This time, Gendis was not lying down like yesterday. She sat across from Ni Gundhari with a worried look on her face. After last night, she felt like her body was floating, and now there was no telling what else she might have to endure.
In front of them was the usual black charcoal with small coals. Sparks could be seen as Ni Gundhari placed something on it.
"What is all this for, Ni?" asked Gendis in a trembling voice.
Ni Gundhari smiled gently at Gendis, trying to ease the tension she felt. She reached for a glass filled with a brownish liquid. Smoke billowed over it, but it was warm enough for Gendis to drink.
