CHAPTER 12

Yoon Ha dressed up ready to go to the station to find out what ever information she could get on her best friend's murderer. She left early in the morning on her bike, she was determined to find the killer, she couldn't bear to ignore the tragic death of her friend.

She arrived at the police station and took a deep breath before going in. The officers wondered what she was doing at the station.

"Hello my name is Oh Yoon Ha, I'm a friend of Bae Ra, the girl who was murdered with her mother last two weeks." She explained to the female officer who sat behind the counter, her voice trembled slightly as she mentioned the case but she quickly got a hold of herself. The police officer looked at her thinking she had a bit of information for them.

"That's right, but why are you here? Do you have something to tell us?" The officer asked and her head fell low as she shook it in negation, she was fiddling with her fingers now nervously.

"Actually, I was hoping you had some information to fill me on, you see I really want to catch the culprit badly." She said holding back the tears that threatened to fall out of her eyes as she sniffed.

"So..You don't have anything to tell us?" The officer asked.

"No.." Yoo Na said with a low voice. The officer sighed in exasperation as she sat forward.

"Hey, we can't just share information with the public, what are you doing here anyways, shouldn't you be in school?" The officer asked slightly irritated that the girl had just wasted her precious time.

"Just wait a minute, did you check the CCTV around the area?" Yoo Na asked reluctant to leave just yet.

"Most of the CCTV are broken so we couldn't find anything and the ones that work are nowhere near the bar and besides, the case has already been closed since there's no evidence that links to the culprit, everywhere was thoroughly clean, I have better things to do so stop nagging me." The officer said obviously frustrated. Yoo Na couldn't believe the police had just given up on her friend's gruesome murder because of lack of evidence but she knew the real reason they gave up on it was because they were poor and their cases were insignificant to them, if it were a wealthy person, they would continue the investigation whether there was evidence or not till they found someone to blame.

"No! How can you just give up on her like that, did you see how she was murdered? She was 17, she didn't hurt a fly, she was so innocent, she and her mom didn't deserve to die like that and they don't deserve to be given up on like that!" Yoo Na raised her voice, she was furious at the fact that they had given up on her innocent friend who didn't deserve her death and the unfair way the world treated her when she was alive and even after death. The officers attention were drawn to the yelling and crying girl.

"Stop making a fuss and go home, even if we did investigate, we'll never catch the criminal with not a single evidence." The female officer said.

"No, you're just giving up on her because she's poor, if it were a wealthy person you'd investigate the case till your back broke but even after seeing how gruesomely she was murdered, you still don't give a care in the world.." Yoo Na said with anger written all over her face.

"Hey! Watch your mouth or you'll get in trouble for talking to a officer that way." Just then, inspector Han and inspector Do walked in they were the head of the investigation department, they had been partners for over fifteen years and dedicated to their job.

"What is going on?" Inspector Do interrupted as he looked at the weeping child.

"Sir, it's nothing to worry about, she's still grieving about the death of a friend so she's still unsettled but I'll tell someone to drop her home immediately." The female officer replied.

"No! I want to know why you stopped the investigation on my friend's murder, don't you think it was an unfair thing to do? Its been less than two weeks but the case has been closed, why?" Yoo Ha was mad at the system, mad that justice wasn't given to her friend who deserved nothing but good things in life, she had always seen Bae Ra as an Angel and too kind and innocent for this cruel world and the cruelty of the world ended up taking her friend's life in a horrid way. The inspectors watched the girl who's heart was heavy with sadness as she poured out her anger.

"Its okay, please come with us so that we can explain it properly." Inspector Han said and she stood there surprised for a moment that they didn't chase her out. She followed them into the office.

"I can't just give up on my friend and her mom like that, she wouldn't have given up on me and she didn't deserve to die that way." Yoo Ha said almost as soon as they entered the office.

"Sit down." Inspector Han said while the other inspector watched in silence.

"Don't tell me you stopped the investigation because of lack of evidence." She said as soon as she sat down.

"This kind of murder doesn't get solved with investigation or evidence, it gets solved with instincts and brains." Inspector Han said and he was right, he had stopped the investigation not because he gave up on the poor girl and her mother who had died so unfairly but because no matter how much of investigation they carried out, they would never catch the culprit so they relied on their instincts instead.

"So.. You're not giving up on her?" She asked with wide eyes full of hope, that her friend and mom wasn't being abandoned.

"No, we've come up with a few theories but we can't discuss them with you." Investigator Han said.

"Ahh...But I want to help too." She said with eagerness in her eyes.

"You can help by going to school and coming out successful because truthfully, money is the only thing that can help you but catching this kind of perpetrator may take long amount of years and in some cases we may die before we even catch him so I'll advice you to live your life and let us take care of it." inspector Han said and she found a lot if wisdom in his words but she was never going to live her life and forget about Bae Ra, never. In the past, she wasn't even sure of what she wanted to be when she grew up, she had no passion but she was good at studying but she had no dream unlike Bae Ra who wanted to be an opera singer and that was the main reason she had wanted to go to Elites High, but now she was gone as well as her dream but Yoo Na finally had a passion and it was to find her friend's murderer and make him pay at all means even if it meant her becoming a detective.

"Ok I'll do what you ask, but one thing that I can't do is live my life and forget Bae Ra's death, I can never forget that, so I'll dedicate my life to seeing the culprit die in my hands, putting him behind bars will be too merciful." She said, with sharp clear voice, she was risking her all life and everything in the line, Bar Ra was dead and her life was over at such a short length but Yoo Na wasn't going to ever forget...or forgive.

Yoo Na lay on her bed as she thought endlessly, if the police wouldn't share information with her, then she'd dig for information herself, she tried to figure out who held a grudge against them but nothing came in mind but the culprit seemed so smart and calculative like they knew that they would never be caught. She finally remembered something that had escaped her mind. She remembered Bae Ra telling her two days before she died that the police had questioned her mother about a customer who was murdered by the anonymous gift killer, but it didn't make any sense, if it was the anonymous gift killer that killed them, then for what reason? If he killed them to hide something it wouldn't make any sense since he'd have killed them before they talked to the police but he killed them two days later.

Yoo Na felt like she had lost her mind, these theories were making her head hurt since they made absolutely no sense even when it seemed to be linked but the murders were in different ways but still she thought he might have killed them differently to avoid suspicion that he killed them, so it seemed like the perfect way to divert the suspicion from the anonymous gift killer to be responsible for their deaths to a casual murderer and moreover, there was no evidence to back it up that the anonymous killer had killed them and the fact that Bae Ra's mom didn't really have any important clues to tell the police about when they had questioned her made it quite perfect for him to kill them without any arousing suspicion. She had seen the anonymous gift killer on the news and his killings were quite vicious which made her think of the viciousness of Bae Ra's and her mom's death that made it look like a grudge, but if her theory were true, why then did he kill her? Was it for fun or was he just a sick psycho?
