The Nanny System

The world had undergone a huge upheaval. Spatial Rifts leading to another world. Dungeon Rifts leading to dangerous places had appeared all over the world. Humans awakened and gained supernatural abilities. Michael was just an ordinary person aspiring to become an awakened human, but unfortunately, his life just seems to lead him to live an ordinary person's life. Until one day, he met a cute little furry creature that granted him a system and turned his life around! "Brush Hao's fur for ten minutes" "Walk Hao for an hour" "Give Hao a bath" "Goddammit, should I actually open a Day Care for pets instead?" The cover photo is not mine.

What the heck?

On the other hand,

Our inconceivable specimen had brought Hao on top of their Town's Bell Tower, where it gives anyone who comes up here a bird's eye view of the entire town, except for those living in the countryside.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" said Michael as he just enjoyed the view from up there along with the refreshing breeze that's blowing to his body..

"Hao~!" answered Hao with a bright expression along with a raised paw.

Two minutes later of enjoying the view around them, Michael looked at Hao in his arms and said, "Let's get going then. We've been here for a while. We need to buy some fruits too on the way back and maybe buy chicken meat too, to cook your favorite Chicken Adobo!"

"Haoong~!!"

Hearing the words Chicken Adobo, Hao couldn't help but drool in anticipation just thinking about the meal for lunch!

"Hao~! Haoong~!" said Hao while softly pressing her paws on Michael's hands with a tone of impatience.

"Alright, alright. I'm already hurrying up!" said Michael with a helpless laugh as he went down stairs as quickly and carefully as possible.

And when the two arrived at the foot of the Bell Tower, he quickly noticed the crowd of people a little distance away from them, then Michael glanced at Hao, then at the people again who had already noticed the two of them and also looking over their direction while holding their phones and cameras tight, ready to take a photo!

"Dammit, I need to walk past them to reach my truck" mumbled Michael, a little annoyed that a group of bloggers and reporters started bothering them ever since they spotted Hao when they arrived at this location earlier.

In the end, Michael just sighed in resignation as circling around the church is pretty much useless as they would just come over when they see him arrive at the other side. So he might just go through with it.

So with his butt clenched hard, he started walking towards his truck with the excited Hao in his arms.

"They're coming, they're coming. Behave, don't go over and just calmly take a photo of that cute cat when they walk past us" said a middle aged man with a pair of glasses towards his colleagues and fellow competitors from blogs and other news agencies.

"Got it"

"We already know. Geez, stop talking like you're our leader when we're from different agencies"

Some nodded in agreement, while some just snorted.

"Gulp!

Michael gulped down his saliva when he's finally just a couple of meters away from them, and he quickly showed his best smile while looking ahead of him as he continued walking forward while ignoring the people at the side, like they don't even exist!

Click!

Kachak! Kachak!

Only the sound of the camera shutter and the sound of shuffling footsteps echoed throughout the quiet surrounding.

Some of them clicked their tongues when they saw Michael's disgustingly rigid smile and instead zoomed in on Hao as they decided right there and then to never include Michael in the shot!

What a poor bloke!

While on the other hand, Hao is once again enjoying the photoshoot she's getting as she showed bright expressions towards the camera, and it doesn't even surprise Michael anymore that Hao sometimes acts like any other human being.

"Hao~!"

"Haoong~!"

Kachak! Kachak! Kachak!

Every time Hao let out a sound, the sound of camera shutters became lively, and it started to annoy Michael's ears, especially when he noticed those annoying gentle looks on their faces when they looked at Hao, and mostly because he had already long noticed that they weren't even taking a photo of him!

'Ungrateful bastards! No photos of Hao to all of you next time!'

"Hmmp!"

With a cold snort, Michael quickened his pace and arrived at his truck and got inside and drove away, leaving those unsatisfied bastards behind!

When the duo finally left, the group became boisterous as the chatter from before resumed.

"Goddammit! I only got one good shot!"

"I got two, osu!"

"Hehehe, I'll make one of them as my wallpaper in my phone"

"Weak, I'll make one of the photos into a poster and paste it on the wall of my room so I can look at her cuteness everyday!"

"Good idea! I'll treat it as a talisman to repel bad vibes away!"

On the other hand, someone might wonder why they weren't bothering Michael and Hao earlier and just calmly took photos.

The reason behind this is that superhumans have this unspoken privilege that they shouldn't be bothered by paparazzis unless they want to.

And this unspoken privilege came into effect about an incident that happened a couple of years ago, where a group of rude reporters intruded a superhuman's interpersonal space and kept doing it even when they were repeatedly warned by the said superhuman, and it's not because he doesn't like being interviewed, but because of his pet that's getting uncomfortable and jittery from getting surrounded by strangers.

So long story short, those people ignored his stern warnings and got attacked by the said pet, that's a dual horned rabbit and zapped them with its lightning!

Luckily no one died that day, and those people only went into a coma for two to three months.

Which just shows how incredibly lucky they were!

And that incident gave a stern warning to these people to not ignore them while they are being nice.

So from then on, no one would bother or even strike a conversation with them unless they allowed them to.

While we are on this matter, people have slowly learned to be able to distinguish superhumans from normal people just from looking if they are accompanied by monsters or their elemental spirits, which ordinary people don't have.

"Do you guys recognize that person though? Caused I've never seen him before" a young woman suddenly asked a question that quickly got all of their attention.

A man around mid forties thought for a bit and replied, "Maybe he's new"

"Or maybe he's just from the neighboring towns or cities?"

"Impossible, we would have still heard of him if he had a pet companion that cute~!"

"Ohh right~ you have a valid point. Marcus, what do you think?" said a person who called out to the man earlier who acted like he was their "acting leader "earlier.

Marcus, the middle aged wearing a pair of glasses and while looking at the photos in his camera said, "New or not. We can go to the Terran Association and ask for who he is, and maybe get his contact number and ask him for an interview"

"Did you forget that their information is classified?" said a young woman after a little hesitation.

"It's fine. It's not like we're really getting his number or something. It's just an excuse for us to use to get a request to interview him" answered Marcus with a laugh.

"And even if their information gets leaked, would those superhumans even care about it? Only a dumbass would attack a superhuman"

When they heard what one of their colleagues said, all of them couldn't help but laugh as they made their way towards the Terran Association on their feet.

But what these people didn't know, is that dumbass is already lying unconscious on Michael's feet.

"What the heck?!"

Thank you everyone that are enjoying the story and voted so far with their stones.

Just reminder before I forget, the story will be a little slow paced because the story will be a semi slice of life. So if you're not fond of slow paced slife of life stories, then...
