CHAPTER 37

It was gym class and Yoo Na had no choice but to attend even though she hated it. They were playing handball and they divided themselves into two teams standing on both sides of the net. Of course, the team Yoo Na was in consisted of less popular kids whose parents were not multi billionaires and scholarship students like herself and Jisoo while the other team consisted of Da Yeon and wealthy kids like her which she didn't min as long as she was not on the same team as her but she was a bit surprised to see Cha Eun on the same team as her. She saw Da Yeon's twisted face because of Cha Eun being on her team but she ignored her as they started playing handball. The students giggled as they were obviously having fun but nothing was fun for Yoo Na anymore as she joined in the exercise with a blank facial expression. Cha Eun watched her for awhile curious on the knowledge she was going to fill him in. He remembered her telling him she would feel him in but she hadn't told him anything yet for the past two weeks but he didn't bother her because he wanted her to tell him in her own comfort but he was tired of waiting and two weeks seemed like more than enough time for her to fulfill her other end of the bargain.

"Yoo Na." He called out her name as he walked over to her. She turned around to meet his gaze wondering why he had called her.

"Can we talk for a minute?" Cha Eun said, hoping she wouldn't refuse because she was just full of surprises and incredibly stubborn too. She nodded her head in affirmation, she thought being with him was a lot better than staying in the annoying gym class.

"Won't we get In trouble for missing gym class?" She asked slightly worried, she didn't want to get into any more trouble to avoid having many bad school records.

"No, it's fine." He assured her and she walked alongside him as they left the gym class. The eyes of many students fixated on them as they walked together and loud murmurings were heard as rumours started flooding in. Da Yeon glared at Yoo Na with disgust as she walked out with Cha Eun because he was In Ra's childhood sweetheart and Yoo Na was supposed to stay far away from him.

"What do you want to talk about?" Yoo Na asked, not wasting any time as she went straight to the point as soon as they were farther away from the gym class. Cha Eun wasn't surprised at her straight forwardness so he was straight with her also.

"You forgot to fill my curiosity." Cha Eun said and she inwardly rolled her eyes, she had thought that he'd forget about it and wasn't expecting him to be so curious about her.

"You should stop being so interested in me or In Ra will be really furious." Yoo Na warned and Cha Eun chuckled softly.

"Why should I care about what In Ra feels?" Cha Eun asked rhetorically.

"I read on the internet both your parents said that both of you are likely to get married in the future, so I really don't want to be in the middle of your love affair, I already have enough problems." Yoo Na said with a stern expression.

"That's what our parents want but you didn't even ask what I want." Cha Eun said with a serious expression.

"I don't mean to be rude but I don't care what you or anyone else wants all I care about is what I want." She said with cold eyes.

"What do you want then?" Cha Eun asked and she knew that he was trying to get her to talk but she wasn't ready yet or ever.

"Why? Do you want to get me what I want?" She asked in doubt. He could see her eyes overwhelmed with resentment and anguish and he deeply wondered what kind of hell she had gone through that made her heart so black with hate.

"Maybe.." He said with genuine eyes but she scoffed.

"I'd rather do it myself, It'll make me feel better." She said with a dark glint visible in her eyes.

"What happened to you?" Cha Eun blurted out as he stared deep into her eyes and she immediately averted her gaze.

"What?"

"Who do you want to kill so badly?" Cha Eun asked and Yoo Na's brows twisted in confusion, she wondered how on earth he knew she was planning to kill someone.

"Did the director tell you?" Yoo Na asked, thinking that was probably it because there was no way he'd have known about her determination to end the serial killer if the director hadn't told him.

"No, I begged him to tell me but he didn't, he said it was personal." Cha Eun said but she couldn't believe him just yet since there was no other way he'd have known.

"Then how did you know?" She asked in doubt.

"I can see it in your eyes, the pain and resentment." He said and she just stared at him speechless for a second.

"My best friend was murdered..." Yoo Na said and his eyes widened slightly as he listened to her. She would have cried talking about it but she felt the kind of pain where she couldn't feel anything anymore, she was numb and cold.

"Do you know who did it?" Cha Eun asked and she shook her head in negation.

"I suspect it's the anonymous gift killer but it was set out like a normal murder but I know it's him." She explained and she saw him shudder slightly as his jaws ticked in anger.

"What's wrong?" She asked warily.

"My mom was a victim of the anonymous gift killer. I was fourteen when her hair was delivered, she had incredibly long hair." Cha Eun explained and Yoo Na's eyelashes fluttered in disbelief at the shocking news. She saw the pain and fury in his eyes when he talked about it, similar to hers but she had grown numb and cold hearted with nothing but revenge constantly on her mind.

"And he's still roaming about after everything he did a free man, he deserves to rot in hell. He enjoys making people suffer and I'll make his suffering ten times more than everyone he's caused pain." Yoo Na said furiously in between gritted teeth.

"You're looking for him to kill him?" Cha Eun asked and she didn't see any risk in telling him her plans.

"Yes, but I have no lead and the only lead I have is that he's left handed." She explained to him and he nodded thoughtfully.

"Let's find him together then, I should do that much for my mom. The police have been investigating for four years but they haven't found anything." Cha Eun said and she didn't see why she would refuse the help.

"Let's do that, but it could take years and will you dedicate your life to catching the killer?" She asked with a serious expression.

"I'll do whatever it takes to catch the bastard." Cha Eun said with burning determination in his eyes.

"The director said his sister was also a victim, that was why he agreed to help me." She said and Cha Eun's brows creased in surprise.

"He never told me about his sister." Cha Eun said in surprise.

"He never talked about his sister?" She questioned warily.

"No, now that I think about it, he never even spoke about his family." Cha Eun said thoughtfully and Yoo Na started having a bit of doubt, she wondered if he lied to her or if he just didn't like talking about his sister's death because it was painful but it was fishy that he never spok about his family so she made up her mind that when next they would meet, she would get to know him better.

"Dae Hyun is left handed." She blurted out and Cha Eun narrowed his eyes at her. "I'm just saying..." Yoo Na said and Cha Eun chuckled softly.

"Do you think he's the killer? That's impossible. He couldn't even help my mom kill a rat when she was alive." He said a bit lost as he relived the old days and it occurred to her that he must have been a long time family friend but what if he just made them see what he wanted them to see? A part of her mind suspected him and a part of her couldn't help but trust his sincerity.

"Just because you're hellbent on catching the killer doesn't mean you should suspect everyone that matches your weak lead." Cha Eun said and she wondered if he was right. Maybe she was suspecting the innocent man because she was determined to catch the killer at all means.
