Early lunch and expectations

Aizawa had instructed them to have lunch early for the Quirk Evaluation test. He had been called to the Principal's office for a brief meeting and left them with that instruction. As class 1A gathered in the cafeteria hall, Sakura loitered near the door. So far, no one had talked to her. They passed her like she was invisible. 'I'm lonely,' she thought as she trudged towards the vending machine. What do you take me for? Kurama said inside her head. "Shut up you stupid fox," she muttered as she stood in front of the machine. The purple-haired midget was standing there as well. He stared at her fearfully as she arrived. She gave him one of her 'beast' grins. He gulped audibly, taking his soda can and walking to his table shakily. She scoffed as he walked away. 'Weakling,' she thought. She took a coin out of her pocket, staring at it intently and then at the prices on the machine. It was the only coin she had. The only thing she could buy right now was a bottle of water.

She inserted the coin in the slot then proceedes to type in the number of her water. She was still getting used to technology. The machine hummed for a few seconds, the water bottle was pushed forward and dropped. She leaned downwards to check for the water bottle but her big head didn't allow her to do so. She muttered colourful words under her breath. She kneeled down beside the machine to check for the water bottle but it wasn't there. 'Did it get stuck?' she asked herself. Nezu said that if it didn't come out then it was stuck and you have to kick it for it to come out, Kurama supplied as he let the memory resurface in her mind. She stood up. Be careful not to kick too much otherwise- 'Shut up,' she cut him. She raised her foot and gingerly kicked the machine. There was no change. She kicked thrice. There was no change. 'Damn it, work already!' she shouted in her mind as she kicked it harshly. The machine rattled and fell down with a loud crush. A defeaning silence dawned in the entire cafeteria, even more silencing with the fact that only class 1A was present. She turned to face her classmates who were looking at her weirdly, muttering among themselves. That is what I was trying to tell you, their reactions, Kurama spoke. 'Gee, thanks for the warning,' she replied sarcastically as she turned to face the vending machine. The water bottle had come out.

After collecting her food tray from the lunch lady, she pondered on where to sit. 'Maybe I could go to Endeavour's son. We talked yesterday,' she thought as she began walking to his lone figure robotically. That doesn't make you friends. He has a reputation for being like his father, the fox said. 'I don't remember asking for your opinion,' she snapped. The fox grumbled and retreated to the back of her mind. She arrived at his table, opening her mouth to greet him but the cold look in his eyes stopped her as he stared at her. She could almost feel the frost coming from him. She turned around, her fox ears twitching as her face burned with embarrassment. She heard Kurama snickering in her mind.

She went to the next lone figure sitting on a table away from the class, just like Shoto. He had blonde hair with curled upwards at the back and sparkling blue eyes with his lips in a permanent smile. He had an air of elegance about him. "Hey," she greeted. "Bonjour madamemosuille," he said as he winked. "Good," she said, relaxing a little as she sensed no hostility from him. "I'm Sakura Haruno. Nice to meet you," she said as she stretched her hand out, putting on her best smile. "The elegant and magnificent Yuuga Aoyama, at your service," he said with a twinkling smile. She smiled wider in return. "Though I would tell you to make your smile less sinister," he added, still smiling. "Is it really that bad?" she whispered. "Hmmmm, it's like..."

The girls of class 1A stared at Yuuga who was conversing with the new student. They were getting along quite well. "I feel guilty that we didn't give her proper welcome. She probably thinks we don't like her," Ochaco said as she played with her chopsticks. "We don't even know her name!" Toru exclaimed. "Aizawa said she's Haruno, either it's her name or surname," Jirou said. "I'm going to ask her," Mina said in determination. "Be sure not to scare her while you are at it," the Earphone Jack said. "Don't you mean the other way round, ribbit?" Tsuyu said.

After they ate lunch, Yuuga had excused himself to go to the restroom. Just as soon as he had left the lunchroom, she remembered that she had forgotten to ask for directions to the ladies' room. 'Guess I have to find it myself,' she thought as she walked out. "She's leaving the cafeteria hall. There's your chance," Toru said to Mina. "Wish me luck girls," the pink girl said. She followed behind Haruno, who seemed to be going in no particular direction. 'Could she be looking for the restroom?' she asked herself. Walking quickly to her, she tapped her shoulder. "Hey, if you're looking for-" "I don't need you to tell me where to go. Leave me alone," Haruno said as she continued walking. Mina was left dumb-founded as she stared at the retreating fox. "Well, excuse you for being rude!" she shouted after her. She huffed and walked back to her friends.

You do know what you just insulted your classmate, the Kyuubi said as she walked down the hallway. 'If you hadn't been blabbering your stupid mouth trying to give me directions in the first place then I wouldn't have done that,' she replied angrily. And if I hadn't been sealed inside of you, you would be living a normal life, peacefully, the fox recited the sentence she always told him every day. 'Exactly,' she retorted. Even if you're angry at me, it doesn't change that I'm inside you. Help yourself by getting friends, not being bitter all the time. You are the one who caused this transformation upon yourself, not me, he spoke. 'Don't tell me what to do!' she shouted. If only you would listen, he said as he retreated.

"Good afternoon students. I trust all of you had your lunch. The reason why I had you eat early was because all of you are going to spar against Haruno. That will be the second part of her Quirk Evaluation test," Aizawa said. The whole class murmured amongst themselves. "I don't mean to be rude but can she take the whole class all by herself?" Momo asked. "You won't be fighting against her at the same time. Still, Haruno, are you up to the challenge?" the erasing hero said as he looked at Sakura. "I can take it sensei," she replied, her green eyes set in determination. He nodded. "Okay. Everyone to the sidelines," he instructed them. The whole class went to the sidelines. "Did you notice how her eyes change color? Alternating between red or green," Izuku said as he walked. "Maybe it has something to do with her quirk, we still don't it yet," Eijirou spoke. "Highly unlikely. It's her mood which causes that," Fumikage piped in. "And how do you know that?" Denki asked. "I'm half-human, half-animal. I just know," he muttered.

"First is the softball throwing test," he handed her the softball. "It's heavy," she said as she threw it up and down in her hand. "That's the point," he said. "Throw it," he instructed. She placed the softball amidst her tails, the tails getting a nice grip on the ball. "Here we go!" she shouted as the tails threw the ball forward.

"Softball score: 15.4 metes," Aizawa said. "What?!" the whole class exclaimed. "I expected her to go farther than that," Izuku said as he watched the two-meter long tails sway vigorously behind her. The other students were muttering among themselves. Aizawa sent them a glare. They immediately shut up.

By the time the first part was over, Sakura was breathing heavily. She was so winded! 'I've been out of practice for too long,' she thought as she struggled to regain her breath. Too, too long, Kurama piped in. 'Shut up.' "I'm giving you a ten-minute break to rest. We'll be starting the second part of your Quirk Evaluation test," Aizawa said, pulling out his sleeping bag from thin air.
