Zhong Shuoxi's phone was going straight to voicemail.
Shen Chaoxi calculated the time and decided to visit the old family house with Zhong Li.
"The child still needs to be fed; I should go alone," Zhong Li declined.
Shen Chaoxi did some quick math; the child had just fallen asleep and would not need to feed for another two hours. They could feed formula once in between, freeing up half a day.
Making up her mind, Shen Chaoxi mentioned the matter to Shang Qichao, simply saying a friend was unreachable and she was going out to look for them.
Shang Qichao was agreeable and even arranged a driver for her.
By the time they reached the old house, it was nearly noon.
The weather today was overcast. The northwesterly wind, bearing the chill of late autumn, blew against her face, making Shen Chaoxi instinctively shrink her neck.
Having been confined for a full month, she had seldom gone out. Today, heeding the maternity nurse's advice, she wore a coat which proved to be rather useful.
