Why?

It has been several years since your first day of Elementary school and meeting Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugou. You're now in your second year of middle school with your two childhood friends. However, ever since you and Bakugou met on that day, the both of you have been competing against eachother. You were the only kid in the neighborhood who didn't follow him or give him any praise. You didn't like how he looked down on everyone, including you. You can't deny that Bakugou does has the potential to become a pro hero, but you'll never admit it to him.

One day, you were running errands for your mom when you suddenly bumped into Bakugou at the Tatoon Shopping Street.

"DAMNIT! WATCH WHERE--- What? Yagi?" Bakugou asked in surprise after seeing you.

"Bakugou...?" You were surprised to see him here, and you were especially surprised to see him without those two guys that follow him around. You don't remember their names.

"Don't walk in front of me, outta the way. Stay out of my sight."

"Shut up, Bakuhoe! You're the one who was walking in my path and bumped into me!" You angrily retorted.

"Stop calling me that, you bitch!" Bakugou snapped. "Anyway, where's Deku, isn't he usually with you?"

"He's sick." You raised your hand that had bags of groceries and other essentials in it. "I'm out here running errands for my mom."

You didn't wanna spend another minute talking to this asshole, so you left.

As you were finishing up the errands your mom wanted you to do, you bumped into someone. Again. Only this time, it wasn't Bakugou, it was a mean looking teenager with jet black hair. He looked older, too. He must be in High school.

"Watch it, Bitch!" The guy angrily snapped.

You didn't like the way he was talking to you and that pissed you off.

"Why don't you watch your attitude!?" You snapped back.

You were about to walk pass him but he roughly grabbed your arm.

"Apologize."

Usually, you would apologize, but since this guy was being rude, you decided to not say sorry.

"How about you let go of me then go back to Elementary school to learn some manners."

"What did you say?!" The jerk gritted his teeth. "I told you to apologize!"

The guy raised his hand to strike you, but another hand stopped him. That hand belonged to Katsuki Bakugou.

"I don't know who the hell you think you are putting your hands on her, but you better get the fuck away from her or I'll murder you!" Bakugou threatened as heat and smoke radiated from the hand that had a grip on the bastard.

The guy immediately let go of your arm and ran away. You looked at Bakugou in astonishment. You never expected The Katsuki Bakugou to help you like that.

"Here." Bakugou pulled out a star pendent. It was your pendent! "You dropped this when you bumped into me. You better not make that a habit."

Bakugou gave you your pendent and walked away before you could thank him.

The Next Day

At school, you couldn't stop thinking about what Bakugou did for you yesterday. You didn't expect him to protect you from that jerk you bumped into. He even went out of his way to bring you your star pendent that you almost lost.

"Hey, Hikari. Is something wrong?" Izuku asked from the seat behind you.

"I'm fine, Izuku." You reassured. "There's nothing to worry about."

After speaking to Midoriya, you felt a pair of intense eyes stare at you. You turned your head and saw Bakugou at the doorway of the classroom. He quickly looked away and went to his seat. Before you could walk over to him, the teacher spoke up and class had to start.

After class, your math teacher asked to speak with you.

"Is there something you wanted to discuss sir?" You calmly asked eventhough you were actually anxious about what he needed to say to you.

"Miss Yagi." The teacher began from across his desk. "Let me get to the point: you're failing my class."

Just as you feared, those painful words stabbed you as you felt light-hearted. This was the worst news you could've gotten. Failing even one class means that you won't get into UA!i

"...Is...there anyway for me to pass your class...?" You asked with shaking breath. You prayed in your mind for even a small chance to improve your grade.

"Don't worry. I'm willing to talk to some of my better students to tutor you."

You sighed a breath of relief. You were happy to hear some hope, but you were still embarrassed that you had to get a tutor.

"Okay. Who's going to be my tutor?"

You thought that it was going to be your friend, Izuku Midoriya, but his answer completely shocked you.

"Katsuki Bakugou."

At the school library

"What the crap? You're the dumbass I have to tutor!?" Bakugou yelled once he saw you.

The other students and the librarian shushed loudly at the hot-headed blonde and he just glared at all of them.

"Bakugou, I'm not so thrilled about this either." You quietly told your tutor as he sat down next to you. "But I need you to help me pass this class..."

After staring at eachother for a few seconds, Bakugou groaned as he pulled out his math textbook.

"Fine, but why can't Deku tutor you instead?"

"Why?" You smirked. "Is he better at this than you are?"

The vein in Bakugou's head throbbed as he slammed his hand on the table and created an explosion.

"Like hell he is!!"

Everyone shushed at Bakugou again. The explosive blonde glared at you, but you only giggled in response.

Bakugou continued to tutor you in math since then. He was strict and was yelling at you almost every minute, but he really was able to help you improve your grade in math.

One day, during one of your study sessions at his house, you've decided to ask him about that time he helped you at the shopping district.

"Hey, Bakugou."

"What?" He sounded annoyed.

"Why did you help me?"

"Huh? What are you talking about, bitch?"

"The day before you were assigned to be my tutor, you brought me back my pendent and protected me from a stranger I bumped into. Why did you help me back then?"

Bakugou didn't answer you, and for the first time since you've met him, he didn't have an arrogant or angry look on his face.

"Y-you know what, nevermind. It was a long time ago. I don't even know why I brought it up."

You immediately went back to doing a difficult math problem to forget about your ridiculous question. Little did you know that Bakugou actually does remember.
