Fight the City Lord: Part Two

"Swish~~~!" The sound of something cutting through air rang out.

Xiao Ying slashed out with his dagger, causing the dust to split apart.

As the dust split apart, he could see a sword slashing his way.

'….!'

Using Traceless Shadows, Xiao Ying managed to dodge.

"Think you can escape with that little movement art? Think again."

"Hyaaa~~~!" The sword slashed out again, faster than before.

"Blood Sacrifice!" Xiao Ying stabbed his dagger into his stomach before pulling it out, drenching the blade in blood.

Using Traceless Shadows, he moved closer to his opponent before using Shadow of Nine Lives, successfully putting his opponent in the illusion.

"Shadow Asura Slash!" He slashed his dagger as an arc of Qi left it. The Qi was Dark Red with streaks of bright red in it.

The Blood Sacrifice technique he used allowed him to poison his dagger via his blood, and mixed it in with the Shadow Asura Slash.

The Qi slash hit its target, however, it was only a superficial wound.

"Blood poison? Nice try." His opponent recovered from the illusion.

'Fuck! Even that didn't work? I have no chance of beating him! That combo move had used up half of my stamina. I've got to escape' Xiao Ying concluded.

"Die for me, you bastard." The city lord slashed with his sword.

The sword made a wound across his chest as blood sprayed out of it.

"Agh~~~!" Xiao Ying screamed in pain.

"You like that? How about I take your eye as well?" the man swung out his sword again toward his face.

The sword slashed across his left eye, as well as his face.

"FUCK!"

"That's right, sink into despair. I want to hear more of your sweet screams." The city lord sounded sadistic.

Taking the blow, Xiao Ying moved closer to the man and slashed with his dagger at the man's throat with all of his strength.

"Clang~~~!" The dagger bounced off.

"You overestimate yourself. The only reason that you managed to cut me the first time was because of that little technique you pulled back there. But I won't let it happen again."

'I've got to go! NOW!'

Pushing Traceless Shadows as well as his body to its limits, he secured his target's head before making an escape attempt.

"Oh, no you do-" the voice was cut off as he once again used Shadow of Nine Lives.

Xiao Ying ran with all of his strength and managed to escape the manor.

Behind him, he heard a scream.

"Don't run, you bastard! How about you stay here forever?!"

Xiao Ying began darting in between people, as well as buildings.

"Lock down the city! FIND HIM!" Everyone heard the city lord's orders.

Hurriedly, he left the city, but kept running for fear of being followed. He quite literally ran until he collapsed. By this point, he'd had already left the town behind.

'I'm injured. I've got to find some place to rest.' Xiao Ying thought.

Dragging himself up, he searched his surroundings before he found a cave in the side of one of the hills beside him.

He also grabbed some sticks and other stuff to start a fire with.

He went into the cave and started a fire.

'I've got to do something about these wounds.'

'System, show me the item shop.'

One after the other, the items Xiao Ying bought in the Item Shop appeared in front of him.

Taking off his armor and gloves, Xiao Ying opened the bottle of alcohol and poured it on the wound on his chest. He was trying to clean it. After grunting due to the burn, he opened the healing paste and rubbed it over the wound before wrapping the bandages around his torso to cover up the wound.

After that, he did the same for the cut across his face. Using his perception, he cleaned the wound on his face with the alcohol, before covering it in healing paste and wrapping his head up with bandages.

Once he had taken care of his open wounds, Xiao Ying drank the stamina recovery elixir.

Back when he first unlocked the Item Shop, the system had explained the differences between tiers.

Armor, weapons, pills, elixirs, pastes, as well as other things all have tiers. Host only has access to items of tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3. Each of the tiers corresponds to the Physique Tempering Phase, Meridian Awakening Phase, and the Dantian Establishment Phase.

If host tries to use weapons or armor that does not correspond to host's cultivation phase, host will not be able to wield the item to their full extent. Similarly, for pills, if host takes a pill that doesn't correspond to host's cultivation phase, host could potentially explode due to the huge influx of energies of which the body cannot handle. However, in contrast, elixirs and pastes have a more gentle nature and so if host used either of a higher tier than required, the effects of that paste or elixir would have a greater effect on host.

'I should rest for a moment while the paste and elixir does their work.' Xiao Ying decided to rest.

A few hours later, it was already night when he woke up. His wounds were almost healed and his stamina was almost fully recovered due to his high vitality stat as well as the tier of the paste and elixir.

Looking at his armor, he sighed, "Sigh~~~. It looks like it's time to get new armor."
