CHAPTER 4

It was another normal day, Dae Hyun came out of the elevator on his way to his office and was surprised to see Min Hye already in her work cabin next to his office.

She stood up and bowed slightly and he nodded in response as he walked over to her, her expression still as blank as the other day.

"If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me." He said with a small smile on his handsome face.

"Thank you sir." She replied professionally. He was about to walk away when he heard the chiming of the elevator, about five of his department coworkers came out along with So Ra, Ha Na and Mr Park included.

Dae Hyun watched them walk towards Min Hye with a gift basket and dropped it on the table.

"Congratulations Min Hye, we're glad to have you working with us and this is a small congratulatory gift." They said warmly and Dae Hyun watched as she forced a smile on her face.

"Thank you for your hospitality." She said with an expressionless face and was expecting them to leave.

"We're also celebrating new interns and coworkers with a drink tonight, you should join us." A man added obviously stunned by Min Hye's beauty which made her really uncomfortable and Dae Hyun noticed that she was having a hard time socialising with them in any way.

"Thank you but I don't really drink." She said with the straightest face.

" Then what about Mr Dae Hyun, you should join us since we work in the same department." Ha Na chipped in excitedly twisting her body seductively to gain his attention.

"No I'll be busy, I have a lot of..." Dae Hyun words were cut off by Ha Na pinching his sleeve lightly.

"You're always busy, just one drink." She pleaded batting her heavily made up eyes at him. Dae Hyun gave a charming smile as he adjusted his glasses.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you guys but I can't." He said and was turning away to leave but Ha Na wouldn't give up.

"I won't take no for an answer." She said pouting her lips at him.

Even if the others were blinded by his charming smile and politeness, Min Hye could see the frustration and anger building up in his grey eyes even as he smiled at Ha Na. She abruptly got up and said.

"Sir, you have some paperwork you need to sign." Min Hye said and his attention got diverted to the enigmatic woman. He took the paperwork from her.

"I'll do it right away. I'll take my leave now." He said and dashed into his office, not waiting for any reply. Ha Na left with a disappointed face along with the rest of them.

Dae Hyun was finding Ha Na repulsively annoying and he just wanted to see her die in an aggravating way but what really took over his mind, was how Min Hye could read him.

He realized that she had interrupted Ha Na because there was nothing to sign in the paperwork, so he wondered if she had actually read him or just found Ha Na annoying.

He scoffed at the possibility that he had finally found someone who was like him.

"That bitch!" Ha Na cussed in a low tune but loud enough for someone to hear.

"Whats gotten you so upset?" A lady that had followed them to congratulate Min Hye asked.

"She purposely interrupted our discussion, I was already getting him to say yes until she ruined it." She said with her chest heaving up and down in anger.

"Its OK, he didn't look interested in you anyway." Ha Na's eyes widened in anger at what the lady said.

"What did you just say you bitch!" She yelled loud enough for everyone to hear and everyone's attention were fixed on her.

"Stop making a fuss and be quiet." The lady said and walked out on her.

"You bitch!" She cursed after her and stormed out.

The day had ended and everyone got ready to leave for their respective homes, Min Hye packed her stuff in silence and was about to leave when she heard Dae Hyun's deep raspy voice call her name.

"Miss Cha." He called respectfully and she turned to face him to be greeted by her expressionless beautiful face.

"You can call me by my name." She said flatly and he nodded.

"Since you don't have a car, let me take you home." He offered and her brows creased questioningly for a few seconds.

"Its late and its dangerous especially with that psychotic murderer running around." He said in his most gentle like manner which she found suspiciously too good to be true.

"My house is pretty far from the company, I'll use a cab instead." She insisted instead.

"Don't get the wrong idea, I just want to know who my secretary is personally." He said in a very convincing way and his eyes were sincere so she gave out a sigh and said.

"OK then, if anything happens to me people will suspect you anyway, since you're the last person I was seen with." She said and he let out a short laugh. 'she was intriguing and funny' he thought. She was not afraid to voice out things most people would usually keep hidden.

She followed him to his car and got in, she wondered why she followed him even though she didn't trust him but she wasn't scared, an advantage of her condition.

He started the engine of the car and drove off after she directed him to her house. She was quiet all through and calm with her usual facial expression as she stared out of the window until she broke the silence.

"I don't want people getting the wrong idea about us so please don't drop me home anymore..." She paused for a moment and continued looking out the window before she continued "...I usually don't care about what people think but I care about my ego." She said with a flat low tune and immediately stopped talking.

Dae Hyun was left speechless at her words, he saw her as an enigmatic puzzle that he couldn't quite solve, even his charming personality didn't work on her.

"How did you know that I was annoyed at Ha Na." He asked ignoring her earlier words. For a moment, she turned to look at his face for a split second, he was grinning but it was a dark one.

"It was obvious." She stated as a matter of fact. Dae Hyun's grin reached the corner of his face as he stared at her.

"No, it wasn't. He said and his grin slowly disappeared.

" Maybe not to them." She replied and he let out a dark chuckle, which made her turn to face him, she wondered what was so funny but she doubted it was because he found anything funny. She knew there was something explicitly wrong about him,the way he looked at her, the way he spoke, everything about him felt too calculated, she knew something was wrong but she found a liking to his personality... in a kind of way.

"I see...Do you have a husband or a boyfriend?" He asked and her lashes fluttered.

"No." She heard herself say hurriedly.

"Do you have any medical conditions?" He asked and she wondered why he was asking her weird questions. She made up her mind not to tell him about her Asperger's syndrome.

"No I'm perfectly healthy, why?" She asked with beautiful curious grey eyes that left him speechless for a moment.

"You don't need to be physically sick to have a medical condition." He said and her expressionless face almost turned into a confused one, how did he know about her condition or was he trying to get something out of her?

"What are you talking about?" She asked carefully watching her words.

"You don't have to hide anything from me." He said with an assuring voice and she saw herself thinking, 'what if she told him?'. He seemed understanding and she felt a pull she couldn't understand but she quickly thought against it, telling him she was an Asperger's patient would be telling him she murdered someone and that she loved the feeling of a life taken by her.

"There's nothing to hide, I just enjoy my privacy." She replied quickly.

"I noticed...I like my privacy too." He said but she didn't reply anymore and kept her lips shut pressed in a thin line.

She never had to worry about getting close to anyone and spilling her weird nature but now she was.

Dae Hyun grinned inwardly after his suspicions had been cleared, she was indeed like him and he just felt drawn to her each passing second.

They finally reached her house and she rushed off the car.

"Thank you sir." She said and went off without waiting for his reply. Dae Hyun watched her disappear and for the first time in his life, he longed for a woman.

His eyes gleamed with a dark look. 'So this is where she lives' he thought and a sadistic smile crept to his lips as he drove off.
