Chapter 34: Pub Brawl
“Tobin?” Aurelie asked again.
She tried to call Tobin a couple of times then put her phone away. Aurelie didn’t want him to think she didn’t love him or thought he wasn’t good enough.
Aurelie went to bed lonely and troubled that night. Sleep did not come easy.
In the morning, Aurelie headed to the barn with a feeling of dread. She knew Brian would be showing up to ride Hyksos, as the barn was now in serious training mode for the coming international Glendridge Cup.
Aurelie turned to start her chores when she saw a car coming up the lane.
“Oh,” she blurted.
Braxton jumped and looked around. “What’s wrong, Aurie?”
“Come here, please!” Aurelie said desperately, backing up. “I have to talk to you.”
Braxton followed Aurelie to the shavings storage area and paused.
“What is this about?” he asked, concerned.
“It’s about Brian,” Aurelie whispered.
