Conversations

After receiving a lengthy explanation from Oscar, Casimir was now caught up to speed. They had been talking about their respective families and how their conversations went. Casimir understood why they would have preferred to change the conversation when he arrived, perhaps they thought he would feel out of place or sad because of is obvious lack of kin. He appreciated their concern but he was unbothered about his lack of kin, however, he didn't feel it necessary to clear up their misunderstanding. some things just weren't necessary. So, he decided to continue the conversation.

"So how are your folks?" his question was directed at Michelle.

"They're okay, I don't know if you know but I also have siblings."

"I see… which district do you guys stay in?"

"Actually, I'm not from around here, my family stays in Vinth."

"Oh, well I grew up there although, not so many fond memories anyways."

Silence ensued Casimir realized he'd done it again. He let out a boisterous laugh which caught them by surprise.

"Sorry guys I just there's not much about my childhood that I'm not over, seems you guys still get you know sensitive"

"So you're unbothered by anything to do with your lack of parents?"

"Come on Oscar you don't word it like that."

"Isn't that what he said."

Oscar was confused as to what he had done wrong and Casimir was still laughing. Oliver let a small smile creep onto his features, amused by the turn of events.

"It's alright it's alright guys, I'm Oscar where are you from?"

"Who me? I'm actually from one of the middle districts in the capital not sure would know the name sorry"

"That's alright I'll come to you for advice and I'm looking for a home"

"That's cool you could actually come to stay close to my district"

"I'll think about it."

The seemingly awkward interaction had disappeared and now the conversation was flowing, of course, they still had to get down to business so Oliver took matters into his hands and ensured that they did what they had to do.

"Before you ask I stay in the capital as well, let's get down to business how we"

The group nodded, showing their agreement to take care of the more important matters first before they went on. Everyone stayed silent as Oliver began listing down matters.

As you all know we are with Macbeth's group and William's group like and we anticipated last time, our group it's primarily a vanguard composition. Williams's group possess more support-oriented origins while Macbeth's group have a scouter and three tanks. Essentially, we will be the tip of the spear meaning will be bloody almost all the time so for the most part use your ether wisely. As we agreed last time Oscar will be our main man while me and Cass watch over Michelle; we're going to get briefed by one of our officers as well when we get settled in the squad vehicle."

Casimir hadn't heard about the briefing before they entered the squad vehicle which confused him but for now, he decided to ignore it and let Oliver continue.

"I think to post the best scores on our campaign assessment would be to stick to our jobs and to follow orders always, we are military personnel following orders is naturally part of the job. So, for the better, I'd like to ask for all of you not to act on whims but to let our commanding officers take the reigns."

"Fair enough," Oscar said

Oliver continued however Casmir already drifted once again. His eyes scanned the dining hall, he had noticed a couple of new faces upon entering earlier on but didn't pay much attention to it, he assumed they were just leaving. However now after scanning the whole, he found that those new faces had made themselves at home. Some stood amongst the noise ever present in the dining room full of young adolescents, some had taken seats, a part of rowdy lot's conversations. Casimir knew these were probably the guest officers that would accompany them during their campaign because of the emblems on the shoulders of their uniforms, four vertical white lines with the blue star above them usually meant they were officers.

Another strange thing was how they decided where to sit. There wasn't an obvious pattern to their choice of tables but very rarely would things in this military be done randomly. However, before Casimir could contemplate on their selection criteria he was pulled back from his mental absence by the repeated utterance of his name. Reverting his attention back to the group he found they add another addition to their table and the person calling his name was Oscar.

As you might have guessed the new addition was Officer Evelyn. Perhaps this was customary for cadets' first campaigns. They would have their officers sit down with them and relieve them of their anxieties. Understandably so there was still just a bunch of teenagers. Casimir stood up and saluted the new arrival.

"Greetings cadet Nagid, it seems your world is much more interesting than the one around you."

"No ma'am."

"Take your seat."

Once again Casimir needed to be caught up to speed on what they were talking about. Officer Evelyn had arrived to give them some form of comfort and relief and let them know that they would be fine for the most part as long as they followed instructions. She also brought news to the about their squad in particular. She was one of their captains along with two guest officers namely Officer Margaret and Officer Bennett. The fifth squadron was divided into seven groups and each group contained sixteen cadets.

After Casimir took his seat, Officer Evelyn continued the conversation. They were waking up a bit later than usual tomorrow but instead of breakfast and their morning jog, it should be straight onto the convoy, and departure for the blood savannah.

"Right and by the way cadets you also have another briefing tomorrow morning when we leave so be mindful of that and do not be late… Goodnight then."

Back again :D
