Chapter 47: Aurelie's Turn in Court
Aurelie stared at the man.
“What do you mean, my presence is requested?” she asked.
The man in the suit looked back at her as he got into his car.
“The information is in the package,” he said. “Be at the courthouse early.”
With that, the man folded back into his car and drove away.
Aurelie turned to Tobin.
“I guess I’m going to have to go to court then. It must be for the fire,” she opened the envelope and flipped through the pages. “I have to be there…Friday…that’s tomorrow!”
Tobin dismounted and led Chester forward.
“Well, I will go with you,” he said firmly.
“We all will,” Braxton walked out from the barn. “Anna and Jason were called in too.”
Braxton reached out for Chester and Tobin reluctantly handed over the reins. Aurelie followed them in, amused by Mako’s enthusiastic prancing beside her.
“Oh, cut it out, goofball,” she noted as Mako faked a spook at a flower pot.
