Chapter 3: Sacred Place

The night soon passed with Lady Sleep not taking Ryan to her quarters to meet her sister. And the next day arrived!

"Ryan.. wake up! It's time for breakfast and you need to get ready to visit the 'sacred place.'! " Said a mature lady who was calling him from the room next to his.

"Yeah, Mom. I am getting ready…" Ryan replied. He was half asleep while saying this. But the next second, he became wide awake as he thinks about Mech!

He quickly gets ready and went to the dining room and saw his Mom, Dad, and Little Sister waiting for him. He went directly to his Sister and hugged her as he always did while his Sister just smiled at him warmly.

He sat on the chair and smiled at his parents and started eating. No one said anything at the time of breakfast and it was finished within 15 minutes.

"Ryan, are you ready to visit there? The bus will come within a few minutes." Said Tony(Ryan's Father).

"Yeah. I am ready." He replied excitedly and went directly outside his home waiting for the Mech bus to come. His parents and sister also followed him and waited there.

The bus came within a few minutes. Ryan hugged his parents and sister and entered the bus. After making sure that he entered, the bus automatically went away as it was a Mech and didn't need a driver like a normal bus of 'old Earth.' The only necessity was that the pilot or partner of this Mech must be near.

Inside the bus…..

Ryan quietly went to an empty seat and sat there. He was curiously looking at all the people/kids who were about his age. Some of them were on the border for 20 years but overall, most of them were 18.

No one said anything to each other during the bus journey as everyone was in their dream world thinking of which Mech they will get and so on…

After an hour, the bus stopped. Ryan curiously looked outside and saw a giant building that was looking as if made of stone and sand. But in reality, even the nuclear bombs of 'old Earth' couldn't even leave a scratch on them. It was also a mystery of its origin.

Every kid started getting off the bus and stood in front of the gate in proper order.

There were two Mechs at the gates of this place. The astonishing fact was that this Mech didn't belong to any humans. These Mechs were situated there from the time this place appeared. They normally stood like statues and would only move to punish someone if they dared to act against rules inside the 'sacred place.'

Ryan looked at these Mechs with great interest. Even though they were Mechs, they looked exactly like humans. The only distinguishing feature was the eyes. The eyes were mechanical and this told that they were Mechs and not humans. One of the guards was Male while the other was Female.

The group of kids which included Ryan silently went inside the 'sacred place' in silence and without making any problems. They knew that if these guards (Mech) found someone guilty, they can never enter this place again.

Inside the 'sacred place'.....

Every kid who was entering for the first time was fascinated by the different symbols engraved on each of the rocks present there. On the ground were numerous ruins(Array symbols). These ruins were the places the kids should sit and meditate while trying to establish a connection or link with his/her Mech.

No one wasted any time as there was only a limited time allowed to spend there. Everyone directly sat in the ruins and closed their eyes.

Ryan too closed his eyes and tried to concentrate on his Mana Core. It was said that if one concentrates deeply on Mana Core, Mech will easily respond to you. And, this was not false in Ryan's case as the next second he heard a cold, emotionless voice in his head that made him overjoyed.

[Are you the one who is trying to contact me? Tell me why must I take you as my partner.]

'Yes, I am the one who tried to contact you. As for why you can be my partner, well, I will promise on my Mom that I will take good care of you and will treat you well.' Ryan replied.

The Mech was very surprised by the boy's simple reply. Normally, one would bullshit and try to please them but, this boy was different.

[Hmmm… I like your attitude and your honesty. You didn't try to act hauntingly like others. I will start the soul contract. There will be some pain.] The cold voice said.

Ryan was happy that he got his Mech pretty easily. Just as he was going to celebrate in his mind, a headache assaulted him followed by tremendous pain all over his body. He was finding it hard to not scream while concentrating. He didn't need to go through this pain for long as within a few seconds, the pain subsidized and he felt a soothing sensation all over his body.

[The fusion is successful! Now, we are partners, and do treat me nicely. What's your name?] The Mech asked. Now, the voice wasn't cold nor emotionless. It was a voice of a girl. A soothing voice of a girl who is full of emotions.

Ryan was happy to find his Mech was female and replied.

'Hi, I am Ryan. Don't worry, I will never go back on my words and will treat you lovingly. I will also be there for you.'

[Hehehe…] Giggled the Mech

[Since we are partners, I think it's time to tell you things that aren't in the public domain. That is, things that only Mech owners will know and some other things that only a few of them know, and some things and only you must know!]

Ryan seriously nodded and asked her to continue. He was very eager to know about Mechs and how to control them.
