, not waiting for her reply. Her cheeks reddened in embarrassment as she walked away.

.....

Min Hye was about to take the elevator when she saw So Ra walk towards her with a twisted face.

"Miss Cha, can I talk to you for a second?" She said trying to hide the annoyance in her voice.

"Go on." Min Hye said uninterested in her childish bickers that morning, she knew So Ra had feelings for Dae Hyun when she noticed how she looked at him, in fact she wasn't the only one, all the female workers looked at him the same way but how was it her fault he didn't feel the same way.

"in private." She said obviously impatient with her.

"But we have no business to discuss in private so if you can't say it here then I'll be leaving." She made it clear to her with a straight face and So Ra had no choice but to talk there after searching left and right in the corridor to make sure they were alone.

"I just want to know if you have any business with Dae Hyun." So Ra said but Min Hye wasn't surprised at her words.

"Be more specific." Min Hye said in a hard tone and So Ra scoffed. 'what an arrogant bitch' she thought inwardly.

"Are you having an affair with him?" So Ra asked going straight to the point.

"You can't call it an affair when he isn't married or does he have a secret wife I don't know about?" She retorted, her voice filled with mockery and So Ra's eyes shone with anger.

"So its true, barely a month here and you're already sleeping with your boss." She said intending to hurt Min Hye's pride, but she just stared at her with a blank expression.

"But I haven't said anything yet and you're already jumping to assumptions." Min Hye said, her voice was calm and low.

"Really? Then what's your relationship status with him?" So Ra questioned.

"Why should I tell you that? Do I need your permission to date him?" Min Hye's words hit So Ra so hard that tears filled the brim of her eyes, she had been working there for more than two years and tried to gain his attention only to be overtaken by this bitch who had barely stayed a month.

"Hey!!" Her voice was loud enough for the workers to take a peek at the unknown drama that was happening between the ladies. "You're a fucking slut!" So Ra continued, not caring if people were staring at her.

"But I'm not a slut if we're dating." She retorted but her voice was still calm.

"What?!" So Ra's eyes widened as she watched Min Hye enter the elevator and disappeared from her sight. "That bitch!" She cussed under her breath as she stormed out of the corridor in anger.

...

Yoo Na was in her bed when she heard the doorbell ring, both her parents had gone to work so she was at home alone. She sluggishly went to the door and opened it to see a delivery guy with a small parcel on his hand.

"Good day miss, you have a delivery." He said and she took it uninterested to know what it was. She went to her room then slumped on the bed lazily as she threw the parcel on the bed. She couldn't stop thinking about her friend, the gory image of her best friend's dead body couldn't be erased from her mind, she wished that she was there to help her, she couldn't even imagine how scared she would have been, she was always so frail and weak, so she would have obviously been scared to death. Her hands subconsciously ran over their friendship necklace they both had and remembered the bloody one on her friend's neck when she found her body.

She slept till night after thinking about Bae Su for a long time, she had no idea when her parents had come in.

"Yoo Na!" Her mother called but she didn't want to wake up even when she heard her name, waking up would mean her nightmare would continue and she didn't have the strength for that. Her mother walked into her room to see her sleeping.

"Yoo Na, have you eaten?" She asked but she didn't reply. "You can't live like this forever, Bae Su's already dead, I know it hurts but you still have us." Her mother said and she got up abruptly. Her mother was right but still she would do anything and everything in her power to catch the bastard who took her friend's life so heartlessly.

"I know but its not so easy to move on especially with what I saw." She said as her mother took her in her arms as she cuddled her in her arms. Her mother's eyes caught sight of the unopened parcel on her bed.

"What's that?" Her mother asked.

"I don't know." She replied. Her mother took it and opened it with her mouth slightly opened.

"You got in!" Her mother almost screamed in joy. She looked at her mother in confusion.

"What?" She asked.

"That highschool...Whats the name again?" Her mother said trying to recall the name. She immediately knew what her mother was talking about, a few weeks ago, Bae Su and her had written a scholarship exam to enter the prestigious, Elites High since they were giving a free scholarship to sponsor ten students from the second class citizens who would pass the scholarship exam to attend their school. But now Bae Su was dead, even if it was good news, she couldn't even feel happy if she wanted, it was too painful for her, it had been Bae Su's dream to go to the high school and she had only decided to write the scholarship so that they would go to the same school but now what was even the point except to do it for her family.

Her mother watched her pained expression and decided to give her some privacy. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she thought of her friend's fragile life that was snuffed so quickly without even living her dreams.
