Chapter 2

Rue POV

During work, I heard that one of our mechanics was missing. She is a vampire named Bernia, we weren't close, but I hoped she was okay. Our boss Mazaelynn is a hot-tempered dwarf who is verbally abusive. If she doesn't like you, she will fire you. I am a good employee, but I have been fired by Mazaelynn fifteen times. I am not arrogant, I am confident in my abilities as a mechanic. I am either early or on time for work, I do a great job with the cars, and I try to be nice to the customers. I can do the work of five people, and I have done it many times. Dealing with customers isn't easy, and you need a lot of patience. Yet, the mean girl who is a terrible employee never gets fired. You don't need a college degree, but it will surely help. Even if you didn't go to college, you still require your ASE certification. I, however, have an Associates degree, my ASE, my AWS, and my EPA. I have worked at this job since I was 16, so I have hands-on experience. Today, I had to deal with impatient people who think they know more than the professional, the clueless customers, and I have been propositioned by unmated males.

After the end of our shifts, we gathered around to pray for Bernia's safe return. She was a private person, but a decent person and employee. Bernia had been missing for three days before her husband reported her missing. How the hell did he just find out that his wife was missing? I wouldn't be surprised that he is cheating. Having an ungrateful bad match like him is very rare.

When you find your true love, it is your job to make the relationship work. The bond just tells you who you are compatible with emotionally and physically. The misconception is that the bond makes you fall in love with your true love. Some people have the nerve to be choosing beggars. If you are a broke himbo that wants a supermodel, but get a plus-sized cutie. If you hate vampires, but get a vampire. Other people find out that the person they want isn't who they thought they were, and come crawling back. People don't realize that you get that certain person for a reason. You and your partner are supposed to help each other heal and grow. Relationships are supposed to be symbiotic. Ungrateful bad matches want a trophy, but get surprised that they are just a trophy. I hope my guy accepts me for who I am and what I am. I am half-werewolf, a tomboy, half-black and half-American Indian, and a female mechanic; I don't have a lot of open-minded and progressive men lined up.

I want to keep working, I don't want to be a housewife. I have no problems with housewives, but they leave themselves vulnerable. I worked my ass off to prove myself to be a competent mechanic. I worked my ass off in a male-dominated industry where men would laugh at me and look at me like I didn't belong. I paid for my accelerated degree and certifications by myself. It took me 21 months to earn my degree. I don't need a man to take care of me nor provide for me. I am not rich, but I make decent money. I can do home repairs by myself, I bought my own car, I can box, I love beer, I am very outdoorsy, and I can speak Spanish, French, and Japanese fluently.

It is not like I haven't tried to date. I have had guys try to get me to work on their cars for free, which made me laugh at their faces. Those guys would either look pissed or curse me out. Guys that didn't want a free auto repair, thought of me as the home girl they could play softball with.

I am going to start my own mobile mechanic business, and I already have the business license and certifications. I bought my own cargo van, and sold my old used car for $750. Likewise, I bought my own tools over the six years I have been a mechanic. Luckily for me, our supermarket is ridiculously affordable, and sells everything. I have been paid weekly for six years, without a raise. Now, I want to make some new changes to my current employment. I want to work for myself, and not get verbally abused and fired constantly.

I found a new home, it is a mobile home located in Big Heights; a mobile home community that is two miles from my family's home. My family knew and made sure I didn't get conned. I am so happy that I bought my own home all by myself. It cost me $159,000 to buy the three bedroom and 2 bathrooms mobile home. I know I don't need three bedrooms, but I have some uses for the other rooms.

Granddad had some money saved up and favors from some former clients to help clean and decorate my new home. Dad made sure that the area was safe for me to live in. Mom insisted that I accept $100,000 from her after wearing me down. My family likes to scrimp and save, and my mom wants to make sure her children will at least be comfortable when they move out. Grandma knows a good guy who sells amazing furniture for cheap. Leslie will help me grocery shop and will spread the word about my new business at the hair salons. JJ helped me get the insurances I required. The interior style of my new home will be eclectic. I just have to wait a couple of weeks or get fired again. My second bedroom will be my home office. My third bedroom will be a guest bedroom. Mom put protective spells and charms on the house after I bought it. They will keep people who have bad intentions out of my home. My business will be called Rue's Mobile Auto Clinic.
