Chapter 1

I am a millionaire's daughter. I live in a huge house with lots of people cleaning, and runny around the house trying to keep everything in order. I don't mind them, it's just my father and mother never have time for me anymore they are always too busy doing their work whatever that is. I usually just sit in my room and do absolutely nothing. I guess I am okay with this life but it does get really lonely even though I have many people running around the house.

"Sigh."

I climbed out of bed and walked over to the window. The sun is shining and the birds are singing. I opened the window and took a deep breath of fresh air.

"Growl."

I grabbed a hold of my stomach. I am starving. Walking into the kitchen I see no one. Where did everyone go? I shrugged it off and grabbed myself a bowl of cereal. That really hit the spot. I have a whole day to plan what I am going to do? I ran up to my room grabbing a backpack, notebook and pencil. I am ready to go on an adventure. I walked to the front door to be stopped by one of the butlers.

"Excuse me, I want to go outside."

"I am sorry young miss I can't allow that I have orders to not let you go outside."

"Why can't I go outside?" "It's such a beautiful day outside."

I wonder what's going on? I have never been able to go outside.

"I am sorry young miss you are to stay inside now be a good girl and go back to your room."

Well this stinks. I had a whole day planned of fun things to do outside. I stormed into my parents office.

"Why can't I go outside?"

"Oh honey what are you doing in here?" "You know your father and I are very busy so why don't you go have some fun."

"What kind of fun?" "I can't even go outside."

"We don't have time for this, leave us alone, we are both very busy."

"Your mother is right, please let us work."

I slammed the door behind me running to my room. I locked the door behind me. I have to go outside. Otherwise my whole day is going to be horrible looking around my bedroom for any way of escaping. Then it hit me. I grabbed a lot of bed sheets and tied them all together. I slowly climbed down and when I got to the ground I ran for it so I wouldn't be caught. I smiled knowing I get to be outside in the wide open space. I wonder why my parents never let me go outside? I still wonder why that is? I followed a trail that went through the woods. It's very quiet in the woods. I thought there would be animals making noises and other stuff. I shrugged the feeling off and continued walking.

"Who are you?"

I turned quickly to look behind me but there was no one around.

"That was weird."

I started to walk again.

"You shouldn't be here."

"Who's there?" "Show yourself."

"I would but I don't want to scare you."

"You are already scaring me, please just show yourself."

I watched as she appeared right in front of me. It has no legs and I can see right through her.

"You're a spirit?" "That is so cool I have never seen a spirit before." "My name is Bella I am five years old."

"You're not scared that I am a spirit?"

"Not at all I finally have someone I can hangout with."

"My name is Grace and I am five years old."

"It's nice to meet you Grace." "I am on an adventure today." "Do you want to join me?"

"Really?" "I would love to I have never been on an adventure before."

We walked side by side through the woods. We didn't talk much because we don't know what to talk about. I have never met someone my age before so it's hard for me to find things to talk about.

"What's it like to live in that mansion?"

"It's not fun at all." "My parents are always working and there is no one to play with because I have to be quiet." "If you can't tell, my family has a lot of money." "If it's okay can I ask you what happened to you?"

"Yes I don't mind, I am not actually dead, there is a hospital a mile from here and I am in a coma." "I do visit my body but I hate seeing my parents sad so I come here and hang out in the woods."

"Would it be okay if I visit you in the hospital?" "I would love to meet your parents."

"Well I would love you to meet my parents but I don't know how well that would go."

"I will be good." "Please?"

"Fine, we can go follow me."

We ran to the hospital and into her room.

"You are very beautiful."

"Thank you." "I do miss hugging my parents." "I miss a lot of things but I guess that's what happens when you are in a coma." "Sigh." "My parents should be in here any minute."

I sat down by her body.

"So what happened to you anyway?" "Why are you in a coma?"

"You see I was playing with my dog but she got loose from my grip and ran into the street." "I saw a vehicle coming for her so I pushed her out of the way and ended up here."

"I am sorry you had to go through that it must have hurt a lot."

"Excuse me little girl, who are you talking to?"

I turned to see Grace's parents.

"Hi my name is Bella and I was talking to Grace." "I am her best friend."

"Best friend?" "I didn't know Grace had any friends."

"Bella I am sorry I forgot to tell you I was an only child and I had no friends whatsoever so they are going to be stunned for a little bite."

"That's okay, I understand Grace." "I am happy that I get to be your friend."

"Bella, who are you talking to?" "There is no one there."

"Grace your daughter is right there in spirit form she is still alive."

"Bella honey she has been in a coma for three months now." "There is still no sign of her recovering anytime soon." "You really look like Grace a lot."

"But I have been talking to Grace all morning." "She has been by my side to show me where she was sleeping." "She even told me what happened to her." "She said that she pushed her dog out of the way so that the dog wouldn't be killed."

They looked at me with tears in their eyes. I turned to Grace.

"I am sorry Grace, I didn't mean to make your parents cry."

"It's okay they needed to know what happened to me." "Thank you for telling them."

"I can't wait until you wake up." "We will play together everyday."

"I don't know if I will ever wake up."

"What do you mean you might not wake up?" "You have to, your my new best friend, no, your only and first best friend." "You can't say things like that." "We just met today."

"Wait, did you just say you met today?"

I looked back to Grace's parents.

"Yes she scared me in the woods by my house but when I saw her I knew I wanted us to be friends so I asked her to lead me here to see you both."

I walked over to her and gave her a hug.

"What's happening to me?"

I turn to see Grace disappearing.

"Where are you going?" "Please don't leave."

She finally disappeared all the way without another word. I felt tears running down my face. I laid my head down on her body. Why did she have to leave? We were going to be best friends.

"Cough."

I jumped and looked at Grace's body. She was awake and I crawled into bed right by her side.

"How are you feeling?"

I looked to see my parents and Bella by my side. I moved my arms and looked at my hands to see I was back in my body.

"We have to find a doctor."

My parents left the room and I looked at Bella.

"I am so glad that you are back in your body."

I watched as the doctor ran in the room.

"Welcome back Grace, I am here to take that breathing tube out of your mouth."

I watched as the doctor walked over to me. I held Bella's hand as he took the tube out.

"You will need to drink plenty of water because your throat is going to feel really sore."

He handed me water and walked over to my parents.

"When you get better we have so much we can do together." "We can have sleepovers." "I am so glad that we met in the woods behind my house."

I hugged her. I sat by her side all day talking about what we would do and planning things to play.

"Bella sweetie where do you live?" "Won't your parents be looking for you?"

I looked at Grace's mother.

"Well I don't live far from here and right now they are busy so they won't know I am gone until they get done whenever that is."

"How do you plan on getting home?"

"My parents will find me but until then can I please stay here with Grace?"

"Of course you can."

I love Bella. She is so amazing. We have so much in common and another cool thing is that we look identical no one can tell us apart.

"Bella what the hell are you doing here!?"

I was startled by my parents.

"I wanted to visit my friend."

"Gasp." "You both look so much alike." "You are coming home right now." "Your father and I have been looking for you for hours and this is where you were the whole time?" "Why would you sneak out like that?" "We told you that you were not allowed to go outside without us."

"Please calm down, she is safe and you are also causing a scene."

"Do you know who I am?" "My husband and I are the owners of the hospital." "We are millionaires."

"What?"

"Now if you don't mind I will be taking my daughter with me."

"Mother, I want to stay here with my new friend."

"No you can't." "I still can't believe you wouldn't listen to us."

"It's because I never get to go outside because you and father are always so busy."

She grabbed my hand and took me to the car. Tears rolled down my face. When I got home I ran to my room to see the window with bars. I feel like a prisoner. I lay on my bed crying myself to sleep.
