Chapter 17: Meeting the Family
The door flew open.
With a gasp, Aurelie went to jump up still entangled in the sheet. Tobin placed his arm over her.
Jace came around the corner. “Oh, hello.”
He turned around and went back to the door.
“I’ll, uh, wait outside,” Jace said with a grin.
“What time is it?” Aurelie hissed.
She was shaking slightly as she looked at the alarm clock sitting on the dresser. It was only 7:00 in the morning.
“Whew,” Aurelie thought. “Thank goodness I’m not late!”
Tobin got up and began dressing. He turned around and looked at her seriously.
“Come here,” Tobin said gruffly.
Aurelie sidled shyly to Tobin’s side.
“I bought this for you, but I didn’t know if you’d like it or when it would be a good time to give it to you. I think now is a good time,” Tobin reached into his luggage and pulled out a small, blue, velvet case. He handed it to Aurelie and motioned for her to open it.
“Thank you,” Aurelie breathed.
