Chapter Five

Charlotte walked to the cliff's edge and watched Lotus and her lady in waiting fall into the ocean known as the ocean of no return.She wasn't sure if the silver bullet hit Lotus because her lady in waiting was shielding her with her body while she shot, but she was certain of one thing: there was no way she was going to survive falling into the ocean of no return. The ocean was named the ocean of no return because people believed that it was the road to death.

"When I first met you, you asked me what you did wrong to me, and I couldn't answer you then, but I think I can now." Your entire existence is wrong. You should know your place in the next life. Lotus, rest in pieces." she muttered,a sneer on her face. She turned to face the soldiers who stood guard."Let's go," she commanded as she mounted her horse, and they followed suit.

ARTHUR

When I heard Lotus had escaped, I was relieved because a part of me didn't want her to be executed, That part of me also wanted her to be found and brought to me because I didn't want her to be out of my sight.That part of me is simply hoping she's safe wherever she is.

"You shouldn't be concerned about her well-being; she deserves to die," a voice in my head said.``But she's still my mate," I said, gripping my head as it began to ache again."When are you going to learn, Arthur?" She doesn't deserve to be your mate; she's simply a lowly omega who isn't on your level," the voice went on.As I fought to battle the voice, I felt like my head was being ripped apart.

"But I marked her," I answered, and the voice in my head began to giggle."You only marked her because of the mate bond."This is entirely the fault of the moon goddess, who insulted you by assigning such an inferior mate who is not even loyal to you.

"Remember that she cheated on you," the voice continued, and my mood abruptly transformed to grief.As I felt an unbearable ache in my heart, I dropped to my knees.As tears streamed down my cheeks, I placed my palm on my chest.My wolf was attempting to seize control.

"Mate," my wolf wailed in agony.I've never felt the kind of pain I'm feeling right now in my life.I had the sensation of my heart being pulled from my chest while being squeezed and crushed.

The door pushed open .I recognized it was Charlotte by her scent.I attempted to lift my head to look at her, but the pain pulled me back down.

"Arthur, "What's going on with you?"As she approached, she called my name.

"Mate," my wolf whimpered once again.My nails were growing longer, and hairs began to sprout on my body. I was in the midst of transforming when I felt something chilly on my forehead.I tried to glance up, but Charlotte's comments stopped me."Stay still, I know you're in pain right now because you lost your mate, but I'm not going to let you suffer because of that lowly omega." "You'll be fine."

"Lost my mate?"In a perplexed tone, I said."Lotus is dead," she said, intensifying the misery I was feeling."Why and how did she die?"I inquired.

"She died while fleeing with her lady in waiting," Charlotte replied, "and I remained silent as many thoughts raced through my mind."You're not supposed to be thinking about her," Charlotte murmured, and my head hurt.

The cold sensation on my forehead became stronger and the headache reduced. I'm not sure what Charlotte did to me, but whatever she did calmed my wolf and made me feel a lot better. As I became weaker, my vision became hazy."Thank you," I muttered to her before collapsing.

AFTER THREE DAYS.

Color and music filled the streets of the werewolf kingdom. The aroma of food and spices filled the air.It was a day of joy since the alpha king was about to replace the Late Luna queen with a new one.

The festivities had begun early in the morning with a magnificent procession around the town. To the beat of drums and tambourines, the townsfolk dressed in their finest apparel danced and chanted.

People gathered around a massive bonfire that had been set in honor of the occasion as the procession approached the town square. A troupe of entertainers took the stage, narrating stories about the gods and goddesses and doing acrobatic feats that had the audience in amazement.

Following the shows, people went to the food vendors that lined the streets, which sold anything from roasted meats to sweet pastries. Families gathered around large tables, sharing delicious meals and toasting to the community's health and success.The party became increasingly more wild as the night progressed.

When the primary focus of the celebration arrived, there was complete silence as alpha king Arthur and Charlotte, whose face was hidden behind a veil, stepped up to the high stage from where everyone could see them.

Maddox, the oldest werewolf, came and assisted them with the necessary rite."Do you, Arthur Wettin, alpha king of Crescent moon pack and all the 150 packs that make up the werewolf kingdom, choose Lady Charlotte Darwin, daughter of Alpha Lucas Darwin, Alpha of Gold moon pack, as your rightful wedded mate and Luna queen of Crescent moon pack and all the 150 packs that make up the werewolf kingdom?"Maddox inquired, offering a silver knife to Arthur, who gazed at the knife and back at Charlotte, who smiled beneath her veil.

There was complete silence as Arthur glanced at Charlotte without saying anything. Charlotte became uneasy as a result of his actions, and she began to nervously bite her lips."Do you, Arthur Wettin, alpha king of Crescent moon pack and all the 150 packs that make up the werewolf kingdom, choose Lady Charlotte Darwin, daughter of Alpha Lucas Darwin, Alpha of Gold moon pack, as your rightful wedded mate and Luna queen of Crescent moon pack and all the 150 packs that make up the werewolf kingdom?" Maddox inquired once more.

This brought back memories of Lotus. He could see her beautiful sea blue eyes from the veil which covered her face,her long black hair was flowing. From where he was standing, he could sense her joy, which made his wolf very pleased and content, and the only thing he could think of at the time was finishing the appropriate ceremonies and carrying her to the room and making love to her in such a way that she would never forget him.

"Do you, Arthur Wettin, alpha king of Crescent moon pack and all the 150 packs that make up the werewolf kingdom, choose Lady Lotus, daughter of Late Edna as your rightful wedded mate and Luna queen of Crescent moon pack and all the 150 packs that make up the werewolf kingdom?". "Yes I do" he replied cheerfully without hesitation during that time.

"Do you, Arthur Wettin, alpha king of Crescent moon pack and all the 150 packs that make up the werewolf kingdom, choose Lady Charlotte Darwin, daughter of Alpha Lucas Darwin, Alpha of Gold moon pack, as your rightful wedded mate and Luna queen of Crescent moon pack and all the 150 packs that make up the werewolf kingdom?" Maddox inquired again, and Charlotte's heart rate quickened because the rule specifies that the ceremony would be canceled if he is asked the question for the third time and does not respond.

There were murmurs as Arthur remained silent.It was also a rule that they would not approach each other until the rite was done.Unsure how to bring him out of his thoughts without making physical contact with him, an idea occurred to her.She took off one of her shoes and hurled it at him, luckily hitting his forehead and jolting him back to reality."Is everything okay, Alpha King?"Maddox inquired, and Arthur responded with a nod."I was just thinking about another thing." "Yes, I accept," he said taking Maddox's silver knife, he sliced his palm with it, allowing the blood from the wound to fall into the calabash on the table.

"Do you, Lady Charlotte Darwin, daughter of Alpha Lucas Darwin, Alpha of the Gold Moon Pack, accept Alpha Arthur Wettin, Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack, and all the 150 packs that make up the werewolf kingdom as your rightful wedded mate and alpha king?"Charlotte was asked the question, and she promptly responded."Yes, I do accept". She slashed her palm with the knife as well, allowing her blood to pool in the calabash.

"With this and the witness of all the werewolves in this kingdom, you two have become one, and you may now reveal your Luna queen."Maddox addressed Arthur, who approached Charlotte prior to removing the veil.

"From now on, Lady Charlotte will be referred to as the Luna queen," Arthur declared putting the crown on her head, as the werewolves howled in approval.He glanced at Charlotte who had a sad expression on her face.She was still irritated by his hesitation to answer the question asked by Maddox during the rite.

"You may address the people," he said and she took a step forward, facing the audience assembled to witness the coronation of the new Luna queen.

"I, Charlotte Darwin Wettin, Luna queen, promise to be a good Luna queen to the people."I swear to aid my spouse in properly governing this Kingdom.You will never be sorry for appointing me as the Luna queen of this kingdom."Thank you," she said, and everyone began applauding.

"You did well," Arthur said to Charlotte, who remained silent."Are you angry with me?" he inquired, and Charlotte cast him an angry scowl"What does that attitude you pulled earlier mean?"Why were you hesitant to respond to the question?"You embarrassed me," Charlotte said to him as Arthur took her hand in his."I'm sorry," he said, and Charlotte smiled back."I'm glad you recognize your mistake," she added.

"I have a question for you, Alpha King Arthur"A booming voice from the crowd drew people's attention, including Arthur and Charlotte, who turned to see who was speaking.A middle-aged woman was observed approaching as people made way for her.

"Why was Luna Queen Lotus sentenced to death for infidelity while you were also having an affair with Lady Charlotte?" Shouldn't Lady Charlotte be executed as well, and you be deposed as the Alpha King?"The woman inquired, and the room became animated as murmurs filled the air.

People were astounded by her audacity to utter such a thing to the alpha king, whom many feared.No one has ever approached him in this way or questioned his judgment before."She is brave," one person said, while another muttered, "She is just stupid.

Charlotte clenched her fists and stared at the stranger from where she stood.She pondered who the woman was, what gave her the courage to speak such things?, and how she knew about what had transpired.

"Is there any evidence to back up your claim?"Arthur inquired.

"Lady Charlotte is proof enough,it was so easy for you to replace the Luna queen. I just want you to know that Karma exists." "You may have thrown the late Luna queen away like trash, but you will surely regret how you treated her," the woman said to him.

"I hope you understand that speaking such things about the alpha king and Luna queen is treason," Charlotte stated.

"If I was truly concerned about my fate, I would not have said my mind," the woman responded.

"Seize her," Charlotte ordered, but Arthur intervened to prevent the guards from following out her commands.

"I will let you go free today because it is a day celebration." "I'm not going to let anything ruin this day for me," Arthur said to her before turning his gaze to the throng.

"Because the late Luna queen was unable to provide me with an heir and also cheated on me, she deserved her punishment." I don't see why she shouldn't be replaced. She is a traitor, and I never want her name to be mentioned again in this Kingdom. "Talking about her would be considered an offense," Arthur told the gathering, which howled in approval.

"Let everyone have fun," he said as he walked away, clutching Charlotte's hand but the thoughts of the identity of the woman filled Charlotte's head."Who is she?"

People went to the streets in a frenzy of dancing and singing that continued into the early hours of the morning. The event came to an end as the sun rose above town, but the memories of the day lingered. People returned home with full tummies and glad hearts.
