Chapter 32: Just Drinks

Traffic seemed unreasonably thick for an early morning.

“We are running late,” Braxton gritted his teeth.

“It’s too bad,” Aurelie agreed. “We left on time.”

A small car pulled around the horse trailer and sped by. As it went along, Aurelie noticed a man taking photos of the trailer, or rather, of her in the trailer.

“Oh no,” Aurelie groaned. “They are following us.”

Braxton looked in his rearview mirror. “Who?”

“The media,” Aurelie said quietly. “I’m so sorry.”

Braxton just shrugged. “We’ll get used to it. Don’t worry.”

Tobin sent a text, “Thinking of you. Show them how it’s done, Aurie!”

Braxton made kissing noises as Aurelie read her text and blushed.

Just then, the car carrying the photographer swerved to avoid a rough patch in the road, and slowed down.

Braxton swore and braked as well as he could. There’s no slamming on the brakes with a horse trailer. Both people in the truck could feel the horses scrambling for balance in the trailer.
