UA Entrance Exam

Himawari is the nickname that Izuku Midoriya calls Hikari. It means Sunflower. I couldn't think of a nickname for my oc at first, but I thought this would suit her best.

UA's entrance exam is in ten months, so you spent those months getting ready for the exam. You made a daily schedule for yourself for training, studying, and you even scheduled your sleep time. You also had some help from your mom who taught you Gymnastics and martial arts. Since your Quirk is powered by the oxygen in your body, you looked up ways to increase the oxygen in your body. Thanks to your training, you're able to move in the air with your flames.

By the end of the ten months, it was time for the UA entrance exams. As you were about to put on your shoes, your phone received a notification. You smiled as you read the text message from your dad.

Daddy: Sweetheart! Good Luck in the entrance exam!

Me: Thanks dad! I'll see you at UA!

Daddy: There is no doubt you'll make it! And never forget to Go Beyond! Plus Ultra!

Me: PLUS ULTRA!!

You put your phone back in your pocket, and put on your shoes.

"Good Luck!" Your mom called out from the kitchen. "Go make us proud, Sweetheart!"

"Will do! Thanks, Mom!" You walked through the door and made your way to the UA entrance exam.

You walked through the arch of the school entrance and you suddenly felt nervous after seeing the huge school and all the other middle school students passing through. Then, you remembered the. 2% acceptance rate your classmates mentioned.

"Himawari!"

Luckily, your thoughts were interrupted by Izuku, who was running towards you.

"Good morning, Izuku." You greeted as you walked together. "Ready for the exam?"

"... I'm not sure." He replied nervously. Then he strangely covered his mouth with his hand.

Did he eat something bad? You were already worried for your Quirkless friend. The last thing you wanted was for him to get sick.

"Stupid Deku."

You and Izuku looked back and saw Katsuki walking towards you.

"Katsuki!"

"Kacchan!"

"Get out of my way, now, Deku, before I blast you to Hell." Katsuki threatened.

Izuku immediately took a step back and frantically wished Katsuki good luck and that the three of you should do your best. As the spikey blonde walks pass the both of you, he looks at you for a brief moment that felt more like an hour.

"You better make it to the top 5." He whispered. Loud enough for only you to hear.

The other students who came here for the exam recognized Katsuki from the sludge villian incident. Speaking of which, ever since that day, Katsuki became nicer to you and has been taking it easier on Izuku.

When Katsuki was far enough, Izuku breathed out a sigh of relief. You guessed he was just scared out of habit. As the two of you made your way into the building, Izuku suddenly tripped and fell. Before you could catch him, a girl caught him, making him float.

"Heh. Are you okay?" She asked as you got Izuku on his feet. The girl that helped had short brown hair and a friendly face. The girl pressed her hands together as she smiled. "I stopped you with my Quirk. I'm sorry I didn't ask first, but... I figured you wouldn't mind me catching you."

"You don't need to apologize." You replied with a smile. "Thank you for catching my friend."

"No problem! Isn't this all, like, way nerve-racking?"

"Uh, I, uh..." Izuku blushed like an idiot.

"Well, guess I'll see you two inside. Bye!"

The girl ran inside and you gave Izuku a sly smirk.

"W-what are looking at, H-Himawari...!?"

The seating was categorized by school, so the three of you sat next to each other. You sat between Katsuki and Izuku which is good because you can prevent any fight between them from happening.

"What's up, UA candidates? Thanks for tunin' in to me, your school DJ." The voice Pro Hero, Present Mic, loudly announced. 'C'mon and lemme hear ya!" He put his hand to his ear for a loud response, but there was only silence. "Keeping it mellow, huh? That's fine, I'll skip straight to the main show. Let's talk about how this practical exam is gonna go down, okay? Are you ready? Yeah!"

Izuku being the typical fanboy that he is, gushed over the voice hero and the fact that all of the UA teachers are pro heroes. He was sure being loud about it.

"Like your application said, today you rockin' boys and girls will be out there conducting ten-minute mock battles in super-hip urban settings. Gird your loins, my friends. After I drop the mic here, you'll head to your specified battle center, sound good? Okay?"

You looked at your exam ticket and it said that you'll be in battle center B. Izuku's says he'll go to Battle center C and Katsuki's says Battle center A.

"I see. They're splitting us up so we can't work with ant of our friends." Katsuki said as he looked at the test location your card says.

"Yeah, you're right." You replied. "Our examinee numbers are one after the other, but we're assigned to different battle centers." You pointed your thumb at Izuku. "His ticket says he'll be in battle center B."

"Damn." Katsuki growled. "I was really looking forward to crushing Deku."

"Okay, okay, let's check out your targets." Present Mic says as the screen above him shows a city area and three images that look like robots. "There are three types of faux villians in every battle center. You'll earn points based on their level of difficulty, so better choose wisely. Your goal in this trial is to use your Quirk to raise your score by shredding these faux villians like a mid-song solo. But, check it! Make sure you're keep'n things heroic. Attacking other examinees is a UA no-no, ya dig?"

"Excuse me, sir, but I have a question." A random student with glasses called out as he stands up and raises his hand.

"Hit me!"

A spotlight shined on the student and he points to the printout he has. You, Izuku, and Katsuki had one, too.

"On the printout, you've listed four types of villians. Not three. With all respect, if this is an error on official UA materials, it is shameful. We are exemplary students. We expect the best from Japan's most notable school. A mistake such as this won't do." The student then points at Izuku. "Additionally, you with the unkempt hair. You've been muttering this entire time. Stop that. If you can't bother to take this seriously, leave. You're distracting the rest of us."

Izuku apologized in embarrassment with his hands covering his mouth. The students laughed at him.

"All right, all right. Examinee number 7111." Present Mic gives the uptight student a thumbs up. "Thanks for calling in with your request. The fourth villian type is worth zero points. That guy's just an obstacle we'll be throwing in your way. There's one in every battle center. Think of it as a hurdle you should try to avoid. It's not that it can't be beaten, but there's... kinda no point. I recommend my listeners try to ignore it and focus on the ones toppin' the charts."

The uptight student bowed. "Thank you very much. Please, continue." The student sat back down and the spotlight disappears.

Based on what Present Mic said, the fake villians are like traps or enemies you have to get by in a video game.

"That's all I got for you today. I'll sign off with a little present. A sample of our school motto! As General Napoleon Bonaparte once laid down. "A true hero is one who overcomes life's misfortunes." Mm-hm. Now that's a tasty soundbite. You ready to go beyond? Let's hear a Plus Ultra! Good Luck! Hope you practiced hitting more than just books."

Thankfully, you didn't just spend these 10 months studying what's in a textbook. You also studied martial arts.

After the orientation was over, everyone headed to their specified battle center. It sucks that you won't be with Katsuki or Izuku during the exam, but this is for the best. Izuku is your best friend, but you can't protect him from everything, that includes this exam.

All of the examinees gaped at the large walls separating them from the area. It's like an entire city! This school must be loaded enough to build something this big and six more?

"Right, let's start!" Announced Present Mic from one of the towers. "Get moving! There are no countdowns in real battles. Run, run, run, listeners! You're wasting airtime here."

You quickly ran through the gates and into the battle area along with the rest of the examinees. As soon as you spotted a 3 pointer, you activated your Quirk and destroyed it with one kick! Then you got another, and another. As you were earning points left and right, you saw a boy who didn't notice 2 robots behind him.

"Hey, watch out!" You cried out as you flew at the robots and destroyed them.

"Woah! Thanks!" The boy said.

"No problem! What's your name?"

The boy smiled, revealing his pointy teeth. He uses his Quirk to harden his arms. "My name is Eijiro Kirishima!"

"My name is Hikari Yagi, and I'm going to be the next No.1 Hero! I'll see you later as a UA student!" With that, you took off in another direction with your flames.

You continued destroying robots and helping the other examinees. You also helped another student who... looked like his brain got fried after he used his Quirk. He had a dumb look on his face while he had both of his thumbs up and saying "Yay~!". You had to pinch yourself to not laugh at the sorry state he was in and focus on the exam.

When time ran out, you were already out of breath and overheated. You lost count of how many points you earned, but you were sure that you are able to get into UA with the points you have. At least, you hoped you had enough...

After on week passed, you waited anxiously for the test results. You haven't gotten in touch with your dad recently... maybe you actually failed and he's waiting to tell you in person so he can comfort you?

"Sweetheart!" Your mom calls out from your bedroom doorway, pulling you away from your thoughts. "I've called you three times from downstairs."

"Sorry, mom." You sat up from your bed. "What do you need?"

Your mom grinned and pulled out an envelope with a UA wax seal. Your eyes almost rolled out when you saw the test results in your mom's hand. You snatched away the envelope and closed the door in your mom's face. You know that was rude, but you were just excited and extremely nervous at the same time. Plus, you're pretty she knows the results already from dad. You ripped the envelope open and a projector fell out. It turned on and showed a projection video of your dad in a yellow striped suit.

"Hello! I am here as a projection!" The projection of your dad bellowed. "I know it's been a while, but with great power, comes a great amount of paperwork. Young Hikari Yagi, you have passed the written exam and showed great combat in the practical exam." The projection showed a chart of the students that made it in. You looked at the chart, and it showed that you ranked 2nd place... right below Katsuki! "The practical exam wasn't just grading combat, we also grade those who would risk their lives for others, so we have Rescue Points. A panel of judges watches, and they award points for heroic acts beyond just fighting villians. Hikari Yagi, you have 40 Resue Points and 35 Villian Points! You passed the exam. Congratulations! You're now a part of the hero academia."

Your heart nearly jumped out of your chest. Tears of overwhelming joy threatened to fall, but you quickly wiped them away. You opened your bedroom door and jumped into your mom's arms. She didn't look surprised about you getting in. Your guess is that your dad told her the results already. She also mentioned that something about your dad being a teacher at UA. You didn't mind having your dad as your teacher. Whichever pro heroes will be teaching you better be good because getting into UA brings you one step closer to becoming a hero just like your dad.
