Smoke, Blood and Bullets

Soldiers came from out of the smoke and dust, dressed in military hardware but in addition to the armour they covered the noble green of the Imperial Guard with the marks of heresy and bloodstains of the innocents, yet they continued to pervert it more with spikes and the skulls of those they killed, they know no mercy and neither do we.

"Praises Chaos! What a shot." raising my rifle to the sky with a sadistic grin plastered on my face as I turn to see the cheers from other members of my squad those boys from sixth know how to make easy prey for us! We approached the down bird, with caution but I think we are wasting our time here and yet our commander sent us to check for survivors, what a bitch, I should have been the one to be promoted to company commander but no! I will have her skull and SACRIFICE HER VERY SOUL TO THE DARK GODS!!!

two of my squad approached first, I could hear them complaining about getting the door open, " Why won't this karking door not open! Bloody hell." He raised the butt of his rifle as he was about to short circuit the panel, getting closer something started to feel off about this ship, it was nothing like what I saw in my days in the guard, until it clicked and panic took hold and shouted, " Take cover!!!"

The ramp fell to the ground and four words were spoken in a deep mechanical voice, " Death to the Traitor." sound of bullets began to deafen me as I felt fear take over me, that voice was no guardsmen, the ground shook like footsteps, I slowly came out of cover for a bit to catch a glimpse of what we are facing and what I saw was all my hope of surviving this just vanished, a heavily armoured giant walked out unleashing fire and death as he tore through my men without mercy. I witnessed as the scum of Emperor went into a trench made by debris of buildings and pieces of the aircraft, as the metal giant took brunt of the fire, so much for easy pickings, I raised my head towards the sky seeing mortar shells climb higher and higher into the sky of the Hive City. The commander she didn't care for our lives, the mortar shells were now but a few metres above my head, that karking bitch I will curse your name to the end of time!

"Lieutenant! we are running low on ammo, at this point we need to prepare for the worst!" grabbing his trench shovel, flicking it open, then quickly began to tighten and lock the head of his shovel into place. The lieutenant looked around as some of the men and woman he had led into battle time and time again lay dead on the ground or wounded badly by gun fire or shrapnel, to think that this once beautiful courtyard was turn into a battlefield, these cultists sent tens maybe hundreds just to force us to use our ammo, I feel like the end is nearing and we will be swept away by its tide.

"Get up Lieutenant, you have lives to save, and you are an officer in his army, until your duties end you can't give in to fear of hopelessness, stand and fight!" I gazed up at Chapter Master, he killed so many of these bastards that the bodies started to cover the ground and his counterpart was unrelenting in his assault unleashing pure destruction against them that the barrels began to glow red hot from changing the landscape, filled with new hope that his angels were here fighting by our side, " Yes my lord, we will follow your orders."

I will not allow this to be another Isstvan! The Lieutenant has seemed to have court his second wind me and Rylanor has been able to hold off the hoard but we need support, we are still being shelled by mortars, we could try to punch through their lives but we might lose all our lives in the attempt and I doubt that the Emperor would approve of wasting the lives of those who value could be used in better ways.

Amongst the sound of gunfire and explosions the communications officer's field radio came to life picking up a faint transmission, " This is squads two and six come in we are close to your position ready to provide the Emperors vengeance, I repeat come in!" the communications officer who had lost a leg shouted, " We have support! require coordinates for targets?"

Hearing the cheerful man shout, was the best news I have heard today. I started to trace where the shells were coming from and give him coordinates of likely positions of where the mortar positions were hiding, the Lieutenant came to passing behind cover so not to get shoot along the way, I quickly explained my plan to those over the radio, the Lieutenant heaving a sigh from all the ducking and cover, asked " Do you have a plan my Lord?" I looked above the debris that I took cover behind seeing through the gunfire, smoke and bodies, as Rylanor used the wing of the Thunderhawk that got torn off in the crash as a shield. I turned my head to face the Lieutenant then began to speak, " Do you have a whistle?"
