I am not your father (28)

Ariel woke up with a pain through out her whole body. She groaned and Marcus was right by her side.

"I'll call a nurse. Doctor Hinderaker left instruction for a painkiller." Marcus said.

She could not speak just shook her head. Marcus got them to bring the pills and she was soon falling back to sleep. He was looking through all his reports for the meeting that was tonight. As he was going over everything he got a a reply to his email.

To: Marcus McKenna

From: Noah Sanchez

Subject: Your father

Dear Marcus,

I am beside my self. I always felt a closeness with you for all the time you and Kimberly spent together.

I am not sure who told you I had an affair but it is not true. I would never cheat to my family like that.

If I need to prove it so as no rumours start I am will to do the DNA test but son I am not your father.

I have known your father since we were boys and he has never had his testicles removed. In fact right after you were born he got a vasectomy and I am the one that took him to the appointment.

Someone has played a horrible joke that could ruin not only my life but yours as well.

Let me know if I really need to do a DNA test.

This all hit him hard. Why did his brother tell him this. What was his game plan?

He kissed Ariel's cheek as he left for the meeting. There were two guards left at her door to watch over her.

Ariel woke at the feel of his kiss and watched him walk out with his bag. She felt her heart skip a beat.

She made herself get up and move. It was slow moving but she got better and better at it. She had to get her strength back. She looked at her phone and called Heather.

"It's so good to hear from you. How are you doing?" Heather said.

"Not good. I died yesterday after getting kidnapped because I caused a girl to be killed by the men in my life." Ariel said.

"I don't know what to say. Is there anything I can do?" She asked.

"I am coming home. I have to get away from them and get back to me. The Doctor says I'll not be able to return to swimming so the only thing left is to work a normal job."

"Come back then. I need a waitress, Julie is getting married and moving to Texas. You can have her spot. Mornings and Lunch."

"Thanks I'll take it. As soon as I get well enough to leave I'll be be there." Ariel said.

Marcus walked into the office and up to the conference room.

"I got all your info. Are you ready?" Janet Little said.

"Yes, just let me plug in so I can show the grafts needed for this." He said.

As he was finishing up his father and brother walked in and were greeted by Janet.

"Welcome Mr. McKenna." She shook his hand.

"Welcome also Mr. McKenna I'm so glad to meet your father. Please have a seat."

Janet walked over and took a seat across from the two men. "I'm am so glad that you decided to use our company to finish the Riverside project. I have been to Riverside many times and am glad I get to help with remodeling their park area. I would like to introduce my right hand man Marcus who will be in charge of this for us."

Marcus walked over and hit a button on the computer and graphics appeared on the screen. "This is what the park looked like two years ago in Riverside. It was a park with no heart."

He flipped to the next one. "This is what it looks like today. Better but not complete."

He then went to the next one by one as he spoke. "This is what Riverside would like the park to be. A large bandstand for concerts, A large playground for both regular children and those with handicaps. A swimming pool. Mini golf course. Also a firework platform on the river bank."

He then hands three folders out. One to each person at the table.

"As you can see you have already spent this 1.2 million and to finish this project it will be another million. The next page is the contract agreement that was made by your company a few weeks ago. These contractors are just ripping you off. The next page is a group that will get everything done on the list only costing your company 500 thousand dollars instead of the million. The next page breaks down the cost of material and labor cost. Your other company would not disclose this information. Anyone who will not disclose things are ripping you off. Any questions?"

He had been calm and business like.

He could not let his Father and brother get to him for the sake of Janet who gave him this chance.

"When can you get started on the project and when will it be finished?" Harrison asked.

"If we start Next week then it will be finished after the first of the year." Marcus said.

"Good, I'll cancel the contract with the other company and leave everything in your hands." Harrison said.

"Wait a moment. Miss Little I want someone else on this project." Mr. McKenna said.

"I see, can I ask why?" she asked.

"Because we fired him from our company and this project. I want him no where near things with our company." He replied.

"I see then, I am sorry to lose your business. It was a blessing to get Marcus and if he is not worthy of this project then our company is not worthy. I'll show you the way out." She got up and opened the door.

Harrison was shocked. Everything Marcus had said was good why was his father being like this. "I'm sorry let me talk to my dad and I'll talk to you later." He said following him out then stop. "Marcus can I bring Lily by to see Ariel? She is worried."

"Sure then we can talk about what you told me last night." Marcus said.
