"Sir, these are the candidates that I had chosen for the post of being the Princess's spy. If you don't like their skills, I will look for another batch of the spies and report -"
"That won't be necessary. Who is the most skilled amongst these?" Sebastian walked out of the bathroom after dressing casually, and Lucas looked at them.
"I think Kayla is best suited for the job. She has been closely working with the S class team and was one of the members of the recent mission on the council," Lucas looked at the girl, who stepped forward and bowed to the prince.
"What about this one?" Sebastian looked at the girl with an oval face, whose persona didn't reveal her skills.
"She was in the team for research purposes. She had been working with the members sent to the kingdom and living as citizens to get insights on their views and opinions of the kingdom and royal family," Lucas explained, and Sebastian nodded.
"Hire this one. What is your name?" Sebastian looked at the girl, and she bowed in respect.
"I am Blue, sir. Current agent code - Amelia," the girl said in a curt voice.
"Smoothen your voice and show me how you will speak when confronted by the princess herself," Sebastian looked at the agent, and she cleared her throat.
"I am Amelia, madam. I am appointed as your security guard. Please take care of me," Blue said, and Sebastian nodded.
"Good. The princess is a soft-spoken person. Even when annoyed, I haven't seen her talking rudely to anyone. I think she will like it more if the people around her are soft-spoken like this," Sebastian looked at Lucas.
"Where is Miss Zoya? The princess isn't in the room," Sebastian asked, and Lucas turned when he felt some movement behind him.
"I called her once I got your message," Lucas stepped aside so Miss Zoya could report to the Prince.
"Where is the princess? I thought I told you to be with her always, right?" Sebastian asked, not really worried.
"Mrs. Elliana is in the library, sir. She wanted to read in solace, so I left her there. It was around half an hour ago. I am sure she is still there," Miss Zoya looked at the prince with motherly love, and Sebastian nodded.
"Lucas, send the rest back to their missions and explain everything to Blue. Also," Sebastian turned to Blue.
"The princess is a good actor. She might act like the nicest person on the earth, and I don't want you to fall for that at any cost. Do you get me?" Sebastian's words made Miss Zoya fiddle slightly, and the action didn't go unnoticed by the prince, who had an eye for every little detail.
However, rather than calling out on her, he let it go. Miss Zoya was like a mother to him after his mother died, and he knows she grows affection towards anyone easily.
"Let's go to the library and see what the princess is doing there," Sebastian rubbed the space between his brows as he walked to the library, and Lucas followed him.
"I told you to send the girls and -"
"I heard Stephano talking to someone over the phone in the backyard before he left. He was saying something about how he needed knowledge about the Princess. What do you think he might be digging up her information for?" Lucas asked, and Sebastian hummed.
"Don't you know my dear brother? He is worried for me and wants to know if the girl I married is best suited for me. Apart from that, I think he was quite impressed by her too,"
"And for some reason, you are not happy about that?" Lucas commented, and Sebastian gave him a side eye as they turned around the corner.
"Of course, I didn't like it. However, it's nowhere near the reason you are thinking about. I think it will bring unnecessary trouble to her or my way. He will look out for her and find ways to enter my palace more frequently.
We have delayed the throning ceremony for three months with great effort. We don't know who Grandpa would give this position to, and I want to ensure I have the favor of the majority before that happens so that I can oppose the decision if it's not in my favor. I can't bear any distractions or hindrance from him or anyone,"
Sebastian entered the library before looking around.
Where is she? He thought before he heard soft snoring sounds at some distance.
Don't tell him the princess was sleeping in the library now. What the hell was wrong with this girl? Always sleeping in the weirdest places and ground like - Sebastian paused when he remembered Lucas's words about her spending a year in the prison.
God knows what kind of torment she had gone through there.
Sebastian walked to the farthest corner near the windows, and as he had guessed, she was curled up on the ground under the light sunlight with a book in her hand.
He bent and looked at the book before scrunching his brows.
Vampire history? Why was she reading this boring stuff? She was getting more mysterious with each second that passed with her.
Sebastian looked at Elliana for a few seconds. The faint sunlight made her skin glow even more, and she looked like a fallen angel on the ground like this.
After a few seconds, he sighed and grabbed her hand before picking her bridal style.
Lucas, who was on the call with the mission leader and letting him know Blue was selected, looked at the prince, baffled.
It was hard to decipher what was going inside the Prince's head because of his mask, but his eyes weren't cold, and that was a good sign, right? Lucas thought before sighing.
"She is quite lazy and oblivious to her surroundings for a royal," Sebastian commented before walking ahead.
Lucas hummed, a small smile itching on his face.
He could see his prince giving in to the girl slowly. Even if it was just to get his hands on the insight information about the hunter's bloodline, it was good for the princess, no?
Sebastian walked to their room and looked at the bed before looking at the girl who was still sleeping soundly as if nothing mattered around her anymore. How can a person sleep so peacefully in their enemy's house?
He was tempted to throw her on the bed and see her widened horrified eyes as she looked around wondering what happened and how she ended up like this, but on a second note, she did a good job in front of his grandpa, and thus, the prince sighed dejectedly before placing her in the center and covering her with a comforter.
The prince turned and looked at the princess one last time before leaving the room.
"Keep a close eye on her, and ensure she doesn't catch you so easily and obviously," The prince looked at Blue.
Blue bowed to the prince and sighed once the prince left.
She opened the door quietly before looking at the sleeping human, not knowing if she should be proud of this mission she received directly from the prince or should be annoyed that she was now left to guard a damned human.
However, the agents and spies of the youngest vampire prince were known for their professionalism and loyalty, which was often a matter of jealousy for other royal members, and that's why without thinking much into things, Blue sighed and closed the door, standing out of it like a guard.
If the prince has given her this task, she should consider it important. Besides, who knows what kind of devious plans this girl has? Or why would Prince go through the hassle of getting her a spy when she will stay in the house for the majority of the time? Blue consoled her before resorting to her work.
After some time, Elliana woke up from her deep slumber and looked around with scrunched brows.
How did she end up in the bed? She bit her lip before standing from the bed with a confused look before sighing.
She was right. Reading history books has always been her weakness. She must've fallen asleep as soon as she started reading the history of vampires.
Elliana nodded at her before walking towards the door.
With her hand on the handle, she was about to open the door to walk out when the door opened from the outside, and because of the force from the Prince, her entire body jerked forward, and she closed her eyes before extending her hands.
Elliana quickly grabbed onto whatever thing she could to save herself from falling.
When rather than pain, she felt a sturdy body through her hands and chest that she was leaning on, she opened her eyes before looking up.
Her eyes met the prince's hazel ones, and she looked deep into them. Though she still hasn't seen his face, for some reason, she had a feeling that even with all the scars and marks that others say he have, the prince was quite handsome.
"You are really beautiful," Elliana murmured innocently, completely forgetting about his vampire hearing.
"I am glad you think so," The vampire prince commented, and as if she was brought out from some kind of daze, she stepped behind and looked down, embarrassed.
"I... I didn't mean -"
"You didn't mean to say I am beautiful? Do you think I am ugly then?" Sebastian asked, and Lucas, who was right behind him, raised his brows when he heard the amused tone in Sebastian's words.
"No! Of course, not. I mean, I didn't mean to fall on you. It's just that I was opening the door, and you were opening the door, and then you pulled it, and then I fell forward because of the impact and -" Her blabbering stopped when Sebastian placed his index finger on top of her lips, and she looked back at him wide-eyed.
"I got it. Don't overwork yourself over it," Sebastian fought the urge to smile at her innocent face and walked inside the room to get his wallet.
Lucas looked at the interaction and a flabbergasted Elliana and couldn't help but sigh as he waited for his sir outside his room.
Meanwhile, Blue, who was especially warned by the Prince to not fall for the princess' innocent face, looked at the interaction from behind the curtains of the window in the corridor, confused.
Elliana looked at the prince, who took his wallet from his closet and walked out of the room.
As he was about to leave, he paused and turned to her.
"Don't wait for the evening snacks for me. I might be out until dinner. Also, stop sleeping in weird places. We have a bed for that," Sebastian said before leaving, and Elliana, who hadn't really expected the prince to report anything to her, felt a rush of warmth in her heart.
She smiled before walking back inside the room, her mind replaying his words.
'We have a bed,'
"Aaaaaahh," Elliana jumped on the bed and flailed her legs in the air because of excitement.
Blue opened the door when she heard the princess screaming. However, when she saw what she was doing, she couldn't help herself as a smile stretched on her lips and she gently closed the door again.
