Chapter 48: What Love Looks Like
Tobin rolled over and kissed Aurelie on her forehead.
“Wake up, Aurie” he said quietly.
Aurelie opened her eyes.
Sun streamed down from the window onto her bed. Sitting up, Aurelie took a moment to collect her thoughts and come to terms with yesterday’s events.
After she had arrived home the night before, Braxton had called and told her the outcome of the court case. Brenda would have to pay a hefty fine, but was not going to jail. Tobin’s band had raised enough money through their tour and the charity concert to help the hurt horses, and rebuild most of the showgrounds.
Aurelie had figured that would be the outcome, but what she hadn’t figured was how she would become a hero overnight. A photo of her galloping out of the flames on Mako was on the front of most of the newspapers sold in the area. There was also a photo of her leading Roman and Chester towards a firefighter, looking back at the burning barns.
