Existential Crisis

"Wait! What if we use spare parts? Some of that junk should still work right?"

"Scanning... Compatible components have been detected. Do you wish to use them to repair unit 2?"

"YES!"

"Warning! Some of the requested equipment is stored inside the group's bank. Do you wish to withdraw it?"

"Group bank? What's that?"

"The group bank has been established by the previous Captain in order to let the crew obtain loot by exchanging contribution points or credits."

Previous Captain? Crew? Are there other people on this ship? Isn't this my personal ship?

"Are there other people on this ship?"

"Negative."

...

"What happened to the crew and previous Captain?"

''Out of 27 total people, 26 are deceased."

...

"Who is the last person alive?"

"That is you Captain."

...

<I don't like this at all. Why am I the only survivor? This is too suspicious.>

"Wait! Is that why I am the Captain?"

"Affirmative"

<Huh... Well that sucks...This dream got depressing all of a sudden. Is this even a dream? I don't think I would have such a realistic dream though, especially now that I am aware of it.>

<So...should I continue treating this as a dream and potentially die in a stupid way or should I treat it as my new reality and take it seriously?>

<I am awfully calm considering the situation. Is it because of the adrenaline or what?>

<Is this what I wanted? The freedom to potentially die alone in space?>

...

<The Mech is awesome tho.>

<Oh well I don't have to think so hard about it. If I die so be it, death is not so scary the second time.>

<Welp, I declare this existential crisis over. Now where was I? Ah right! The bank!>

"Arfa! I want to withdraw all the assets currently in the group's bank!"

"Affirmative. Do you wish to transfer the currency to you personal account?"

"YES! How much money do I have now?"

"Currently there are 350427 credits in your account."

<Still not enough to repair the ship but this is much better than before.>

<Uhh... I'm suddenly very tired. I guess I was high on adrenaline a lot recently.>

"Do you wish to return to your private quarters?"

"Sure...can you guide me there please?"

"Affirmative. The route has been sent to you PDA."

Taking the device out of his pocket Darx could see something similar to a minimap displayed on it. He could even zoom in and out to see the whole ship.

"Huh? Why isn't the route the shortest one?"

"Due to damage some sections of the ship are currently sealed while the elevators are unavailable."

<I guess that makes sense. I should go before I end up taking a nap on the ground.>

After he climbed down the stairs Darx could finally see the whole Mech.

It was vaguely humanoid but its chest was very big compared to the rest of its body and its had no neck, it's head being half buried into the chest. As for the colors it was mostly black with dark purple lines here and there. If not for the damage it would look even cooler or at least if it had all its limbs.

By the time Darx got to the hangar doors he started feeling dizzy and his body started to hurt all over.

"Warning! Abnormal life signals detected. I advise you visit the medbay as soon as possible."

"If I die after all this I am gonna be very angry...Set a new route for the medbay please."

"Affirmative."

After walking through what seemed like endless white corridors, Darx finally reached his destination. The medbay was a pretty small room with only 2 beds, a desk with a chair and 2 shelves, unfortunately like the rest of the ship, it hadn't escaped from the fate of being thrashed. Everything not nailed to the ground was scattered around the room, including all the medicine and tools, some which were broken.

"What am I supposed to look for?"

"Medicine for headaches, dizziness and other head related ailments is called ibuprofen. A photo of the product has been sent to your PDA."

After a bit of searching through the piles on the ground he found the right pills he tried to swallow one dry... but he failed miserably and choked almost dying so he opted to taking one with some cough syrup.

After lying in one of the beds for a bit he started feeling better so he decided to try and get to his personal quarters again.

On the way he suddenly remembered something.

"Hey, Arfa. Can the ship move?"

"Currently the ship is unable to move, it will take 6 additional hours before the emergency repairs are finished."

"I see..."

<Well at least I wont get stuck here forever. I should try to get to that Pensha VI station and repair the ship and get some more information...also find a way to make money. Actually can I even pilot this thing?>

"Arfa. Can you pilot the ship?"

"Affirmative."

<Phew...>

"Set a course for Pensha VI Station."

<Heh, always wanted to say that too.>

"Affirmative. I will plot a course for Pensha VI Station as soon as the emergency repairs are finished. Due to damage to the hull we will only be able to move with sub-light speed without compromising hull integrity. Estimated travel time 25 hours."

The private quarters were actually located on the top floor right next to the Command Center.

Entering inside the room he saw a large bed, a wardrobe, a nightstand and a desk. Unfortunately everything was metallic gray so that made the room kinda boring to look at.

At the back of the room there was a door leading to a bathroom complete with a toilet, sink and even a shower.

<Nice! I was not expecting this amount of luxury.>

After a bit of cleaning the room was feeling a little more welcoming.

Getting in bed Darx finally realized what kind of clothes he was wearing. They were black and tight but weirdly flexible.

It should be fine to sleep like this, it's not like I have anything else to change into.

"Wake me if something happens. Goodnight."

As soon as he said that he fell asleep.

"Affirmative...goodnight Captain..."

welp here we go again, the next chapter should be less of an info dump and more interesting, also as always I apreciate any story suggestions.
