I just wanted to give a head's up either way. LGBTQ+ representation is also in this novel. :)] This is book one of the Ylphasia series. War, betrayal, loss, growth - none of these things were aspects of life that Myranda had in mind when she finally met her destined mate. The only problem was that her chosen was someone she absolutely despised - Prince Metas, the next rightful King to the Lycan Kingdom. From the bottom rungs of society, everything above her seemed like a dream - it was too bad her preconceived notions were far from wrong. In their journey to make a brighter future for their entire kingdom, Metas and Myranda learn that there is so much more to just being mates than their shared love. As they navigate the complications of starting a revolution, both Metas and Myranda discover just how compatible they actually are - and how much their paring means for the future of their kind. ----------------------------------------------------- [EXCERPT] "If you want my place so much, you should challenge me when the time comes. This is cowardice. You think I can beat you-no...You know I can beat you, and so you're trying to hurt Myranda to make me weaker. You're a bastard, a cheat and a liar, and you don't deserve to rule over our kingdom - and you never will. You have no valor, no honor - and no moral compass," Metas spat towards him, and kept his hair up on end involuntarily. "I'm drunk right now and easily pushed you over like a small paper bag filled with shit. Since you've so brilliantly shown what you'd truly like to do, I'll make sure she is safe from you. Meanwhile, perhaps you should train or learn better tactics from your papa," Metas continued, and even grinned with delight. "Even if you beat me in combat, the rest of those in power want to see you fall. You won't last," Silas warned, and reformed into his mortal self. "...but I do intend on challenging you. Unless you want to kill me right here and now since you're so confident." "There is no honor in killing you without the glory of showing you exactly what I am capable of in front of everyone. I will take Joss' advice and do nothing for now. I don't want to throw away honor for revenge. If you come near her again, I will kill you before you ever get the chance to prance around in front of high society with a little speech, and show off to your wife and no friends. Understand?" Metas asked menacingly, and now his gums were visible as saliva dripped from his lips and teeth, barely holding himself back. "I will drink your blood through your eye sockets if you lay one more fucking claw on her - understood?" Metas warned as he advanced towards the blonde male. "You letting me live will be the biggest regret of your life, Metas. Hold those words close to your heart when you lose everything to me," Silas sneered and turned away, but not before he locked eyes with Joss with a dare in his green orbs.

Tomorrow Comes Today

It was a beautiful day. The sun was setting behind the mountains, and summer had come. The weather was a perfect warmth, and the air was sweet and calm.

Myranda felt at peace as her eyes scanned the rolling pink and purple clouds above, and the soft wind whisked at her long, flowing hair - and for once; she felt beautiful.

"I told you I was right," came a familiar warm voice from behind her.

Confused, the young female turned around to see an ethereal form of her sister. Syrana looked more beautiful than ever, and she was wearing the wedding dress she had worn when she married Silas.

"Why..are you wearing that?" Myranda couldn't help but ask.

"Oh, I'm sorry - did that seem more odd than your big sister showing up to talk to you?" Syrana returned and approached her younger sibling so that she could hug her tightly.

"I mean...after what Silas did..." Myranda started.

"Stop. It's complicated, Myri. I'm not angry at Silas. I'm angry at Harbinger. He used all of us for his personal gain. He knew exactly what strings to pull and the resources to use to make his plans work. He just didn't account for the three of us siblings to stop his plans," Syrana said proudly and parted from her sister so she could stroke her face with affection.

"Silas didn't poison me. Harbinger did. He was going to kill Syri too, but Lara figured it out and helped me get her safe. Please tell her I said thank you...and...tell Veltar to find love with Jess. They both deserve it - and as much as I want our romance to have been a whirlwind and a fairy tale, it wasn't. I have better days ahead, Myri. You do, too," she went on gently and looked down to the mismatched eyes she loved so much.

"Rana..." Myranda began with a quivered lips that she could not control.

"Hush, hush. There is someone waiting for me. I was just waiting for you. You not only touched magic - you became it briefly, and now you are one with me, and all of us who live, have lived, and will live again."

"Is there such a thing as promised sisters? Like mates?" Myranda couldn't help but ask. She didn't want this to be the last time she spoke to her best friend and second eldest sibling.

"I don't know that answer, sweetie. I hope so. You were the best little sister anyone could have asked for, and I would certainly want to be siblings again. You, me, and Jyriah. We'll all meet up again, I just know it."

"Syrana, I love you and thank you so much for taking care of me. I promise to take care of Syri and Jyriah."

"I believe you. You're going to take care of the whole colony now. As long as you don't give up, you're going to be fine." Syranna said and put her hands on Myranda's shoulders.

"Now. Wake up. Up, up, up." She continued and started to shake her sister.

"No, no no - please... wait - I have so much more to say!"

"I love you always, Myri." Syrana replied with finality and pushed her sister so hard that it would knock her down on her back, which instantly woke her up.

"Rana!" Myranda shouted as Metas' fingers sunk into her flesh as he shook her.

"Mandy, they're trying to get in. We need to go help the innocent to safety," Metas spoke with an urge in his tone.

Still groggy she shook her head and looked around with a deep confusion. "What about training?"

"We're going to learn by fire," he answered easily, but she could feel his fear and anxiety.

"Come on - I have a plan," he followed up and waited for her to get up onto her paws before he went dashing out the entrance to their hovel.

The scene they ran into was chaotic - there were wolves in their fur, and in their skins running about. They seemed to be either searching for something or someone, or they were trying to get to the back tunnel to the emergency room.

"Stick to the drills, everyone! Help anyone who falls - save any child who is left behind. We can reunite later if we work as one!" Metas commanded with a stern voice that halted almost everyone for a moment. Those who listened, took his advice and started to urge everyone towards the intended emergency exit. Those who had not, were soon swayed into doing so the more they saw everyone around them doing the same action.

Once the frenzy died down into a manageable flow, both the Alpha and Luna made their way to the designated meeting place where they had held all of their private affairs with the trusted inner circle.

They found that they had already been waiting for the two of them to arrive - even Vincent, who was banged up pretty badly, and was leaning on Cassandra for support.

"What should we do, Metas?" Jyriah asked first - but not with fear - it was a sincere, and serious tone he rarely ever had.

"Get everyone to the back. Everyone." Metas replied, and repeated the second part of his sentence with emphasis as he turned his gaze to Lara.

"What? Are you kidding me? I'm not leaving you. Those bastards are right outside the boulder hatches. We need each other now more than ever," Lara argued.

"Lara, I need you to leave with Ajax. First of all, you're pregnant. Secondly, if Myranda and I die, you and Ajax will need to be the next Alpha and Luna. You will need to lead our kind to a brighter future." Metas answered sternly.

"--and no one is dying anyway," Jyriah added fiercely.

"Metas..." Ajax started to object, but was cut off.

"He's right. Stop arguing with your king, and do as he commands," Vincent growled from Cassandra's side, who looked down to his hunched form with pity. His wounds had barely started to heal with the troops came pounding on their safe-wall.

"I have a plan. It's the only plan. You go, support the civilians. Mandy and I will face the General alone. He doesn't know what we can do, and that we are aware of everything. We're going to hide in the fire," Metas announced, and then turned to Myranda who smiled at the last of his words and nodded strongly.

"What?" Ajax asked flatly.

"Don't worry about it - do as we say. He's right. Now get out and cover your tracks. You can do this - and so can we." Myranda replied valorously.

There wasn't much more of a fight to be had, because there just wasn't time. Even Jyriah acknowledged there was no time for a true, real goodbye, and so he looked to his baby sister with eyes filled with respect and love, and gave her a deep nod.

As the group parted ways, Metas and Myranda both went towards the cracking wall of stone that was spurting out pebbles and dust from its breaking face the more abuse it took.

The noises of the others fleeing began to die out and fade off the further their friends, family, and citizens went away from them. They sat proudly side by side, and only looked back once to make sure that the tunnel behind them had been closed to ensure their safety.

One more final burst from something metallic burst the damaged stone to rubble and upon seeing the soldiers, neither the Alpha or Luna moved.

"All of this work for you two to just be sitting here? You couldn't have met us like warriors?" A male with a Captain's metal around his neck asked mockingly.

"No, we just wanted you to have to work for it. That's all," Myranda answered easily. She had held back so much snark and needed it to flow freely before she wasn't able to anymore.

"Are you going to make us fight you as well, or will you at least come out here willingly? I'm fine with either, but I advise you to make your last moments as peaceful as possible. Alpha Harbinger is waiting just outside your little hide-away to execute you both." The Captain sighed a little as though he were being put out.

"Honestly, I'm tired from all that work - so if you want to fight, I'll just slit your tendons and drag you," he followed up coldly.

"We will walk. You won, Ilengal. Take us to your alpha." Metas said darkly.

Myranda lowered her ears back and started a growl, but once her husband gave her a look, she swore she could hear him say, 'don't argue - walk with pride'.

So she did.
