Chapter 10

Nate's POV

What?

Mike who?

Mike Lewis, I heard Damien mention the name again.

The name sounded very familiar, I must have heard the name somewhere or probably seen it.

I tried thinking of where I might have come across the name, I tried remembering it but I couldn't come up with anything.

I gave up.

Well, what else do we know or need to know about this guy, Mike Lewis?

Did you try getting his contact or how we can meet up with him?

Damien answered, yes boss, I tried getting his contact but it was to no avail. Well, I spoke to my guy Ten, the one who told me about the contract awarding shift and he said he will help me with it.

I'm sure he'll let me know as soon as he gets his hands on it.

All right then, let's just wait up for this guy of yours, let me know when he reaches out to you.

Yes, boss.

Today has been an eventful day for us all.

You may leave now.

Isabella's POV

I got up suddenly, then I realised I'd slept off and I had a terrible dream.

I saw Mike in my dream and he was looking for me everywhere.

He was so furious when he realised I left him.

He found me in my hideout and he took me back to his place, then he made my life a living hell.

He said he would not kill me, he said he'll torture me so bad that I'll beg for death.

That scared me so much that I suddenly woke up. I was sweating profusely when I woke up from the terrible dream I just had.

This made me worried again, what if my dream becomes a reality?

What if Mike finds me here and causes trouble for everyone around here?

I checked the outside through the little window in my room

I realised it was late.

I wanted to go and meet Nate, to tell him my decision to leave so as not to cause trouble for everyone around here… but then again on second thought, I thought to myself since it is late, maybe I could just leave this place, escape from here and run away to somewhere very far.

I would cause no one harm and I will buy some time for myself to be out of Mike's sight or his reach.

I got up from the bed and went to the door, I put my ears on the door to check if I could hear movement from the house on the other side.

I waited there for a while and I heard nothing.

I then tried to open the room door, carefully, steadily and gently so it didn't make any sound or squeak.

I was opening gradually until I was able to open it fully.

I got out of the room, took off my slippers and started to tiptoe my way downstairs.

As I was close to getting down I heard someone open the main entrance door, I had to go back so I would not be caught.

The person went into one of the rooms downstairs, then I continued back my tiptoe movement.

I got downstairs and headed towards the kitchen so I could use the back door.

I noticed earlier today in the kitchen, when I and Lisa were baking that there was a back exit door.

I opened the kitchen door gently again to avoid any noise.

I walked in, then set for the exit.

I turned the door knob but it didn't budge, the door refused to open after several trials I gave up, and I came out of the kitchen only to find Nate outside the kitchen door waiting there.

Hey, you scared me I said as I bumped into him right outside the kitchen door.

No, you scared me, I was hearing strange sounds coming from downstairs and I had to come only to find you snooping around.

Snooping, me snooping?

Yes, snooping around like a thief.

But I'm not snooping around.

Oh really, so then what are you doing, what do you call someone who walks around someone else house in the middle of the night, tiptoeing and acting weird?

Hiding so as not to get caught.

You were so scared when you bumped right into me just now like someone who was caught doing bad.

Ehnm… I'm not doing anything bad. I'm not at all.

Oh really, then tell me what you were up to because it seems to me you were up to no good.

You're like a spy.

No, I'm not a spy, I not looking for anything nor am I doing anything I just wanted to…

I caught myself before completing my sentence.

I knew I could not tell him I was just trying to run away from your house.

You wanted to what?

Speak up.

Or did the cat get your tongue?

No escape, I just knew I'd been caught.

The thing is, I immediately went down on my knees.

I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry….I was just scared that I might end up causing trouble for everyone here if I stayed around so I was trying to leave without telling anyone.

I just want you all to be safe.

My boyfriend is so dangerous that he torments me so much, even in my dreams.

I had a dream that he found my hiding place, he came here to get me then he caused every one of you trouble and I didn't want that.

That was why I wanted to leave.

Nate's POV

I left the study to go to my room. I was in my room wondering how everything was going to turn out.

Today has been a long and I just wanted to rest.

Suddenly I heard some sounds but I didn't know where they were coming from.

I traced the sound downstairs to the kitchen area.

I stood by the kitchen door and before I could open it to check what was making that sound someone came out of there and bumped into me.

It was Isabella.

She looked like a thief caught in the act.

I asked what happened and she told me she was trying to escape from my place.

That made me so angry but I couldn't get mad at her for long because she was concerned about everyone and she said she didn't want to bring harm to the people living here.

That singular consideration on her part towards other people made me want her more.

She wasn't inconsiderate despite her situation.

That's very thoughtful of her.

Before I could even think, my mouth had formed words on its own without my head and spewed them out.

Don't go anywhere Isabella, I want you here.

She asked why I don't want to let her go

I answered

I like you, Isabella.
