Chapter 22: Slippery Footing
It rained for the entire next day. Tobin had left in the morning under the cover of dark clouds and pouring rain. They had kissed in the apartment doorway and made promises to call one another soon.
Then Aurelie was off on another adventure with Mako. Trailering the horse in the pouring rain kept the young woman’s mind off the upcoming challenge of the show, but it didn’t keep Tobin Moray from entering her thoughts.
“You’re smiling,” Braxton noticed. “Did you have a good sleep?”
“Yes,” Aurelie smiled, avoiding the trainer’s gaze. “I also had a great talk with Tobin and we worked things out.”
“Good for you,” Braxton nodded. “I hope you both learned a bit about each other in the process.”
Aurelie gave her trainer a surprised glance.
“You are wise,” she joked, but deep down Aurelie believed it.
