Aiden nearly choked on his food when he heard the name that his father had given to his high school exam.

'Seriously? Magic Awakening exam? Are you kidding me? And why is he staring at me that way?'

Aiden thought as he stared at his father who was still looking at him with a slight grin on his face as if he had thought Aiden one of the most important things in life.

As for Aiden though, he didn't see the grin as a cool grin at all. He couldn't help but let out a slight chuckle when he thought of his father's grin.

"Oh? Is that so?" Aiden said as he decided to play along. He was sure that the reason why his father called him was absolutely different from what he was saying now. As for his father though, he didn't seem like he was joking as he quickly cleared his throat and continued.

"You see, the reason why I called you was to give you some inspiration to help you get a better result in the exam…"

'Ah, I knew it,' Aiden exclaimed in his head when he heard what his father said, 'He was joking at first."

"As you know, both I and your mom are Normal Humans, 'the ungifted'…"

"Normal Humans? 'The ungifted'? How can you guys classify yourself as ungifted when you are so talented in your fields?"

Aiden asked confused by what his father was saying. His father was a mechanical engineer and a very talented one at that. In fact, Aiden earned all his smarts and intelligence from his father. His father was the kind of person that people would call 'talented'.

As for his mother, even though she didn't have lots of the smarts like his father, she was very caring and hardworking. Even more so than his father. So he just didn't understand why his father was calling himself an ungifted person.

"Sigh, that isn't what I mean! You would know soon when you awaken," Mr Acker sighed and said without explaining much, "Either way, I wish that you are able to awaken a good power at the end of your program."

'Good power? Awakening? What is he talking about?' Aiden pondered as he looked at his father silently.

After eating breakfast at home Aiden proceeded to dress up and go to school. Whilst they were having breakfast, his parents continued to act highly suspicious. At first, it was only his father yet soon enough, his mother joined the conversation.

And to Aiden, it seemed like she was over reacting to him passing his exam and getting a good power. As the conversation continued, the word 'Awaken' continued to ring through at random times.

The repeated mentioning of the word made Aiden take it seriously. What if his parents weren't joking when taking about the awakening? Could they be talking about something important? But what could it mean? As he thought of it now, it seemed like the 'awakening' was really important to them.

"Sigh, forget it. I would ask Ace when I get to school," Aiden sighed as he stepped out of his house.

Aiden then proceeded to walk down the stairs into the pedestrian walkway before taking out an oval shaped metal from his backpack.

Placing the oval-shaped metal from his backpack to the floor, Aiden proceeded to press some few buttons on his digital watch. The moment Aiden pressed the final button, the oval-shaped ball let out a slight 'rev!!' as it bust into life transforming into a hover board about a metre long.

Seeing this Aiden, stepped on the hover board planning to take off to school.

"Hey Aiden!"

"Ace?"

A familiar voice suddenly echoed behind Aiden as he turned to see a teenager calling unto him.

The teenager was quite handsome. His bright blue eyes were the first thing that caught attention when looking at him, standing out prominently against his tanned skin.

"Hey, Ace. You're late?" Aiden asked as he stared at his best friend.

"Huff… Huff! You sure move fast," Ace said as he huffed out tiredly, "Have you forgotten what happened yesterday?"

"Yesterday…" Aiden muttered as he tried to remember what Ace was talking about.

"Oh yeah! I promised that I would wait for you this morning…" Aiden said. Hearing Aiden's words, Ace couldn't help but scratch his head awkwardly.

"I see, so you forgot…" Ace said after a while.

"You don't have to worry about that now. We are going to be late if we continue to stay here," Aiden said breaking the awkward silence.

"Em, okay," Ace said as he brought out a hover board just like the one Aiden brought out.

Stepping on the hover board at almost the same time, Aiden and Ace zoomed off into the sky where they joined a crowd of hover board drivers. As the continued in the direction of the school, Aiden couldn't refrain from thinking about the strange events that had been happening since morning.

Ever since he woke up, everything felt strange to him. Even though he couldn't explain why, he still kept on having a feeling that it was related to the dream that he had.

As the feeling of this begun to escalate, Aiden became even more convinced that something happened in that dream which should have changed something about him or the way he viewed the world.

"Is there something wrong?" Ace asked when he noticed his best friend's troubled face.

"Oh?" Aiden was surprised that Ace was able to realize his distress so quickly. Realizing that this was one of the main opportunities he would get to answer most of the questions he was thinking about, Aiden decided to grasp it.

"By the way," Aiden said as he swerved past another rider, "Could you have heard by any of, by any chance, 'the Awakening' before?"

"The Awakening?" Ace asked as he looked at Aiden as if he was talking about something really surprising.

"I know it's crazy and all, but my parents were telling to awaken a good power at the exam," Aiden started to explain when he noticed Ace looked at him strangely.

"Yep, I know right? "

Yet surprisingly, Ace answered, "I never knew that even you, Aiden, wouldn't do your research before going to school."

"Research?"

"Yep. Seems like you forgot again." Ace said as he started to explain.

"The awakening is just a term used to describe the process of getting a super power. For example, if I am to awaken a wind affinity at the start of my journey then it means that Wind is the most compatible power for me. That way, I have awakened the ability to use the wind superpower!"
