The Lost Princess of Vampire City

After struggling through many hardships in life, me and my best friend, Sadie, settled down into a little apartment. It wasn't big, and it wasn't exactly in the safest part of town, but it quickly became our home. One day, after being attacked in our home, I woke up in a hospital. A strange man had greeted me at my bedside, and he told me I'm a vampire. Not just any vampire, though. Apparently, I'm a Vampire Princess. I thought my life was crazy before, but crazy couldn't even begin to describe the events unfolded after that day.

Kay's POV

Straining my ears to focus on Sadie's conversation was difficult, since there were so many other background noises. Eventually, though, I was able to focus in on her voice.

"Her face is tomato red! How cute." Bella said. "Our little Kay is growing up so fast!"

Sadie chuckled. "You know, those aren't even her clothes and she just came from his house..." Sadie said with an evil grin. "Anything could've happened in that time."

"No!" Bella gasped. "What are you implying, Sadie? Kay is so pure, she would never, not with a guy she just met."

"I'm just kidding! Relax! You didn't see her when I came home the other day. She was badly beaten. I'm sure having sex would be too much for her body to handle right now, especially since she's a virgin. That being said, though, where the heck did this guy come from? She said they met at the hospital, but something is definitely up with him. It feels like he's hiding something. He better not be trying to take advantage of Kay while she's weak." Sadie rambled, showing off her overprotective nature.

"I mean, it's Kay. She doesn't trust just anyone, let alone start random comversations with strangers. It just doesn't make sense? I feel like she was hiding the fact that she knew him, and there's more to the story. Actually, I'm worried that he might've been the one who beat her yesterday. He just looks like trouble, honestly." Sadie continued.

"Well, I don't know about that part. She looks happy with him, doesnt she?" Bella pointed out. "Actually, I don't think I've ever seen her so animated. It's like he unlocked a whole new Kay."

"Yeah, I know. That worries me. If his intentions aren't right, her heart is going to be so broken." Sadie sighed.

At that moment, I felt tears form in my eyes. Doing my best to prevent them from escaping, I excused myself to the bathroom.

'Sadie cares about me so much. Even now, she's protecting me from the world, just like she always does.' I thought to myself, sniffling through the tears as I locked the bathroom stall that I entered.

"Are you okay?" Jay's voice rang through my head. "I can feel you crying."

"Yeah, I'm just working through some thoughts," I replied, blowing my nose. "I'll be back soon, don't worry."

Jay's POV

I waited for Kay to come back before resuming to eat my food. Checking my watch, I saw the time change from 9:34 to 9:35pm. The restaurant will be closing soon.

At that moment, Kay returned with no signs of crying left on her face. If it weren't for the mark, I would've never guessed she had jist cried.

We both ate our food, engaging in small talk without using the telepathy from the mark. I figured I should give her a break, since her heart felt strained. After all, she only just recently drank blood. While her mental state has improved, you can't just erase those types of scars overnight with a bit of blood. She still has years of trauma she had endured, and a bit of blood won't make that sort of thing go away. Drinking blood only cures the mental illnesses that were caused by the starvation.

'Was it the right thing to do to let her eavesdrop on Sadie's conversation? She managed to start saying heavy things as soon as Kay started listening in. I only told her to listen in because before that, they were making stupid jokes about how our babies would look, and who would be the bridesmaids at the wedding. I had no idea the conversation would get dark like that.' I pondered. 'Not only that, but Sadie is more perceptive than I thought. She seems like an airhead, but that's just a face she puts on in front of everyone. I'm worried my influence might actually break within her. Gah! This situation just keeps getting more complicated.'

After finishing up our meals, Kay started asking more vampire related questions by using telepathy. She was getting better at it, but she still had a long way to go when it came to controlling her heartbeat and her emotions. It had started to effect me, causing me to do everything in my power not to become an emotional wreck myself. If this keeps up, I will break my cool.

'I've never heard of the mark causing people to become so emotionally connected like this. If I knew this was going to happen, I wouldn't have initiated the promise. I wonder if becoming her mentor will actually just end up being an even bigger headache for me. Well, it's too late for all that now. The mark is sealed, and the only way to fade it is by completing the task, or by breaking it. With how strong the connection is, the consequences of breaking it may be much more severe than I initially thought. It's not worth the risk.'

Soon, Sadie arrived back at our table to let us know the restaurant is closing.

"Hey, Jay, do you think you could give us a ride home?" Kay asked, giving me puppy dog eyes.

I sighed, looking away from her gaze. "Yes, I was planning on driving you there anyways."

"He has a car, too?!" Sadie shouted with money signs in her eyes.

"It's not a car, it's a truck," Kay and I both said at the same time. We looked at each other, and Kay winked.

"Wow, that was creepy," Sadie said. "Whatevs, I'll meet you at the front when we're done closing up."

I helped Kay out of her seat, despite her protests of being able to do it herself. We made our way to the front enterance where the hostesses would greet the guests. Kay sat down on one of the waiting booths, and I sat down next to her.

"Sooo, what did you think of the place?" Kay asked, initiating the conversation.

"It's comfy," I replied. "Actually, I can understand why you enjoy working here. The staff are friendly, and the food tastes great."

Kay giggled. "Yeah, but being a guest and working here are two completely different things. I can't just sit and eat while I'm on the clock. Actually, this was my first time being a genuine guest here."

"How's your leg doing?" I asked, pointing at the cast.

"It's itchy. I can't wait to take it off." Kay said, sticking her fingers through the top of the cast, attempting to alleviate the itch.

After a brief moment of waiting, Sadie arrived and we made our way back to the car park.

"What the- This is yours?" Sadie said as she circled around my truck, eyeing it up and down. "How is Kay supposed to get in that thing with her leg like that? It's huge!"

At that moment, I opened the door for Kay and helped her up into the truck. Afterwards, I closed the door and tucked the crutches into the truckbed, closing the top cover with a lock. Sadie Stood there staring at me, probably wondering if I would do the same for her. I smirked, opened the driver's door, and said, "Well, hop in."
