Izuku Midoriya Meets Sir Nighteye!!!

"This is Sir Nighteye's Hero Agency!" You and Mirio Togata announced at the same time.

You, Izuku and Togata are standing in front of the Hero Agency owned by your parents' former sidekick, Sir Nighteye. Unfortunately, Izuku is so nervous that he's stiff and started to sweat.

"Hey, hey! Don't be so nervous, now!" Togata encouraged. "It won't get you anywhere!"

"I failed to mention this before, but Nighteye's quite strict." You briefed.

"I'm well aware." Izuku replied. "He's tough on both himself and others. He's a hero famous for doing his jobs with a stoic demeanor. Even from the other side of the screen, his sharp glare sent a chill down my spine."

"Well, there's that, too, but... Nighteye has another side to him that he never shows to the media."

"She's right." Togata nodded in agreement. "If you don't want to be turned down, from now until you're finished talking with Sir, it's absolutely imperative that you make him laugh at least once."

"Huh?" Izuku stared at his upperclassman in utter confusion. He then shifted a glance towards you and you nodded in confirmation. "Wha... what's that even mean?" He looked at Togata, then back at you, and then again at Togata in confusion. "Make him laugh?!"

"Y'see, Sir is, uhh... above all else holds humor in high regard." The three of you enter the building and made your way to Sir Nighteye's office. "The most me and Himawari can do for you is an introduction. Sir will be the one to decide whether or not you'll be of use to him."

"I'm sorry to say this, Izuku, but... from here on out, you've got no choice but to make Nighteye acknowledge you on your own." You say with a apologetic smile. "We won't be able to help you as much once you face him."

"It's okay. You've done enough for me already, Himawari."

"Ya' know, Himawari told me a lot about you back when she was doing her internship. She said that you've got a crazy objective, and you're doing your absolute best to realize that objective." Togata smiles at Izuku. "If there's someone in trouble, or who needs help... meddling in their affairs is standard protocol for a hero, isn't it?"

You agree with your upperclassman. If heroes didn't stick their noses in other people's affairs, then less people would be saved.

"Alright! Sir Nighteye is just beyond that door!" You stated once the three of you are a foot away from the pro hero's office.

"If you wish to become stronger, then you have to open it by yourself!" Togata adds.

Izuku Midoriya stares at the door where the former sidekick of All Might and Hope is in. He was nervous, but he was also determined to take the next step in becoming the world's greatest hero and mastering One For All.

"Sir Nighteye!" You, Togata and Izuku burst into the office. "We are here with Izuku Midoriya, my dearest childhood friend I told you about!"

Your emerald green eyes widened to a shocking, yet familiar, scene. Bubble Girl, one of Sir Nighteye's sidekicks, was handcuffed to a tickle machine and Sir Nighteye is just standing there and watching his poor sidekick laugh hysterically.

"Indeed... it seems you can let out quite the loud voice after all." Nighteye says to the laughing blue girl.

"Stop, please! Forgive meHyahya!" Tears fell from Bubble Girl's eyes as she continued to die of laughter.

You remembered being a victim to that torture device during your internship here. You were frowning because you were still having trouble with controlling water which prompted Sir Nighteye to get out Tickle Hell, and the next thing you know, you were laughing like a mad woman and flailing you legs as you apologized for your bad mood and begged to be set free. Ever since then, you made sure never to frown in front of your mentor.

"What's going on here?!" Izuku exclaimed in shock at the scene in front of him.

"That's Bubble Girl, his sidekick." Togata replied. "It seems she didn't have enough humor, did she?"

Sir Nighteye turns his head and looks at Izuku, causing the boy to tense up. You helped your friend get to this point. Now, it's up to him to prove himself. You've never seen or heard Izuku make someone laugh before, let alone tell a joke. You wondered if Izuku has the sense of humor needed to make Sir Nighteye laugh.

"I'm Izuku Midoriya! I am here!!" Izuku introduces himself while imitating All Might's voice and his muscle form facial expression.

You and Togata's jaws dropped. You both stared at your childhood friend in astonishment. His facial expression of the former No°1 hero was so good that it was almost unreal.

"Are you making fun of All Might?" Sir Nighteye's stoic expression stayed unchanged, but the tone in his voice expresses how upset he is which almost caused Izuku's "All Might" face to falter. The pro hero pushes his glasses up with his finger and strides towards your friend. "You little bastard... what are you playing at, wearing that face?" Izuku said nothing and just trembled out of fear and nervousness with that All Might face. "Are you in shock, having realized that I'm All Might and Hope's former sidekick?"

"Ah-! I-! That's... !"

"All Might doesn't have wrinkles like these!" Nighteye puts his hands on Izuku's face and pulls at the wrinkles. "For his normal face, the wrinkles beneath his eyes are approximately 0.6 cm! And from the Silver Age on, 0.8 cm! Nowadays, even non-licensed merchandise is made so that one can easily identify which era it's modeled after."

Yes. Sir Nighteye is no doubt an All Might super-fan. He has All Might- related merchandise throughout his office and he has the Not-For-Sale 10th Anniversary poster on his office wall. Sir Nighteye definitely puts Izuku's dorm room to shame.

"How utterly offensive." The Pro Hero lets go of Izuku's face and turns his back to him. "I'm afraid I must ask you to leave..."

Nighteye walks to his desk, but stops when Izuku mentions "The Vinegar Suicide Incident". The Incident was named after a middle-schooler with a Quirk that could alter the properties of water. The middle-schooler was drowning in a river and changed the water to vinegar after entering a state of panic. Your father jumped in to save the kid and suffered damage to his eyes. That smile that All Might showed during the interview immediately afterwards, as he was squinting his eyes, that's the face Izuku chose for his impression. While you and Togata freed Bubble Girl from Tickle Hell, you glanced over at the two All Might fanboys talking and you smiled. Although he wasn't able to get a laugh out of Nighteye... considering the end result, he was able to make a good first impression.

"So, in order to exceed your current level of strength, you wish to work here under me with Hikari, is that right?" Sir Nighteye questions Izuku from his desk.

"Yes, Sir!" Izuku responds. "I beg of you!"

"It's good to see you again, Nighteye!" You beamed.

"Likewise." The pro hero nods.

"Here's my work studies contract." You pulled out the form from your black school bag.

"Mine too!" The green-haired boy also brings out his form from his yellow backpack.

Sir Nighteye stares at both of you for a second.

"About the contracts, if I provide my stamp on those sheets of paper, the contracts will be made official."

"That's correct!" Izuku said and you nodded.

"You have to understand that this will be nothing like the week-long internships that you students took on so casually. You both must work here for a minimum of four months and will be paid wages. Although you two are still first years with a large class load, you will be forced to take many authorized absences. You'll find yourselves unable to keep up with your classmates."

You and your childhood friend were already aware of the differences between the internships and the work studies. You asked All Might and Togata important questions about the work studies before coming to Sir Nighteye. You already know that you'll have to make up for any lessons you will be absent for because of the work studies.

You and Deku glanced at each other with determined looks.

"Even so, I have to match their pace..." Izuku places his work studies document on Nighteye's desk. "Or I'll never make it to the top...!"

"And I.... want to become strong... strong enough so no one else gets hurt because of me..." You set your work studies document next to Izuku's. "Strong enough to protect the people I care about and fight by their side!"

Without hesitation, the pro hero stamps your document, accepting you to do your work studies at his agency.

Now he'll stamp Izuku's contract and we'll both officially be treated as sidekicks...

Sir Nighteye moves your contract aside and slams his stamp.... next to Deku's document. An akward silence filled the room for a moment as you and Izuku Midoriya stared at the seal that didn't touch the sheet of paper.

"Um... Nighteye you..." Your emerald eyes are still glued to the stamp.

"You missed..." Izuku finished what you were about to say.

"That's because I don't feel like stamping it." The pro hero repeatedly stamps next to the form.

"Huuuh?!"

"I'm already well aware of the merits... that you would reap from working here. However, how am I benefited by employing you? Hikari did recommend you to me, but this office gets by just fine with two sidekicks and two work studies students. How exactly would I profit from taking you in? What can you contribute to society? How can you be of benefit to others?"

IYour eyes widened at the pro hero's sudden interview. You glanced at Izuku. He listened to what Sir Nighteye had to say.

"If you wish for me to acknowledge you, you must demonstrate that to me. All Might demonstrated it using his abundant power and humor. He granted hope to those frightened by crime. And that is why the masses accepted him."

"How... can I be useful to society...?"

Izuku Midoriya hadn't thought about asking himself that question until now.

"What profits can my company gain from your presence?" Nighteye stops stamping and stood up from his desk. "You are to demonstrate that to me... not with words, but with actions." He shows Izuku his stamp. "Three minutes. I challenge you to take this stamp from me in three minutes. If you wish to work at my company as a hero, then stamp this paper yourself."

"...Huh?" The pro hero's challenge stunned your green-haired friend. "...Whaaa?!"

"In other words, I'm giving you a chance, in spite of the fact that you don't have a humorous bone in your body. How about that? Aren't I nice?" Nighteye glances at you, Togata and Bubble Girl. "The three of you, go wait outside."

"Sir. Yes, Sir!"

"That wasn't lively at all."

"Yes, Sir!!" You exclaimed enthusiastically with Togata and Bubble Girl.

You walked out of Sir Nighteye's office with your upperclassman and the sidekick. As the three of you walked down the hallway to the vending machine, you couldn't help but worry for your childhood friend.

"Um, Togata, did you have to do a practical interview like that?" You asked Togata.

"Nope." The bright boy replied. "I was nominated by Sir."

"Nighteye told me I can come here for my work studies once I've gotten my provisional hero license. He didn't interview me or gave me a challenge to earn his seal of approval." You crossed your arms. "I mean, sure. Those two did get along when they started talking about that "Vinegar Incident", but Nighteye didn't stamp Izuku's form right after he stamped mine and it felt like he doesn't approve of Izuku for some reason." You sighed. "Also, the situation isn't looking good for Izuku. Considering Sir Nighteye's Quirk... clearing that condition is all but impossible...! We all know that Sir Nighteye's Quirk is Foresight. By touching any part of a person's body and matching his gaze with theirs, he's able to predict the actions that person will take in advance for one hour. He already touched Izuku and locked eyes with him so--"

You were interrupted by Togata patting you hard on the back.

"Hey, now! Don't lose faith in Midoriya just yet! He's your best friend and you're the one who told me a lot of great things about him. He didn't make Sir laugh, but he definitely made a good impression. He hasn't given up yet!"

You gazed up at your upperclassman, then you glanced at Bubble Girl who's giving you an encouraging grin. You nodded and smiled.

"You're right, Togata! I need to have more hope for my friend! Besides, if Nighteye still isn't sold, I'll just have to convince him myself!"

"That's the spirit, Himawari!"

Togata gave you a high five and offered to buy you a drink from the vending machine.

When it was time to come back inside the office, Izuku didn't manage to take the stamp away from the pro hero, unsurprisingly. However, Sir Nighteye already made the decision to employ Izuku Midoriya when he heard about him from you. The downside is that the former sidekick doesn't acknowledge Deku as All Might's successor. Knowing your friend, it must've felt like another punch to the gut to hear something like that from Sir Nighteye. In addition to that, you learned that Mirio Togata was the top candidate to inherit One For All. This new information shocked you as much as it shocked Izuku and you both plan on getting answers from All Might and Hope when you get the chance.

The next day is day one of your work studies.

"Today is patrol and surveillance." Sir Nighteye announces to you, Izuku, Togata and Bubble Girl. "We'll split into groups. Bubble Girl and myself. Mirio, Hikari and Midoriya."

"Surveillance?" You and Izuku said in unison.

"The Nighteye Agency is currently conducting a secret investigation." Bubble Girl informs the both of you.

"A small, designated villian organization called the "Shie Hassaikai". Their leader, a man named Kai Chisaki, has demonstrated some unusual movements."

Nighteye gives you a photo of the man and examined it with Izuku. He's a pale man with shaggy hair and he's wearing a plague mask. Honestly, the mask makes Chisaki stand out and easy to notice.

"A yakuza member..." You stared at the photo. You learned about the yakuza in Class. These villian organizations basically died out after Quirks appeared.

"But these days, the Yakuza are pretty docile, aren't they?" Izuku asks.

"That's because there was a massive demolition of their world in the past..." Bubble Girl answers. "But this Chisaki individual has started assembling those guys together again. And recently, he made contact with The League of Villians. We have no details about what transpired, though."

"The League...?!"

You haven't heard of any news about the League of Villians since All For One's arrest, so this was a huge shock to both you and Izuku.

"However, we have been unable to gather any evidence to show that he is planning anything criminal. And for that reason, the Shie Hassaikai cannot be treated like a criminal organization."

"We at the Nighteye Agency are seeking proof of their criminal activities." Sir Nighteye states. "Time and time again, they've made no efforts to put on airs that they are doing anything but."

"Yes, Sir!!"

You put on your domino mask and headed out with Deku and Lemillion. As you walked on the pavement of the area you three were surveilling, a little girl bumps into you and fell. She has long, bluish, off-white hair that's messy and unkempt. Poking out from the right side of her forehead is a brown horn. Must be part of her Quirk.

"Oh! I'm sorry! Did I hurt you...?" You kneeled down to the girl's level who fell.

The girl didn't answer. She looked scared.

"Is she okay?" Izuku asks you before kneeling down also.

You noticed the bandages around the little girl's arms and legs underneath her plain, short-sleeved dirty dress. It's obvious that this girl isn't okay. You gently smiled at the child and caressed her head. She flinched at your tough, but you continued your movements.

"It's okay. We're not going to hurt you."

The innocent girl became more relaxed at your touch. You wonder if she just feels releived to meet a kind person.

"Can you tell us your name? Tell us what's wrong and we'll help."

"We mustn't cause any problems for our heroes, now..." Said a male voice.

You raised your head to see the person who spoke and you froze. There's no mistaking that scary plague mask. The man before you is none other than Kai Chisaki, the leader of the Shie Hassaikai.

"Let's go back, Eri."
